  1. Yeah, you and I said about the same thing. I'm interested in the other methods though. I always though removal and reapplication was the only way. Any other method would save a ton of time. J
  2. I'm interested to see if anyone's tip helped. J
  3. I own one. It is the first LH BC reel that I bought. I love it. It casts great and I have never had any problems out of it. I've had it for over a year now. Hope that helps. J
  4. Dip it in thinner and start all over and even them I'm not too sure. Sticky epoxy is usually caused by a bad mix of the two components. Once it's sticky it will always be that way. Can't recoat or anything. J
  5. Thanks for the info guys. I guess I will try one out and if I don't like it hopefully I can return it. Thanks again. J
  6. What can I expect from this card? Will it look just like the paper hot spots maps? Anyone have any screenshots? I hate dropping $100 bucks on something I can't see until I get home. Thanks J

Nope but im doing a web search right this minute! :-?
  8. Oh, no offense at all toward the procaster. The Accurist had a few nice features (flippin switch for one) that looked attractive. I guess I'm going to have to crack the $100 mark myself. Already did it with rods, just need to do it with reels and get it over with. J
  9. Thanks guys. I really like Daiwas but the only reel they have below $100 buck is the procaster. I have one Quantum. Its a cheapy Mantra in LH. I put it on my St. Croix and that combo is my absolute fav. Thanks again for the replys. J
  10. Yup, can't go wrong with a tube. J
  11. Anyone have this reel? Opnions? Or should I just save up and go to the Energy PT? Thanks J

Whittler I spent half of last night trying to figure out how you did those scales on your foil. Figured it out this morning. All I can say is AWESOME!! I completely never though about that. I've used ratchet handles, all thread rods. I've even hand drew them. That is the best technique ever. J
  13. Any lure that runs shallow, has a line tie off the bill and has wire that is soft enough to bend is a good candidate. I found this while trying to tune the cranks I make. J
  14. Absolutely. If the lure goes too deep, you're going to be confined to using the top angle of the line tie. J
  15. I attached a picture to illustrate. I agree with you String but I'm not tuning them to be intentionally squirrelly. I'm tuning them to give the angler more control. It is awesome to run a crank by a laydown and drop the rod tip (it takes some practice) and crash into the cover. The ones that hunt unintentionally cant be predicted or controlled. A bait that hunts has something wrong with it. Maybe the balancing weight is set to the side. Maybe the split ring is hitting a sweet spot when it runs up the eye. Just my thoughts. J
  16. There's a lot of people on here with stories about how they went fishing with someone that used a less superior lure and outfished said person handily. There are a few pros and cons in my honest opinion. Pros 1. Not many people can afford them. They offer the fish a view of something different. 2. The finishes are nice (maybe not superior to all others though). 3. The components are of high quality (but a sharper hook does not necessarily cost 10 dollars more). Cons 1. Not the most durable lures made. I think the thing that everyone overlooks is this fact... If you pay 15-30 dollars for a lure you will have supreme confidence in that lure. And that makes that lure more effective than any $5 lure you could ever get. Just my opinion. J
  17. I wouldn't rule it out off-hand. I'm sure any of the wires can be bent to some degree. The real problem lies in the material around the wire. If the wire is too stiff its going to break the balsa. I had that problem with my lures when I used tempered steel wire. Also, the wires in my lures don't attach to the bills, so I don't know how it will work if you bend a tie attached to a bill. I guess its a happy side effect of having to use soft wire on my baits. J
  18. I'm going to give away a secret here because you guys are good people... You want to tune a crank to hunt, its simple. Bend the line tie at an angle so that the top faces the right side of the lure more than the bottom. Make sure the middle is as close to proper tune as possible. As you lower and drop the rod tip, the split ring will move up and down and will either be at center which is in tune, at bottom which will veer off one direction or top which will veer the other. I use pretty soft copper and brass in my cranks which helps because it is easy to bend. Hope that helps. J
  19. I completely agree with Aaron. Use the Horny Toads in the Brown and white color (cant remember what its called) and the Zoom hooks. You can catch them without those specific hooks, just have a couple packs of the frogs and expect to use one per fish. J
  20. That's one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time. But yes, through the wood and epoxy you can still hear the rattle and so can the fish. J
  21. Well May is probably not the best time to target Crappie here. They may be a little scattered. Minnows are just fine for Crappie but don't be suprised to catch everything but. I don't know how much of a secret technique this is but I fish a tube jig under a bobber. The bobber has to be the pear shaped bobber. Just twitch it through the water. J
  22. You can, but the noise is made by the rattles hitting something very hard. The bbs themselves make a bit of noise when hitting each other but most of the noise is generated by the bbs knocking other bbs into plastic, glass, metal, etc. You could be creative on a lure if you drilled a hole through and capped each end with anything special (small brass sheet, plastic, etc.). The key is to just be creative. That was the best thing that came from Whittler's post. J
  23. More like these...except plastic. Pyrex may be able to be ground. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=37706&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults Hope that helps. J
  24. After you've built the bait, drill a hole drop a rattle in so the bbs rattle side to side (when it wobbles). You may need to nip off the end of the rattle (hope its plastic). Just cover the end with foil and epoxy over. Sounds over simplistic but it really is. Hope that helps. J
  25. Thanks for the help guys. I was thinking SB in the back of my mind but wasn't really sure. Thanks again. J
