  1. I love this show. The ups and downs these guys go through. All I know is I never want to be a pro bass fisherman.
  2. I got it in black but I've heard the color doesn't matter it's the action of the bait. It makes this plopping sound hence the name whopper plopper. I got the smaller size 90 that let's the smaller fish in on it. It was 12.99 on tw definitely worth it to me.
  3. Yesterday I had the most fun day of fishing with a topwater. I was throwing a whopper plopper and it was awesome. I don't see too many people talk about this lure. Is there a reason? Yesterday was my first time trying it and it was killing them.
  4. Has anyone used a Kistler klx? I just got one and I'm gonna use it for shakey heads. it's 7 ft med fast. Any thoughts about it would be appreciated. Thanks
  5. Went out yesterday on my birthday to neponset reservoir for a couple hrs. Wow that place is big maybe it just seems like it is cuz I was on my kayak but definitely the biggest place I've ever fished. I caught one 2 lb lmb and about a million pickerel. I literally couldn't make a cast without them grabbing the bait. I had to stop myself from setting the hook. A guy told me the pickerel were going crazy but I've never seen anything like that before. Still had a fun day and caught my birthday bass so that's all I wanted for my bday.
  6. I caught one yesterday on a squarebill. The day before I was just testing out a whopper plopper and had two blowups on it. Didn't catch them though but it was still pretty cool. I wouldn't have thought they would hit a topwater already.Hope everyone has a good weekend my birthday is on mothers day this year. Good thing my mom loves to go fishing. Haha
  7. I learned something and I appreciate this kid trying to help people that just started fishing like me. Probably not what guys that have been fishing for 30 years want to read but I do. I hope that people giving him crap about it doesn't stop him from posting.
  8. I finally started to figure out casting today with my tatula. No backlashes but I think I do want to get a left handed reel cuz I'm used to the spinning reel and switching hands just doesn't feel right.
  9. Mine was last may and it has started an obsession. I have been fully addicted to bass fishing since that day. The fish was about a pound and I caught it on a purple power worm. I still have the worm. Thank god my roommate took me fishing that day. It changed my life as crazy as that sounds. And these forums have taught me everything that I know about bass fishing.
  10. I would love to go down there on the weekends but I only have Sunday off and I don't wanna have to go too far. I'd rather stay around here until I get a real weekend. Hopefully work slows down soon. I do have a rack to transport. I'm still in the process of rigging my kayak. I can't wait to have it all set up.
  11. Yea I just put in for vacation to go to Plymouth in June my aunts got a house for a week. I can't wait to go down there. I saw someone catch a giant fish out of long pond on mafishfinder. I went to look at the charles river in Dedham and it was flowing so fast I think I'd be scared to go in my kayak. I'm not sure if it's like that everywhere or just the place I looked. I think Long pond has smallmouth too. I really wanna catch a smallmouth that's my goal this year.
  12. Every person I work with doesn't understand cpr. They all think I'm crazy for throwing all the fish back. They also think using artificial lures doesn't work but then I show them the pictures and they don't believe that's what I use. Bass fishing in Massachusetts must not be very popular because I don't know ten people that have any knowledge of it. The only person I can talk fishing with is my mom. She's gotten into it alot just by coming with me. She loves taking pictures of the fish. It's so funny as soon as she sees my rod bent she comes running with the camera.
  13. I've been working so much I haven't had anytime to fish. It's driving me crazy. In the meantime I've been buying all sorts of things for my kayak just got a new rod holder and these clips to put on the side to hold the paddle. I'm trying to find a lake to go to around my area. The biggest place I know of is canton reservoir and Norfolk reservoir. Does anyone know any other lakes that are good? I love being able to get on the water it changes everything. Some of the places I fishes last year I've learned so much by being able to look into the water. I found the places I would expect them to spawn. I can't wait to see a fish on a bed. I'm not sure if I will fish for them. What baits are you guys using this spring? Thanks guys
  14. This is what I am having problems with I've watched all the videos and think I am doing it right but the line is jumping off the spool. It doesn't make sense to me I've done what everyone has told me to do and it still is happening. I think I need someone to show me cuz I guess I'm not good at learning by watching videos. I don't think I've seen this video though so I'll watch it when I get home in the morning and hopefully it helps me. Anyway sorry for the rant and thanks for doing this.
  15. Went on my new kayak today and caught 2 small lmb on a red red eye shad tried everything but that's the only thing that worked. Got the tip from the kid who sold me the kayak. It is awesome to have a kayak. I can't wait til I don't have to worry about freezing to death if I fall in.
  16. Last summer I found this great spot that I caught tons of fish from. My roommate would always ask me where I was catching them and I told him a different place or it was a secret. Then at the end of the summer a kid we both know saw me there and told him where I was. I was so mad that kid had saw me and told him. I would never had revealed the location. But I guess it's okay since the my roommate needs me to tie his hooks on for him. And he's the one who got me into fishing.
  17. Just made my first order last night. Can't wait til they get here.
  18. I would keep trying if you caught one small one that means there are big ones that made the small one. And some giant fish can live in small ponds I caught a 6lber in a tiny pond like urs. I'd try the senko again that always works for me in ponds. Maybe try a chatterbait. Where are you in Massachusetts anyway? I bet that pond is loaded.
  19. Well I put on super Natural when I got home this morning. I just left it alone and put some kvd L&L I'm gonna try casting tomorrow to see if it worked. I think it will be okay. I didn't know not to free spool it I just thought the line would just stay there. I'm going to make sure to keep pressure on the line so that doesn't happen. Thanks to everyone that posted here. I really appreciate all the help I would be completely lost without this forum.
  20. Yup I don't think I had the drag tight when I tried the first time. I'm gonna try it again though I will not be denied. If it's the last thing I do I'm gonna get this d**n line to stay on there. Haha thanks alot man. I really appreciate it.
  21. Oh okay I just had it happen when I filled the whole spool with the yo zuri so I didn't want to waste a whole spool of line. So I should fill it and leave it alone maybe overnite until it has memory on my spool. Thank you I'm gonna try it when I get home from work in the morning.
  22. I actually just watched that video. I was putting on maybe a little less than a quarter full then press the button. I've tried the 16 lb mono and 14 lb floro and 15 lb yo zuri hybrid and it happened with all of them. I hope that all I have to do is put more pressure on it. I've watched a ton of videos and I think I'm doing it right but I just don't know. It's driving me crazy I feel so stupid.
  23. I went to this little pond in a tannery I used to walk by when I was in high school. I didn't even think there would be fish in it. I was fishing a chatterbait and it got demolished and as soon as the fish made a huge jump I see this 5 lber with my white chatterbait in its mouth as soon as it hit the water it was gone. Still can see the fish and it's the only one I can remember losing.
  24. And I have a Tatula a curado and a lexa. The lexa is the only one that I got the line to stay on.
  25. I forgot to say I was having someone hold it and was running it through a book with line conditioner on a paper towel. And holding it with my fingers putting pressure on the line as it goes on the spool. How much pressure do I have to put on it? It was pretty tight I thought it would've been good enough. Do you need to put it on extremely tight? I just got some kvd line and lure too I was using the bass pro stuff. Also I've been tying directly to the holes in the spool.
