  1. ^^^ This, and you'll save good money in the long run. Also, the plethora of colors is awesome
  2. I like the Berkley stuff, Gulp, Powerbait are really good stuff.. But can get expensive. I've really come to like Big Bite Baits. Good scent, soft, supple plastic, and great price point. Try their soft jerkbait and buy it in the Pro Pack size for extra savings.
  3. I'm thinking about taking her out some time. We are also looking at a Mini Ossie puppy, which would be just the right size on a yak, but probably little too playful. Worth a shot though... I'll probably take her camping with us on the Bro Only Camping trip.
  4. Ned rig is a hot topic on here lately. Also some good stuff about it on In Fisherman's website. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/154445-ned-rig/ http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/156424-ned-rig-imitator/
  5. Same here... Gotta pay for the car and fishing gear, among other things
  6. New question.... Sorry for all of these! But anyways, would you fish NanoFil without a leader, or with one?
  7. Really just me wondering if one would be better than the other. Other than the need to tie leaders, which I still need practice with, and the need to purchase a quality pair of scissors, there haven't been any real problems.
  8. I do have a question. I'm fishing big 10 in worms on 50# braid w/14# fluoro leader on a Lightning Rod Shock (7' MH). I'm thinking about straight fluoro, but I worried it will be expensive, unmanageable, and that the Shock's soft tip would not be sensitive enough with fluoro.. Thoughts?
  9. Honestly teaching others is one of the best parts of this sport. But that is an interesting anecdote about McClellan. I'm not the best swimmer, but I really love it as well. It would be different if I had a boat and was fishing tournaments seriously, but I don't. My mom doesn't seem to care for my obsessions with fishing or swimming lol
  10. Get the Lew's BB1 on sale at TW
  11. True.. My biggest problem is work and swimming. If I didn't have to pay for car insurance... Ahhh
  12. Haha, I can not find a link unfortunately!
  13. After reading Bill Heavey's ending note "Do More With Less" in Field and Stream I'm intrigued with the idea of only giving 85% effort at work, lol. I could also use a buddy with a boat haha. But in all seriousness, those who read it, what are your thoughts? And for everyone, what are your tips for getting more time hunting or on the water, or maximizing the time you do have?
  14. Right now I'm using 50# braid for my big worm setup. I've got it on a 7' Lightning Rod Shock. I given thought to switching to straight 14# Fluoro and am kinda thinking it might be unmanageable and that the Shock's soft tip would not be sensitive enough... Thoughts?
  15. Ok, thanks. I'll have to sit down and mess with it tommorow evening.
  16. I had the same thing the other day. The hooks are just so damned hard to pry out when they are so deep in the fish's mouth. That's why I always carry a pair of needle nose, but sometimes I need a buddy to hold the fish for me.
  17. If I'm going to try to get a limit quickly, I would be going out and fishing smaller stuff. Finesse plastics like Stick Baits, Ned Rigs, Mojo Rig, or Split Shot Rigs. I would also want to cover water quickly, while still fishing small, so I would probably fish a smaller size Silent Running Squarebill. These are all good baits to catch a quick limit. Covering water to find active fish is key, then slow down from their. The second key is to fish small... Get bites, then once you get a limit start to target bigger fish and cull.
  18. My spinning setup is a Quantum Performance Tuned Spinning Reel and a Berkley Amp 6' Medium. It's a great setup. At times I'd like to a have a 6'6" rod, but with all of the wading and hiking through woods I do with it the 6' is perfect. Nice and sensitive, and light. Great setup for not a lot of bucks. I would also recommend the Lew's Spinning reels, they seem good for the price.
  19. I always use a 6'6" rod when walking the bank. For my Crankbait casting setup I use a 6'6" Medium Berkley Lightning Rod Custom I got for $15 at a garage sale. I don't have all the money in the world, all of my rods these days are Berkley. It works like a charm though, nice soft tip, and it throws Crankbaits, even lighter ones, a country mile. I also haven't had a problem with ripping hooks out. My other rods are a 6'6" Medium Heavy Berkley Lightning Rod for Spinnerbaits, a 6'6" Medium Berkley Amp Spinning for Small Cranks, Jerkbaits or any Weightless or Light Weight Plastics, a 7' Medium Heavy Berkley Lightning Rod Shock for Plastics, Jigs, and Frogs and I'm planning on buying either a Cherrywood or Lightning Rod 6'6" Medium for Jerkbaits, Lipless Cranks, and Topwaters.
  20. How do you get in and change the centrifugal brakes on this? I haven't messed with them...
  21. I picked up a 7.5 and it fishes frogs and jigs with braid like a charm. I also am not the biggest fan of the gloss. But, I really like all the other features.
  22. Never used one but for $50 I'd say its a pretty good pickup. Where is this at? You may be able to get the seller to go a little lower if he is a local guy.
  23. Just curious, what rods where on the rack?
  24. I also get skunked on bluebird sky days. It usually helps if there's a little wind. Then I usually can catch pretty good fish on a spinner bait. If it's completely clear outside I'll usually fish a silent running square bill, and a stick bait either weightless Texas rig, a nail weight Texas rig, or a weightless wacky rig.
