  1. I agree completely but I like the Elite a little better than the Siege. Both are top notch lines in my opinion though. J
  2. You don't need any fancy equipment. And nets qualify as fancy equipment. I don't keep one in my boat. If others want to bring one aboard fine. I think it harms the fish and seems unsporting especially when you use an 5 foot handle!! The problem is that people watch Bassmasters and take the bad habits and leave the good. Don't take the bad habit of trying to horse to fish to the boat. I've had partners get ticked at me for letting the fish play out. Secondly, take the good habit, the Elite pros grab the line with one hand, that helps stabilize the fish and allows you to get a hold. JMO J
  3. I agree with Cajun. If you have never used Floro before, its going to take some getting used to. The Pline seemed to me to be the less stiff of all the floros but it is still quite stiff compared to mono. J
  4. I understand Reelmech's explanation of the different materials costing more but it really seems like Abu is jumping onto the Shimano bandwagon now by way overcharging as soon as their intro product takes off. J
  5. I had that same problem while night fishing with one of their night spinners. Tieing on a new one at night was not fun. After that I check the gaps on the wire loops since their quality dept. can't seem to do so. J
  6. The original Sam is the still the best. Awesome with a nice plate of fish and chips. Flat Tire is pretty good stuff too. Stone IPA is good for an IPA. Sour stuff though and not really my cup of tea (or beer). Bud Select for everyday drinkage. J
  7. I've caught fish on all of them. For some reason, smallies seemed to like the LC better. I didn't notice much difference in the running. It did seem like the LC stayed down during a quick burn. J
  8. For me, colors on topwaters lures are like the garnish on my plate with my steak. It looks nice but serves no real purpose. If you doubt that, get a black one and a white one and put them in a swimming pool on a sunny day and dive underneath. HOWEVER, I like to pick really froggy looking colors because it puts me in the right mindset. J
  9. Lake description: Creek that has been dammed. Basically a flooded creek. Water depth is 40 feet tops at the creek channel. 20 feet mostly around that and shallower slowly tapering banks. Water temperature is low 70's, bass are coming off the beds. There is a lot of flooded timber and stake beds for cover. There are a few rock piles, a flooded railroad and flooded paved road. The lake gets a ton of pressure and can produce large bass. That is what I am mostly after. How would you fish this lake? J
  10. Keep in mind that the hook size and weight will affect the fall of the worm differently. Use the hook that works best for your situation. I use 4/0 for 10" powerworms when C-rigging. It keeps the bait off the bottom longer. J
  11. For what it's worth, I'm not having any trouble out of mine. I would be very surprised if Daiwa had put out a reel that had not been thoroughly durability tested. Now with lesser quality components and/or work, you may have a batch that has inferior attributes. You must not confuse this with bad design though. J
  12. I just bought one and I haven't had a chance to fish it but it is unbelievably light. J
  13. Very well said. I'll go one further. You pay for the name brand and the history of the previous models. J
  14. I've seen pictures both ways and I always wondered. J
  15. I'm impressed. I love this forum. I honestly can't imagine going anywhere else but at a time I did because it seemed a few "blue" members were flaunting that status and using it like a badge of honor to bash any new members or "greenies". You took away the post count first and now a clear message stating intent to enforce the rules consistently. I am no one here, just another poster, another clicker on banner ads and I am sure you are going to make some unhappy but I think its a class act. J

An expert does not blue make you. ;D
  17. You are right, drilling there is a horrible idea. And I finally realize why. That oil must be saved and taken at a time when the opportunity presents. When the rest of the oil runs out we will need some, otherwise there is going to be Mad Max style carnage. J
  18. You're right and you're wrong. $118 oil is definitely not right. And you are right there is no fundamental shortage but many people believe that oil production has now peaked. Either the point is there or has been crossed already where the demand is outstripping the supply. Unfortunately when that happens the price can be set where ever still allows consumers to buy. I saw a documentary on this recently and the big factor in high oil prices is 3 billion new oil consumers. China and India. If one collapses anytime soon, oil prices will fall guaranteed. I do agree that if we go into a recession and force the rest of the world in it also, then during the recovery, our dollar will gain strength and that may also cause oil prices to drop. Just my opinion. J
  19. I'd take 60-80 bucks and go get two BPS Crankin Sticks. Then I'd take the rest and feed the monkey. J
  20. It is definitely a go to bait for me although I have to use the toad type and not the frog type. If there is grass on, the toad is the go to bait. If its dead of winter then obviously it won't work. And usually the frog only works during mornings and dawn if the heat is really on. J
  21. They are best thrown over submerged vegetation but will work well over shallow drops or other shallow structure or cover. J
  22. Yeah it is his land but maybe he could have found a less visible place to display the carcasses. J
  23. Read Snopes. He debunks several of the statements and others are quite trivial. J
