  1. yeah i was thinking it would score in the 150s but i agree about the main beams, the biggest circumfrence i recorded (the least circumfrence between two of the tines) was 6 2/8 inches and the G2 and G3 tines in the picture dont look as long as they really are esp on the left antler. Recorded spread was only 16 5/8 inches.
  2. This is only my second buck ever taken. Its a 10 pointer, and i green scored it and it scored about 163 6/8.....which sounds big....the antlers are pretty massive....but does that sound too big for the picture? Anyways it was my first evening out for our firearms season and i knew my uncle had a few big deer on his property so i was hoping to see one....annnnnd i did. For the past month i have been putting corn down in an area i like to hunt and it just snowed a few days ago and you could see so many paths leading to the corn so that was pretty promising. I got down there about 1:30 and about 2:15 i saw a yearling wondering about so i watched him for awhile....and didnt see another deer (this one) until 5:08... by the way it was like 15 degrees, anyways i was in the middle of taking off my hat and fixing my mask and i looked up and he was moving crosswise so i threw my stuff back on, grabbed my gun and waited for an open shot, he continued to move and never presented a shot until he moved 15 yards closer and one shot and he dropped straight to the ground...i had never done that before, it was a 35-40 yard shot.... ....next year, im bow hunting alright now that i shared mine i want to see some of ya'll success out in the field, so POST 'EM!
  3. you can solve the TM problem by getting a Quick release TM bracket so you can just take off the TM and put it in the back and not have to worry about the extra weight on your back.....i have a bracket but i dont need it...if you end up needing or wanting one give me a shout cause its brand new, i didnt want to use it cause my boats on a trailer and weight doesnt matter to me
  4. i wasnt coming down on the gun, my grandpa had one and it was incredible....i just remebered how light it was and thought that for myself the kick (3 1/2" mags) would be too much, i shoot a benelli nova so im used to a little heavier gun....sorry for the confusion, oh and the nova was designed for the military also...
  5. ouch i'd hate to be shooting any featherlite with duck loads.....i feel bad for your shoulder
  6. can anyone tell me if 3 1/2 inch #2's are big enough for canadians? or do i need to step it up to BB size? cause i want to use these for ducks too....
  7. we're going quail hunting this weekend...her first time...ill post sunday night how that goes ;D
  8. well i have some wonderful news....a guy my dad works with is real good with dogs and hunting dogs especialy anyways i have taken her over the past couple evenings and then today she spent the day at his house and he called me about lunch time and told me he had her in his front yard off the leash.....oh crap.....but she stayed with him and followed him...well he taught me a few key things, a check cord and whistle are invaluble and that she needs a HUGE amount of exercise.....more than i was giving her, so i went over there after school and sure enough she was doing good....now i just need to work with her everyday doing the drills he taught me.....it may just be that in a few weeks/months she'll be "cured" kinda....anyways im real happy and shes goin on her first quail hunt soon
  9. alright so i have a 15 month old brittany that i got for upland bird hunting....she has a problem with running off and not responding to the "come" command. once she gets about 35 or 40 yards away and i tell her to come, she wont....then she just takes off...im not sure what to do because if i have her on the leash or inside and tell her to come she does it right away (i use a 25ft leash). my backyard isnt fenced in, and all the public fenced in areas that i know of are all "no pets allowed"....i do have an e-collar but i havent used it, we have done all of our training with a choke chain and check cord.....any advice on how to help cure this? its most likely something im doing wrong but i dont have the money to send her to a professional trainer.
  10. wow....thanks, that was probably the most comprehinsive detailed instruction that i have heard about this...thanks again way2slow...i owe ya one
  11. well i winterized my boat a few weeks back and when i went to drain the L/U oil i saw this.... uhhhhggg i dont think that is what its supposed to look like....could this be a leak in the seal? if so what seal? and how does water effect my motor? when i bought the boat the guy had changed the L/U oil right before we went on a test drive, and it checked out....but now it doesnt look so good....would it even be worth it to service this motor (Johnson 20hp 1973?) or can i continue to run it as long as i dont let the oil/water mix freeze?
  12. best advice is to be patient....wait for a deal to come your way
  13. i live smack dab in the middle of the country....kansas....and in all honesty i dont think the majority of us have accents....its very odd, though it might just be that we have a little bit of everything mix together, but with the exception of a few country boys, city "gangstas", and my grandma our language is almost what one might call normal.... now for a question i pose to any linguistics majors on the forum....when and why did we (americans) lose our weird english accent....what caused that change?
  14. well i would like cabelas gift cards in any denomonation....also a bps is opening up near me so also bps giftcards....so i can get some new gear including misc. hunting stuff and some new duck decoys ;D (btw cabelas has a nice wish list option.....i already sent mine to my mom)
  15. i just bought some yesterday (cabelas 5mm neoprene) and they have rubber lugs on the bottom...thats just what im used to i guess...
  16. cabelas ships and i get it about 3 days later
  17. yay for chiodos
  18. country and alternative....and indie
  19. i was just wondering if i can leave my trolling motor on the boat all winter outside....or if it would be better to take it off and bring it inside?
  20. i might use it for confidence but personally i dont think it matters....but hey if your catchin more fish with it than without it why not?
  21. not trying to hijack the thread but i have a 1970 something johnson 20hp.....do i need to use fogging oil? (what does fogging oil do?)...the boat will be stored outside....do i need to let the motor run until it runs out of gas? i have never winterized a boat myself but i need to learn how to...
  22. so uhhh where in easter kansas are you located? :
  23. well i dont know much about this but your logic seems backwards (if im wrong please explain it to me) but it seems the more weight you add to a boat the slower it would move with the same hp engine, thus you could be allowed more hp so that the boat could move a little better, also a lighter boat doesnt require as much hp as a heavier boat, so i assume the weight of the boat might be a factor when they are setting the hp rating....
