  1. I'm not a Shimano fan, I think they are over rated and over priced now a days. That has nothing to do with my opinions of higher end reels. Your taking my comments out of context. I'm not arguing with you at all. Did it ever occur to you you may be being laughed at by others that have read this thread. You may keep stomping your feet though. It's amusing. Here's a Diawa I like.
  2. Could be but that's what I've been told and read here and there.
  3. I use the boating app on my iphone 5. I have a Lowrance 5x HDI. Can you tell me how can I link them?
  4. The weather in Southern New England has been lousy. We got a few warmer sunny days and it spurred the bass on, then came the clouds and cold with rain. The bass turned right off. Still waiting on the sun to come out and the winds to slow before I go back out.
  5. You mentioned a couple of custom/boutique reels. That's super high end stuff. I'll have to look into them further. You have peaked my curiosity.
  6. The biggest difference is Flouro in clear water. In darker water it's not really a big deal either way. Maybe a little more stretch with mono. If you go with 20# line I don't think there's much of a difference.
  7. They do, and a ring lock with the screw. If you need a lefty nut you have to get it from Lews.
  8. My mention of the number of pro's using Lews reels was in direct response to the above post. I like the 95mm handle and wide thin knobs.
  9. Good to hear there are guys out there fishing with them. They're all over eBay at reduded prices for last years models. I almost went for one but never had a chance to even handle one first so I passed. I bought a 7' Magnum custom speed stick for jigging. Would have been nice to compare it to the new micro magic.
  10. I figured there would be some threads about them. I suppose many fellow bass anglers on here just aren't interested in them.
  11. AmericanLegacyFishing has them on sale too. That Shimano reel only has 6 ball bearings. It seems every month there are a few dealers offering big discounts on popular reels. I think it's about market share and valued sales outlets. a Good philosophy.
  12. There are more pro's using Lews than any other reel on the market. If you think they can do better I suggest you let them know.
  13. I don't believe he was trashing any gear or anyone. He simply provided an analogy. I agree with him and I can afford any gear out there. I was casting Bantam Lites back in the 80s. Back then they were $120.00. Personally I wouldn't pay $120.00 for anything Shimano offers these days. Price aside its my opinion the Lews product is outstanding.
  14. Do mean today? 1:55am post... or Thursday? I f you got it today tell us what you think of it. My two didn't show, I called the ALF, I was told my reels had not shipped yet. I bought them Monday? I'm a little bummed but hey they'll get here for the weekend. I can live with that.
  15. Oh wow! That Garnin is amazing.
  16. You guys remember the Shimano Bantams? I thought they were the cats meow back then. How far they've come!
  17. This is an east shore, all gravel from 1-4 feet then gravel and rocks out to 6-9. Water temp is 60-61 degree's. Water color is dark. Wind is from the NW at 8mph. Rained Monday, SE winds were at 15mph, Today was cloudy until noon, then sunny. Air temp was high 50s to low 60s each day. Point faces WNW. So where should the bass be right now? What bait would you throw? (a known spawning area)
  18. I'm like an impatient kid waiting on my reels to arrive. Well said Dink. Keep the rods in mind too. My magnum 1 is fantastic.
  19. I saw that style in BP or Cabela's recently. Take a ride to your local stores and have a look.
  20. I like throwing tubes. Black with blue works well for me. 3"-4" depending on conditions. Here's a tip, Last summer I pushed a tube over a 1/2oz ball head jig and added a Johnson beetle spin wire to it. My new tube spinner became an instant success. I use this often now. My catch on these is about twice what it was on a beetle spin.
  21. Doesn't matter which style crank or depth... Just name your favorite color crank! I like Tennessee Shad
  22. LMAO..... I hate the basteerds!
