  1. Great stuff. Good job investigating the sound. Some people might have ignored it and kept on going.
  2. The DSG near me stinks. Their fishing section is about as big as a truck. It stinks.
  3. I am looking to buy a new spinning rod to use for weightless lure, wacky rigs, dropshots, and Mojo Rigs. The one I have now just isn't cutting it. I am looking for something in the $50-$70 price range. Reason being is I am a die hard baitcaster guy and it's going to take some time for me to truly want to invest in a quality expensive rod. I want to make sure I actually use it first. Any tips would be great. I have an Academy about 5 minutes from the house.
  4. Havoc Pit boss is a decent one. I can use 1 for multiple fish if it's rigged right. I normally use super glue to secure the top if it to the eyelet of the hook to prevent it from sliding up and wearing out the hole in it.
  5. #1 goes to a 1/2oz white and chart spinnerbait with a silver willow leaf and bronze small colorado. #2 is a Texas rigged creature bait. I can cover a lot of water and depths with those 2 setups.
  6. I have a spinning setup, but its an ugly stick GX2 6'6" MED rod and has zero backbone. I'm hoping to upgrade soon to a nicer rod I can also use for dropshotting.
  7. I have a small selection of rod/reels. But a 7' MH baitcaster with 50# braid and a 14# flouro or 20# mono leader. 5o work hook, and idk about the work yet. I will probably go with 3/8oz split shot or cylinder mojo weight. Maybe heavier depending on wind.
  8. I'm gagging just thinking about that. I hate hair in my shower drain, much less pulling it out of a lake.
  9. Caught a diaper once while cranking the bottom.
  10. Seems like it'd be a nice defense again curious cottonmouths.
  11. White and Chart spinnerbait. Caught my PB, then 5 minutes later in the EXACT SAME SPOT beat it again with the same spinnerbait lol
  12. Or better yet, what if no one was allowed to fish a certain lake for 10 years. Like that California lake. 10 years of uninterrupted spawns and habitat. Oh my :DD
  13. I know a lot of new kayak anglers are considering this kayak. So here is my review for it.
  14. I have heard a lot of great things about the ride 115. Never paddled one, but I love the deck layout and stand-ability.
  15. SOTs are great for fishing due to the stability and standing capabilities. SINKs are good too, but I prefer SOTs. I use a 12' Ascend FS12T and love it. Definitely a solid started kayak for the money. Some guys like longer or short kayaks. It really comes down to what waters you'll be fishing. Shorter kayaks are better for moving waters because of maneuverability. Longer kayaks are better for lakes because of stability and dealing with wakes from boats. As for weight, it kind of depends on you entirely. If you have a truck or trailer it won't matter much. If you'll be hauling, loading and unloading it on top of a car like me, you'll want something you can manage alone. I rarely go fishing alone so I normally have help loading it. But I have had to do it on my own plenty of times. Listen to the guys on here. There are a lot for experienced kayak anglers on BR who know a lot more than I do. I have learned a lot from them. Here is my Ascend FS12T review if you're considering that kayak.
  16. I've been struggling a lot lately and saw the video BR has about detecting strikes. Glenn stated to use a Splitshot rig all day and it'll help you learn what they feel like. Not only am I doing this to learn, but I want a day of numbers. I've probably caught 10 bass all year...in Texas....I need help.... I also watched the BR video on the Splitshot rig. Just need some more info. My favorite lake is Lake Arlington in Fort Worth, TX which is a solid bass lake. I want to try this Splitshot rig this coming weekend. It has consistent hard bottom with islands and plenty of coves and pockets. The depths range from 30' to 2'. I will be fishing from a kayak so accessing the creeks is not a problem. Should I focus on the shallows all day like Glenn said, or should I go to the 10'-15' range of even deeper if I don't get any bites? Reason I ask is because this past Sunday I went and fished a T-rig craw ALL DAY with only 1 14" bass and a catfish. Any input would be appreciated, thanks guys!
  17. Chatterbait and Underspin for moving. 1/8oz Texas Rig creature bait for slow.
  18. Sell it and look for a good used fishing boat. If it has sentimental value then just look into keeping it as it. I wouldn't try to turn it into a fishing vessel.
  19. I will have to play around with that. Thanks!
  20. I messed around with it last night and was able to push the spout down on the surface and squeeze. It all spread out pretty nicely and had no air bubbles in it at all. Hopefully it works. If not, I have an entire tube! haha.
  21. The foam I was referencing to is just a piece with the shape of the TD cutout of it. Just to stabilize it and to hole the silicone in one area instead of spreading everywhere.
  22. I am doing a thru-hull mounted transducer for my kayak. I know it is best to use Marine Goop and a piece of foam with a cutout for the TD to mount it, but will silicone work as well for a temporary application? I know duct seal is also used with great success, but I have foam and silicone and would rather not have to go buy anything if I don't have to. Just to reiterate, I don't need the silicone to be a 100% permanent application, which is why I am wanting to know if silicone will work for now.
  23. I will be getting my Elite-4X up and running on my kayak this week and will be going to the lake Saturday to get it all tuned and set-up. What settings should I look at or know about?
  24. Thanks a lot for the advice man. I am excited to get this thing operational. Might even be able to run it this Sunday on my next bass trip. Now it's time to watch videos on how to set it up properly!!!
  25. Did you have any problems with air bubbles in yours when you did it?
