I have also got the first fish jinx. Another thing that jinx's me is a camera, I never catch a big one when I have a camera availible.
  2. I am with RattlinRogue, dead quiet and then a big bass blowing up on a frog.
  3. My initial goal was to be fit and in shape, I missed the goal for the first tournament, but I am getting there for the rest of the year. After about a week I can run 2.5 miles or so without a break, been running/walking for 30 minutes a day for the last week.
  4. Be careful if you plan on eating the fish from golf courses, there are lots of chemicals and fertilizers used on the grass.
  5. I agree that leaving it alone would be best, but maybe you can compromise and cut some to make a clear path across the lake and mark it with flags. :-/

Have you tried the 2nd volume, I find it was even better than the 1st altough they are both great?
  7. When fishing docks there are some things to look for. 1) Wood, anytime you can find a wood dock it will hold more algae and attract more fish 2) Posts holding the docks up, instead of just barrels and styrofoam 3) Rod Holders, if there are rod holders on the dock usually there is a brush pile below them 4) Fishing lanterns, also a sign there could be brush piles
  8. I would say 50/50, no true favorite.
  9. Have some frogs or other weedless lures, farm ponds usually have alot of weeds.
  10. Yep, I caught 2 bass and had 2 others on Matt's baby bass swimbaits which are as close to life like as you will ever see.

You can customize them to how you want, and satisfaction. Catching fish on something I built is always exciting.
  12. First thing I do is look at the conditions to get me started. Is the water muddy and causing the fish to hug the cover, whats the water temperature, and how has the weather been. After I have narrowed it down to where the fish are and how they will act I will start trying for the first bite. From the one fish I look at the cover, structure, where the shades at, sun, clouds, wind, depth, clarity, how it bite the lure, retrieve, lure, depth the fish bite at, and color. I then try to duplicate the situation, but keep my mind open.
  13. Just throw it out and reel it in while twitching, jerking, bumping, rolling, dropping, speeding up, slowing down, and popping to draw a strike. The fish will sometimes tell you how they want it retrieved. Always use a trailer hook.

I don't think salt does much for a scent, altough probably helps with taste.
  15. Don't buy it, it's not worth it. The only thing that I liked was the Classic coverage.
  16. I recycle all of mine, even mix the brands when repouring
  17. Pyrex measuring cup and microwave.
  18. This might help you get started Mid-American Bassmasters James D. Kenney SR., President 1540 SW Village Dr. Topeka, KS 66604 Tel# 913-272-6667
  19. I found it on the Bassmaster website, in the department on Elite Series on Amistad. I believe it was day 2, and picture number 13. It was a little bigger there.
  20. Here is all I could find, hopefully there will be a close up at the next tournament. Along the side it reads "THESE COLORS DON'T RUN!"
  21. Try some tighter wiggling crankbaits like a speed trap, and also a crawdad color being red or brown.
  22. Tubes have a great body for flipping and pitching thick stuff and weeds, they don't have any arms or flippers that are going to tangle on the way down. They also will glide all over if you don't kill the action with heavy weight. I really enjoy fishing them weightless like you would a fluke. A little trick for fishing texas rigged, is to make a 1/2" on the bottom of the tube where your hook comes around for a better hookset.
  23. My vote is that if you are a competitive angler you are an athlete. Is Tiger Woods an athlete? definition of athlete: An athlete is a person possessing above average physical skills (strength, agility, and endurance) and thus seen suitable for physical activities, in particular, contests
  24. Megastrike; clean, efficient, and will last forever on a bait. Never go without it, if its cold I stick it in my pocket.
