4 reels, 4 rods...which with which?
Put your slow reels on your crankbait and Jig/worm rod. Put the fast ones on the trap and pitching rods. You want a winch like reel for cranks and plus the slower speed will help you slow your retrieve slightly. The jig/worm rod doesn't really matter as far as reel IMHO. You want a fast retrieve for burning traps and for retrieving your bait after a bad or unsuccessful pitch. Just one man's opinion. J

frog techniques??
I'd say your climate has a lot to do with it. The further south you go, it seems the better. Though I know northern guys that catch em on frogs. I guess it also depends on your lake's cover. J

frog techniques??
As the other poster stated, weeds are very vital. The best weeds that work for me are the broken up slimy weeds that grow over and stick to hydrilla. You can use a frog in other places such as near a laydown but the weeds are your best bet. I found the most success using the frogs during the heat of summer. You usually won't catch them at noon but if you are on the water first thing in the morning or just as the sun starts setting you will be in the action. Bass can and will strike at just about any time during the retrieve but the most likely time is at odd places in the weeds. Anywhere there is a cut-in or little hole in the weeds, I like to run the frog up to that point and then pause. You can just feel the bass watching. Once I hop him off the weedy spot onto the open hole, I pretend I am that frog trying to get the hell outta there! That is usually where the strike occurs. The best retrieve in my opinion is the 3 hop. Hop it three short rod jerks and then pause. If you really think about it, put yourself in the place of the prey and act as it would act. In my opinion, most of the frogs are created equal. The Bronzeye, swamp donkey and sumo are all basically the same thing. I trim the skirt legs back a bit to avoid short strikes. You will need a stout rod, MH or H and braid to cut through the weeds. When the fish explodes on the lure you will have to experiment with the hookset, this is the most difficult part. I like to wait until a two count, reel in the slack and give em hell. Some people reel in the slack until they feel the fish but usually when I do this the fish spits the lure. J

Rod Help?
If it were me, I'd take 100 bucks and some change and get you a St. Croix rod. You can probably pick up a Premier for a little over 100. J

Loomis Frog Rod
That is good info. I wonder how much the Daiwa L and T weighs. That is the one I am eyeing right now. J

Best 7' Crankbit Rod Ufor $100.00
Another vote for the Crankin Stick. I have the 6 and a half foot version in M. It will flat out sail a bait through the air. It is fairly light and not bad looking. I'd rather have an Avid or Loomis but hell you can buy a M and MH and still have 40 bucks left for some cranks. You can't beat that. J

Lakes in KY with lots of weeds?
I just moved away from KY lake and Barkley and now that the weeds are coming back I am going to miss some nice fishing. That being said, are there any lakes around Lexington such as Guist, Herrington, Taylorsville, etc. that have weeds? J

Anyone have any experience with this rod? I don't own a Loomis but I love frog fishing and this may be the one for me to start with. Thanks J

Devcon 2 ton
Walmart is the best source. After you pick it up near the paint section, head to the toys section and model aisle and pick up the testor brushes. J

pescatarians
Funny story... I was talking to the in-laws the other day. They were talking about my sister in law. She is always sick. She is a vegan. Me being me, I put two and two together. So I blurt out, "That girl needs to get some meat". Meaning, she needs to not be such a vegan. Of course I caught myself right at the very end which made everyone pay even more attention. Awkward silence. J

Must do Modifications
I think they corrected it with this year's model (someone correct me if I am wrong). But I think that just about everyone that buys a rattletrap changes the hooks out. J

Painting lures
I really recommend spray cans of paint. It isn't precise but with masking and a steady hand, you can make some nice stuff. J

Abu Garcia Revo S makes me feel like a newb
I finally figured it out. It should say something for Abu's though. The side plate had such a tight tolerance, I really had to pull to get it to rotate. 8-) J

Jig skirt question
It isn't much of a suggestion but I'd go to Jann's and order one of each type of material. There are about 5 types and see which matches best. J

Abu Garcia Revo S makes me feel like a newb
Hey guys. I just bought a new Revo S (LH of course). It is my second Revo. I have an SX also. My problem is that I can't seem to get to the internal brake to set it. Is there some trick that I am missing? Thanks J
