BassMaster Mag. - Day on the Lake.
The pro's don't even know where they are or going. While talking to Ike he said the reporter blindfolded him and then drove to the lake only taking the blindfold off when they arrived.

bass suspending 2-3 ft under surface.
First you want to be fishing at their level or above them, you don't want to fish below. I would try a suspending jerkbait. Throw it past him and twitch it towards the fish, when you are right in front of the fish let it sit for 10 seconds or so and if they don't hit it give a couple hard jerks trying to get reaction bite. Also a buzzbait might work.

if your not having a good day
I always have a good day on the water. If I am not catching fish like I should, I tend to blame it on shore fishing thinking all the fish must be on deeper structure I can't find.

Cheaters!!!
You should leave the jugs and fish alone, immediately contacting the Wildlife and Park officials to take care of business.

#400 Caught ....... UPDATE#2 ..... w/pic
Hey, I know that guy! He was the KS Federation rep. at the National Championship a couple years ago and I fished against him in the Qualifiers, and beat him.

best tip ever?
You gotta get bit before you can catch a fish, so don't be afraid to throw in nasty places.

Salt sinking when pouring
I am having a problem with all the salt when pouring. I use a microwave and pyrex measuring cup and then stir it with a spoon. When I get the plastic heated to where I want to pour it I stir really good and then the salt sinks to the bottom when I quit. Then the first half of worms I pour are super soft, then when I get down towards the bottom the lures are filled with way to much salt. Do I need to stir more? I use the fine salt from Del-Mart, it came with a package deal.

Techniques with a rattletrap and swimbait
Try ripping the bait. Let the rattle trap catch a little grass on the retrieve and then give it a solid pop to free the grass and cause a reaction strike.

Drives me nuts
I don't throw overhand much, it makes a louder splash. I would rather go sidearm, and for the shorter casts I do a little sidearm circle cast which is very quiet, fast, and efficient with some work.

Eye sight 20/20
That could explain why the bite is better at dawn and dusk.....THEY CANT SEE VERY WELL!They just hit anything during those times. Bass adjust faster than most species, so thats why the morning and evening bite is better. When the shad and bluegill are still trying to adjust the bass are out and eating.

The book "Knowing Bass The scientific angle to catching more bass" goes through the process.

Neat tricks
I learned this one at Bassmaster University. When using a palomer knot the excess line is pointing up which catches the weeds, so if you tie a simple overhand knot with the tag end the excess line points down.

how far have u gone?
In 2002, I went to the Junior Bassmaster National Championship in Deleware. It was a long drive from Kansas to Deleware, 1500 miles which was 2 days of driving. I ended up in 5th place, got some free stuff and had a great time.

Big bass patterns
I seen most of the tournament, I missed the part though when the 6 pounder moved 5 miles up a creek, had to leave for work. It was very interesting. That would be cool to fish for him, knowing where he is at to see which presentation he would fall victim to.
