Are muskie and pike good eating
When I was in Canada this past summer pike fishin they called the pike poor mans lobster. They only wanted the ones in the 20" or so size (bigger ones are catch and release). They fixed some for us and they were right, excellent eatin dipped in butter. Nice firm meat similar to lobster. Another note, it was in Saskatchewan and Walleye were referred to as Pickerel and Pike were called Jacks.

How to pick out a braided line HELP!!!!!!
I've been using 50# power pro and like it. It's now time for me to respool so based on what I've seen here I just bought and am going to try the 50# suffix. I suspect I will be pleased with it too.

Brady vs Manning
Thats like pickin between a red porshe and a blue porshe.....they are both great talents...I'm partial to Manning only because of the ties to The Univ of Tenn. I really think that Brady is in a better orginization with a better coach which is IMHO why he has the rings and Peyton doesn't.

Are You Ready for Some NFL Trash Talk
RW, I agree that you have a great young QB waiting in the wings....although I'm a Vol fan I have watched and admire Jay Cutler as he played for Vanderbilt in Nashville. I think you got the best QB in last years draft and I was happy to see him go with the Broncos, without a doubt he got the best situation of the three top drafted QB's. I'm also sort of pulling for the Bronco's since the Titans are not a factor....they have my all time favorite TN Volunteer....Mr Al Wilson.....He was the team leader when we won the national championship and willed that team to the top.....something Peyton Manning was never able to accomplish.

the pennants are in view the trash is flying 2007
yeah, its a word, we used that on Staten Island too, I think I heard it some when when I was in St Louis, those guys kept using it when they were talkin about winning the series When the baseball schedule comes out next year we can figure it out.....maybe we can go to a game one day and get GMAN to show us a fishin hole the next day?

Muddy....thanks for starting this thread....first and formost it has been an awsome way to get to know all you fishin baseball fans.....for that I am most grateful....even though most of "yous guys" like to make fun of my Yankees ;D......and all you Red Bird fans eventually had me rootin for em even though I'm an AL guy this has also made the baseball season way more fun.... Soooo......I hate this to end BUT..........theres always next year.....which......I was thinkin (which is dangerous)......... It would be fun for the "baseball crew" to have a get together. Whats everyone think about gettin together in St Louis one weekend next summer for a Cards vs Mets game (in honor of The Muddy Man who got this going) ??????????

making the leap finally to baitcasting
Muddy....I jumped into the baitcasting last spring just like you are doing now. I have one spinning setup like you w a 6'6" MF. My baitcast rods are a 6'6" MH-F, 7' MH-F and a 7' M-MF. I don't know if it's totally right but I use the spinning rod for finesse stuff, The 6'6" MHF for jigs, the 7'MMF is a crankbait rod and the 7'MHF has braid and I use it in heavy weeds and when I went to Canada this one was perfect for the big pike.

looking to get my first "real" pole for christmas
Much good advice already given. My suggestion would be a St Croix Premier MHF. I would normally say a MF as I think it a better choice for just bass and walleye but you will need the MHF for big pike and muskie and it can be used for the bass and walleye. Depending on your budget for a reel I would get a Shimano Sedona, Sahara, Semetre or Stradic in the 2500 size. I recommend a braid line in 30 lb (this has the diameter of 8 lb mono, my reasoning here is the same for chosing the MHF rod. This will always be an excellent setup for pike and muskie and good for all around bass and walleye fishing. As you get more funds to buy more gear you will probably want to add a MF rod with a different line (different options on line) as it will give you more versatility for bass and walleye situations.

Well now that baseballs over I thought I'd give this one more try.....so here goes: Where have the Steelers gone, will the Broncos finish em off next week? Peyton Manning vs Tom Brady next week.....this time Vinateri is wearin a horseshoe! Will the Rams overtake the once mighty Hawks, its a dead heat! TO & RomO is it a match made in heaven ;D? Whats you guys got to say!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting statistical food for thought. I do alot more reading than posting. Most folks here have alot more experience than I so I'm doing alot more learning than teaching. I post when I think I have something to add, share, or be of some kind of support. Sometimes we all post when there is a thread that strikes our fancy and is just meant for fun. I suspect there are a few more learners like me out there who do more reading than posting. I do read alot of stuff more than once as I can be a slow learner That having been said I'll take this opportunity to thank all those who share their knowledge and experience with those of us who benefit so richly from it.

Accents
I think accents are great. I grew up in NYC but have lived in Nashville since the mid 70's. I guess now I have this strange mixture of a NY and Southern combination accent. Actually it seems that depending who I'm around I can be bilingual with the accents. (ie....fugggeddaboudit ya'll) It's a shame that with folks moving around so much it seems regional accents are diminshing and before long we'll all sound like TV reporters with no real accent.

Fave DT Rapala color?
I've been wanting to try these for a while so I finally made a trip to BPS after work last night and picked up a DT6 and a DT4 in bluegill and shad. Between the baitmonkey and all the stuff I've read here about these I had to get some. I've been using mostly bandits, wonder if these will work significantly better, either way I'm gonna have fun trying them out. Now I need to find some time soon before it gets too cold to go out and try them.
