I am not so nice when other boats pull right up next to me. I prefer a couple well placed casts within a foot or so of their boat. If that doesnt work well than a nice little wack of the spinnerbait usually works.

Anyone have any opinions of Fisher brand bass boats? Thanks

I worked for them while going to college. It wasnt too bad then. After I quit there they became a publicaly traded company and have been sliding down hill fast. Prices continue to be significantly higher then any other place I purchase things; selection continues to dwindle and there is never anyone around to help you. The one closest to me continues to pack in more and more stuff and stack it higher and higher. If I ask them to order me something that they dont have you would think I asked them to move a mountain.

I only own Quantum reels. I wont fish with anything else.

I would like to pick up a slow 5:1 baitcasting reel dedicated for crankbaits. Does anyone have a favorite one? I am partial to Quantum reels. Thanks in advance.

I sometimes drag a grub on a light jig head behind the boat when drifting downstream. If there is too many snags then I'll switch to a extremely shallow diving crankbait that wobbles well at low speeds.

I have been using them exclusivley since 2000. I have about a dozen or so of them. I have had no trouble what so ever.

Thanks for the comments. I cant wait for it to warm up a bit. I'll do some scouting before bass season opens to see what kind of trees have fallen and created new fishing spots.

I won a canoe last weekend. It is an Old Town Predator. http://www.oldtowncanoe.com/canoes/huntingFishing/predator_c133.html I am going to use it for my new small river fishing/touring rig. I have never had a canoe before. I have life jackets, rod holders, and an anchor. I know that I need to get paddles. So what I am asking is what kind of paddles are good for a beginner who will be paddling solo for the most part? Also is there anything else that I should pick up? And any other useful information? Thanks Clarifacation: First of all I want a new to me, not a brand new boat. I want to purchase a bass style boat in the 18-19 foot range. With a mid range motor. I fish manly small to medium sized lakes, but I fish some pretty big lakes too (for you michigan guys: Charlovioix, Lelanau, Burt, Mullet, St. Clair, Torch). I will hopefully be re-entering the tourney seen in the spring also on a very limited scale (6-8 tourneys). Thanks again

The economy in michigan is going down the tubes. People are leaving the state fast. Houses are for sale everywhere. I would say that has a big effect on our fishing population. We are a major automobile state and with the big 3 downsizing there are less and less jobs.
