  1. Well I guess I must've missed the day when a boot tail Swimbait such as these, were considered a "cold water" bait.
  2. Not liking it. Where's the rage tail? Looks like they used regular boot tail instead of more of an original rage tail style, like a cut r worms tail. That makes no sense to me. SK just spent several years killing the market with their rage tail plastics, but when it came time to make swimbait, it seems like they chose to abandon their own innovation and make a bait that's just like everyone else's.
  3. Well, I bought it because I've watched fish at my lake take down injured bait fish at the surface. Sooo...seemed like a good idea
  4. weightless Texas rigged 3" Senko.
  5. I started my kid off at 3yrs old too.
  6. As others have stated... # 1....FIRST and FOREMOST, go scout for a place with a lot of fishing action. A place that seems overpopulated with fish, such that the fish are striking at least every other cast. Why? because the same area that you fish may not be the ideal place to take the kids fishing. Kids have short attention spans, and may get bored easily. So how do we do this? Simple, take a pack of hot dogs, and go visit various lakes, ponds, etc. in your area. Toss bits of hot dog in the water, to see which waters hold the most ravenous fish. Then return to the place you have chosen, and use your kid's gear (rod, reel, lures) to fish the area, to familiarize yourself with those waters, and figure out what set up catches fish the best. Then, on another visit, you bring the kids, and have them fish those waters exactly the same way you previously did, with the same setup that you established...and everybody will enjoy themselves. Once you've accomplished #1....everything else will fall into place.
  7. Nice, and how many fish have you caught with it so far?
  8. What was it about these that made you so "extremely excited" about them?
  9. Heres my thoughts on essentials for beginners... > Jig & Craw trailer > Worms: Straight tail worm, ribbon worm, stick worm, Cut R Worm > Spinnerbait or Chatterbait & trailer > Soft Jerkbait > Buzzbait > Frog
  10. I am not that guy. Never have been that guy. Never will be that guy. Ive been fishing now for a few years, and from day one, my fishing was only meant to be a recreation, not an obsession. Though I enjoy Bass fishing, I find the Bass as a species in general, to be highly overrated. So Ive kept the amount of gear that I use for it, down to a reasonable yet respectful level. Ive since figured out what I need and what I don't need, and have no further need to spend anymore money on it, except for replacements(and even that is debatable). But that's just me.
  11. Tossed my Live Target Sunfish into the test pond today. Wanted to give it a thorough look over. The bad....Not really all that bad but I find the overall look of the bait as it sits in the water, to actually be kind of underwhelming. When it sits in the water it almost looks even less like a fish. I don't see this bait catching fish any better or less, than your favorite frog baits. But that's just my subjective perceptions. The Good...This is THE easiest bait to walk the dog with, and one of the easiest baits to impart any kind of action onto, in any way. Which seems obvious, with its body shape, and lack of skirt legs. And, it seems to be weighted perfectly to keep it in the water, and not skimming the surface. But seriously, you barely need any kind of rod twitch to make this thing dance. Also, it casts good, and always landed upright.
  12. Wow, Im loving this thing. I haven't tried to catch fish with it yet, but man, I tossed it in a pond today just to give it a look, and yeah its looking really great on a shaky head, and even moreso on a jig. The presentaton of this thing is definitely way better than comparable baits like the Magnum Finesse worm. Really looking forward to working with it this year.
  13. This looks like a great lizard, and has a unique fat-belly body design. But Im looking at this thing now and Im thinking....you know, that belly ought to allow it be retrieved as a topwater lizard, pretty nicely. Hmmm
  14. I use a 1/0 or 3/0 straight-shank offset hook. Never had a problem.
  15. Even though these about the same overall length as other crass, they have a much larger profile with larger appendages
  16. Honestly, for the largest amount of flapping action, is the Culprit Creature Craw. Hands down. Seriously this thing is ridiculous. Second, I would say Rage Lobster
  17. I side with this perspective. Wouldn't surprise me at all if most price increases have more to do with how much money other anglers are willing to pay for tackle

  20. Or you can look into different shaped jig heads. I switched from football jigs to structure jigs by SK & Omega. This improved my jig hangups to at least, a satisfactory level.
  21. The way I see it, if snagging becomes too excessive, then its time to switch to a different presentation, or a different location. I don't buy into this jibber-jabber about "If your getting snagged, your in the right spot." No thanks. Here are some things you could try.... - Texas rig with skirt, as mentioned above. - The Lead-butt Paca Craw - Since the Paca craw is hollow, insert one of those lead weights with the rubber twisty things on either end, inside the body of the craw. Thread a skirt onto your line (without a hub), and thread your hook through the concealed rubber thingy, T-rig it, and peg the skirt. (This also works with a Yum craw bug). - The Crawl Jig - Thread a skirt onto the screw lock of a weighted swimbait hook. Then screw on your preferred jig trailer. Retrieve it by slowly crawling it on the bottom, allowing the bait to ride that hook like a sled, while the hook weight creates noise by scraping and scratching along the rocks. Not sure if your rocks are ideal for this or not. - The Line-through Craw Bug - Insert a....well....just send me an IM if you want, and I'll show you a picture. Now none of these are really optimal substitutes for jigs, but if your snagging has got you pulling your hair out, its always good to have some creative alternatives.
