  1. I think it was one of the Classic's that was won using a Wopper Plopper. I didn't buy one! I've been through my share of rods though..
  2. Only you "Hootie"........... LMAO! "Hootie" isn't 119 years old.............. just sayin!
  3. I use a Lowrance 5x HDI, works for me! I do like the Ray Marine Dragonfly.. Both are reasonably priced.
  4. I've had good success with P-Line CX.
  5. I have a black medium and an elite heavy. Both are very nice rods. I use the elite for some Jigs and Frogs and the medium for a number of baits. Lipless cranks, jerk baits, swim jigs... They're under rated rods. I also have higher end rods that are task specific. You don't always have to spend heavy for all your rods.
  6. You may want to use the rod and reel as they are. It doesn't sound to me like it's a problem. Once you add a bait all bets are off anyway. Use it and enjoy it. You really don't have a problem.
  7. What rods have you looked or held at so far? Did you like any of them?
  8. Braid on all my casting reels. CX leader on a few.
  9. I use a mono backing to. Never have a problem. I also flip the line, Its brand new under there.
  10. I like braid for everything. I'll use a CX leader in open water.
  11. Sounds like your new to bass fishing. I would suggest joining the Bass Academy. Good reading and videos. You tube will get you a boost too. Check out the NED rig, lipless cranks, spinnerbaits, various jigs and top water baits. Read up on and pay attention to water color, temperature, structure, cover and depths.
  12. Try the new Trilene knot or a Palomar. I use both, never have a problem. Should you decide to use a popper use a ring.
  13. I don't do much of that anymore.. I just go out of my mind and reset when the ice thaws.
  14. If you don't mind a minimal reel seat go for the Powell. I unfortunately find them to be very uncomfortable.
  15. Would have been nice if they had done the proper engineering and offered a reliable design. If they had I would have been a customer. I'll stick with Lews.
  16. Ok, talk to you then. Enjoy Daytona.
  17. Looks good, you'll be able to get to places you can't with a bigger boat. Are you going to put a gas motor on it?
  18. That cast was a good call! Nice catch. Looks like your going to have a great 2016... Congrats!
  19. The batteries would put out 24 volt if you cross the positive with negative. So, just connect the positive to the other positive and then negatives to each other and you will still have 12 volts.
  20. I found some information online about bass and striper fishing on the river, supposedly it's good. Of course the articles don't say where. I'm going to get on it and motor around this spring. If your in the mood to take a canoe ride let me know.
  21. My gear is every bit as good as I am.
