What Type of Boat do you fish with?
160 Nitro Bass Boat Johnson 60hp 74lb Minn Kota Its not big, and with all the gear I have its definitely not fast. It gets me on the water and its what? PAID FOR! Some of the people with the +20ft 200-300hp rigs cant say that.

Gas Struts for Rod Locker and Battery Compartment
Hey Guys, I have an older Nitro that did not come with any gas struts for holding rod lockers or battery compartments open. I was wondering has anyone retrofitted their boat's compartments with these if so would mind giving me some pointers or tips on how. Thanks in advance.

Low Budget Hooker
Hey now Russ no reason to hate on the Uncle Josh #11 pork trailer they make great trailers for jigs. A few hints and tips for jig fishing with pork. Always keep the trailer wet, if your not using the rod let the jig just barely sit in the water to keep it wet. A dried up piece of pork isnt fun to fish with or getting off the hook. Fatty side down, you want to keep the soft fatty side of the pork facing down (the legs are made out of a tougher "skin" material that side face up). One last thing to prevent setting the hook into your own pork frog legs. Here is a tip, take a small piece of worm/senko approx 1/2 to 1in long and run the hook through the length of it. Then slide the pork trailer on(be sure to use the manufacturers precut whole) this will push he pork trailer back on the bend of the hook. Hope that helps....

Walking the Dog
I Use a Spook religiously on my home waters. I throw it on a baitcasting gear with 15lb Mono. I have heard of people having a hard time trying it with braid so if your having difficulties and your using braid switch up to some mono.

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Take heed all that fish Canobie lake in Salem/Windham. Since this is Salem's water supply, they are very strict about enforcing the "No Human Contact with the Water". The signs are posted and are enforced, I have read in the paper where Water Front residents in Windham(who do not get their water from the lake) have been fined for taking a swim on a hot day. So unless your inflatable 1 man boat permits you to stay totally dry I would rethink the idea of bring this type of boat into Canobie Lake. Im just giving all here a warning dont want to hear about you guys getting into trouble. Good luck and tight lines. Yes that should be fine. As long as you dont get wet.

My Aquarium
I used to have a Salt Water Reef Aquarium for years. Loved it but wasn't to crazy on the cost and upkeep of something like that. Well I tore it down years ago and have kept the supplies and hardware in the thought that someday I might try it again. Some freshwater fish I had like most here the Oscar and some LM Bass. I later got a Silver Arowana, this by far I think is the coolest freshwater predator fish that swims. It actually jumps out of the water and eats small monkeys and birds on low lying branches. Here is a pic of a Silver Arowana, in the wild they can grow over 3ft long...

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Oh I know exactly what you mean, Walkingboss I know exactly where this old farts house is on the lake as well. I just know my luck from when I used to do that sort of stuff when I was younger that I would get caught. What I am thinking of doing is bringing a camera out with me the next time I go out on that lake. Also Im partial to asking a Marine Patrol agent to come aboard my boat and just sit and observe the unsafe boating on the lake. My father when told of the story asked if I wanted to borrow his 12gauge shotgun to go and remedy the problem one night.

Sorry, I need to VENT!!!
Looks like you guys are getting them good and often now. I haven't been out recently pretty much this past Sunday and only for a half day after 7pm. I had an unfortunate "run in" with one of those "I own the lake" mentality pleasure boaters, that got me wanting to follow him to his dock and lay him out. After coming cutting in between my boat and the shoreline of which I was fishing within 25ft of my boat sending out 2-3ft wake, I yelled "How about giving us a little room here". Which he then responded by throttling the gas and then proceeded to run about 30mph doing a donut around my bass boat. All of which while he had what looked like to be his grandson in the back of the boat. Next time I venture out on this lake I am taking a camera and if necessary sending the pics and bow numbers to Marine Patrol. This has really got me steamed and thats not the right frame of mind to be out on the water. I am just amazed at the lack of consideration and respect by people out on the water these days.

Past Post Problem, Is it me???
Glenn, take all the time you need. Your hard work and due diligence in maintaining this beast of a site does not go unnoticed, again many thanks. Also dont forget to take some well deserved "On the Water" time as well, cant have you forget what those lunkers feel like on the end of your line.

Baitcasting reels
Wow, loaded question there. Well I like you started out the same way. I wont lie its tough getting the hang of bait casting equipment. A baitcast reel spool rotates on like a spinning reel which is stationary. The way in which it works is you have a thumb-bar button, which disengages the reel and puts the spool in "free-spool" cast like you would regularly the weight of the lure is what strips the line off the reel. Most people use the brake on their baitcaster reel this slows the spool down and prevents over runs/backlashes. The other thing all anglers do is to use their thumb to "softly feather" the spool throughout the cast. The lightest line I use is 10lb Flurocarbon on my crankbait rod, and the heaviest is 40lb braid on my "slop" frog rod. Hope this helps...

Gas & Bass
Having a small bass boat helps this situation for me. Yes the prices have changed my fishing for me. I dont travel as long to get on the water as I used too. If its not within an hour of my driveway odds are Im not going to fish it. I live in a town that has 2 great bodies of water in it. So Im not missing much...

Barry Bonds
Is that why he is in there to win games? While the SF Giants are 14 games out(at the time of this post)? Id sit his slumping butt and bring up a young kid to give him some big league experience.
