  1. Didn't even think about that. How long do you think would work for it?
  2. I would like to do that, but the kayak just broke my budget for a couple weeks haha. Have to wait to buy another Baitcaster, which I plan on running braid with.
  3. Makes sense. And I appreciate the feedback. I've never tried it so I figured that's what would happen. As for the drop shot, I have never fished it before so I will be hitting any fishy looking cover/structure I deem worthy.
  4. I am limited to 2 combos on my kayak for the time being. I have 1 spinning setup with 17# braid and a 20# FC leader for dropshoting and other finesse approaches. And a Baitcaster MH with 20# FC that I plan on using for Jigs, Spinnerbaits, and Cranks. My question is: Can I still tie on a frog or pop-r to my FC and use it if I suddenly find myself in a good spot for it? I know it will inhibit the action considering FC sinks, but how much, and is it even possible? I am simply trying to figure out if I should even bring my topwater arsenal or leave it at home to save weight and space.
  5. My time in the Army is done, and now it's time to drive home at midnight tonight! I'm excited, Fort Worth here I come!
  6. Myself and many friends in High School that worked at Academy. Make sure you express your interest and knowledge of Fishing so they might put you in that department. Trust me when I say you DO NOT want Team Sports, Apparel, or Footwear. They are very difficult to work in.
  7. I'm currently in the Army as a medic. But in about 3 weeks I will be working in the restaurant equiptment supply industry. It will be a big change of pace, but a welcomed one. I am looking forward to a regular 9-5 M-F job.
  8. I'm a medic at a health clinic on Fort Riley, KS. We have been seeing many poeple with the flu lately. This years Flu vaccine was only about 23% effective. The influenza virus mutated a little faster than the vaccine could be produced. Somehow I have been able to avoid it, hopefully it stays that way!!!
  9. I found this lovely little pond off of the beaten path in my town (the same pond I caught my 2 PBs at). It had a dirt road that lead to it and was only about 1oo yards from the main road behind some woods. No gate, No stay out signs or anything. I even saw tons of people running and walking their dogs and whatnot around it. So I started bank fishing it. One day another gentleman pulled up in his SUV with his 2 sons and asked how I was doing. I politely told him I had caught a few bass and let them go, just some dinks. I only catch and release. He asked if I had premission form the land owner, I said no, as I thought it was public due to its superb location and running/walking traffic it recieves. He gave me the guys work number and I called and asked permission. I also explained to him that I had been fishing it for about 3 months and released everything, He said YES! But 3 weeks later there was a gate up at the entrance
  10. I would eat a Pat's Rib-eye Medium from Saltgrass......yeeaaahhhhh
  11. Look into the theory of "Groupthink", no I didn't forget a space. It's pretty much when a group/person is scared to voice opinions, views, or ideas due to criticism from fellow employees or superiors. It is a toxic event and needs to be eliminated ASAP in order to ensure success of a company or business.
  12. Got the nickname Rhino by my platoon. And 68W is my Military Occupational Specialty (Job). The Army LOVES acronyms.
  13. Just wondering if there is something you ALWAYS bring, or something you do before a trip to help the bite.
  14. I went to a local pond that is very secluded and not very pressured last fall. It was raining, and I was considering packing up and closing shop. I decided to tough it out and throw a spinner bait around for a while just to see what happened. I did, and I caught two 5 lbs PBs within 5 minutes of each other on the same spinner bait in the same exact spot. I was literally freaking out. Immediately after releasing the 2nd fish I left, Thinking that the 3rd one might not exactly be the charm with the lightening picking up lol.
  15. Hey battle, where did you get that crate?
  16. Hold the fish out and say "RED ROBIN!" if the fish replies with a "Yuuuummmmmmm" then it's a male. If it rolls it's eyes it's a female.
  17. Don't have mine yet...Still have a few more weeks until I pick her up though! This topic is making it worse though...
  18. Kansas and Texas as of now. Maybe Florida one day
  19. And most of all, WELCOME ABOARD!
  20. Take time a read a lot of these topics. I found myself asking a lot of questions that have already been asked and answered in the past. The guys on here are full of wonderful advice. Also pay attention to WHERE you post a topic, I have had trouble with this, trying to work on it. Read the forums, watch the videos, and most importantly SLOW DOWN. Don't think about trying a thousand techniques before you even become good at one. Also, add BassResource on YouTube.
  21. Boat, no question about it. It offers the ability to load up and fish new waters anytime. The pond would get really old really fast.
  22. You and me both! This Kansas weather doesn't sit well with my Texan blood. I was pitching under our kitchen chairs the other day, when I hit a cross bar on one of them. Suddenly, my wife's head just poked around the wall and stared at me for about 3-4 seconds (felt more like an hour). So needless to say, I moved the chair and kept on pitchin!
  23. Makes sense. I didn't think of the photography aspect of it. Just the fish picture aspect!
  24. Then it seems like I am a few years behind you!
  25. Mine are similar. Focus on jig fishing, and buy my kayak! Hah
