  1. The nice thing about fishing is that it can be as expensive as you want it to be. I like buying good quality gear and baits that will last, nothing worse than getting something and having to replace it after only a few times on the water. I would say that I am in the middle of the price range realm, no $500 reels or anything but I would not hesitate to spend $200 on a reel if I like the feel and features. I do the same with tools, electronics and vehicles.
  2. Another dog guy here; have a miniature schnauzer and a standard schnauzer.
  3. I have used the same username for every signal forum I belong too, makes it easy to remember. My initials and the last four digits of my parents old home phone number.

  5. You are a very patient man, I would have went back to the dock and told him to get off the boat or be removed forcefully (provided it was your boat).
  6. Sorry to hear about Spot, it's tough saying goodbye to a furry friend.
  7. Those dogs are built for the cold, and seem to excel the colder it gets. Meanwhile I am sitting there putting cloths on my dogs to keep them from turning into popsicles.
  8. As John G said a good holster will make a huge difference, but so will a good solid leather gun belt (or nylon if that is your thing). These belts are much thicker and generally a little wider than most you would buy in a store, they will keep the holster in place and prevent it from ripping the belt apart removing and putting the holster on. I like the Crossbreed Holsters, but there are a bunch of good holsters designs out there to choose from. Unfortunately you end up with a draw full of holsters because you normally cant try before you buy, but it is worth the investment if it puts the gun on your hip everyday.
  9. Glock 19 with TRL2 and spare magazines loaded with Critical Defense ammo, also have a back-up S&W 442 revolver loaded with hollow point 38 special and a full speed strip loader. I live in MA and have to have all guns locked up, can't just leave a shotty leaning next to the bed. So I got one of those quick open handgun safes in the top drawer of the nightstand.
  10. Lovin' the new reel just can't say the same for those corks you threw on it.
  11. The cords and timer are probably fine, just make sure you leave them in the house to dry out and you should be ok. The water was the bad player in this whole thing.
  12. I would think of the places that you fish and figure out if you have any HP restrictions because this will constrain your search. Next, I would figure out the length of boat that you are comfortable with and can easily tow, then think about what type of hull, and storage, etc. For that money you could buy an almost brand new Tracker aluminum boat, the 175 or 190 come to mind. The 175 would be a year or two old probably, where the 190 would probably be in the 5 years old or less range. If you wanted something fiberglass you are looking at something that will be a little older, which could bring some added maintenance costs in the not so distant future. Whatever you do before you hand over the cash see if you can get someone who knows boats and their mechanicals too look it over really well, don't want to end up paying for a huge anchor that sits in the yard or at a shop.
  13. I buy all different kinds of lures, as many others have said I am not brand loyal. I do have some favorites though; Strike King, Yamamoto, and Terminator probably round out my top 3.
  14. Epic fail on his part.
  15. Tough for the Steelers to do anything with the Ravens d-line all over Big Ben the entire game.
  16. Its a cop out for Saban though, his entire career and mantra is built on winning, he lived the second is the first loser mind set. Bottom line is that Alabama played like crap, on both sides of the ball and lost the game. They were not prepared for Ohio State and got beat.
  17. I used to have no issues with heights/climbing/etc., until I took a descent fall. Now my legs will tremble if I get into any type of scissor lift or anything like that, funny how something small changes your perspective. It doesn't stop me from getting in the lift or anything like that but my feet feel like they are in concrete boots when moving around.
  18. I am into reading too much, but I do travel a fair bit for work and tend to have some type of non-fiction book with me.

  20. He really was one of the good guys in the reporting world, never mind just sports world. Still laugh every time I hear the "colder than the other side of the pillow" line.
  21. I would like a nice big lot of secluded land, and a mid-range boat. I would be sick of fishing the same area all the time, takes the challenge out of it I think. The land would be a nice place to relax and enjoy the wilderness, and the boat would allow me fish a lot of different places.
  22. Be safe out there tonight, Happy New Years all!
  23. With the obvious fish more, catch bigger fish, and catching more fish aside. Really start to hone my skills with other presentations, only been fishing for about 6 months and have come a long way but there is a football field of improvement to be made. Really want to work more with jigs, creature baits t-rigged, and work on some smallie tubing in the NH lakes.
