  1. Senko and if that one doesn't work, a different color Senko.

Guns in general are all personal preference; whether is it which revolver or which semi-auto, and the age old revolver versus semi-auto discussion. You need to try the gun out and make sure you can hit the target with it. All the guns and ammo in the world are useless without any proficiency. I like revolvers and semi-autos and carry each just depends on my circumstances - mostly on my attire. Best advice I ever got regarding a carry piece is just shooting the hell out of it, and continued practice so your gun is a benefit not a detriment.

270 is good for black bear, wouldn't go after brown bear with it.
  4. Senko just plain produces Second would be a square bill crank
  5. Reel: Quantum Rods: Okuma Line: Limited experience, mostly use Berkley but will be trying some different stuff next season to broaden my horizons Plastic: Yamamoto for Worms, and SK for creature baits, grubs, etc. Hard Plastic: Storm and Strike King
  6. I buy with my brother, but mostly to split the costs of buying in bulk. We do share some tackle recommendations to though, especially what has worked in different places that may slip our minds.
  7. White swim jig, didn't catch **** on it. Tried all kinds of trailers and it just didn't seem to appeal to the fish up here. All the other colors I got killed it this year for swim jigs.
  8. I got my Nov/Dec issue the middle of last week as well. Flipped through it quick, seems that there were a couple of interesting articles that I will be hitting first.
  9. There are some options for doing this yourself, but it will by no means look brand new. The wrap idea may be a better solution if you are looking to have a "brand new" look to the boat.
  10. I am glad you are happy your wife likes fishing, and wants to get a boat (I would like my wife to be on board with this, but I will just end up buying it on my own). To be perfectly honest I don't want my wife to fish, it is my time away to do my own thing with my dad and brother.
  11. Brady's lost his share of superbowls too...
  12. My dad when I was a kid, but mostly my younger brother. He was really into it growing up and only now I have started to pick it up, I lean on him for a lot of advice and to bounce ideas off of.
  13. Currently only about $200, but I found some good deals. I am sure that number will grow as I get more into fishing and upgrade my arsenal.
  14. Obviously being on the water is the best practice, especially if you can concentrate on working with one bait to get comfortable with it. Going out in the yard and casting/flipping/pitching is the extent of my practice off the water. I just started fishing again after a near 20 year "break", so I suck at casting for the most part that's my focus right now. Trying to get better at targeted casting, and working on improving my accuracy when tossing worms and such in lilly pads and docks.
  15. I have the Pro Qualifier stuff and stay nice and dry no matter how hard it is raining.
  16. That's not bad at all, you should see my mom write in cursive, lefty, with a crooked finger (broke it and never set it properly). There are only 3 people in the world who can read her chicken scratch.
  17. Was throwing a Storm Arashi 5' this weekend and it was killing the spot we were fishing. It took a beating through because of the pickerel in the area but that is par for the course when going after LMB I guess.
  18. We have a Cabela's that will be opening up in my area next spring/summer so I will be checking them out, the closest one right now is in Maine (Bass Pro is less than an hour away with no tax). I have been to one of the Field and Stream stores in Erie, PA and thought it was impressive. They had a lot of stuff packed into the store; nice displays, helpful staff, good selections, and the prices seemed ok. I didn't get to shop around too much, but I did get a Abu Garcia rod on sale and a new tackle bag for a descent price.
  19. I suck at backing trailers up, mostly due to lack of practice. I will keep these tips in mind the next time I am at the ramp, can't get any worse.
  20. Had best day this past weekend, hoping that was just the start of success in the future.
  21. Probably the most common time to get a hit is the initial splash or the subsequent fall of the lure. Get a higher gear ration reel so you can throw more casts and catch the fish while they are biting!
  22. Certain things will be bought at BP or DSG. The rest is online, mostly at TW. Seibert is on the list though for jigs this winter when I can really review their website and put an order together.
