  1. Line cap and Power. If you don't mind the extra weight, they can be good for Swimbaits, Large Crankbaits, Slow Rolling Spinnerbaits, and much more.
  2. I use a 6 rod system. 6'6"-6'9" Medium Baitcast W/6.X:1 Reel: Jerkbaits/Topwater 6'6"-7' Medium Baitcast w/5.X:1 Reel: Crankbaits 6'6"-7' Medium Heavy Baitcast w/6.X:1 Reel: Spinnerbaits/Swim Jigs 7' Medium Heavy Baitcast w/7.X:1 Reel: Casting Jigs/Plastics 7'6"-7'11" Heavy Casting w/7.X:1 Reel: Flipping, Frogs, Bladed Jigs 6'6" Medium Spinning w/5.X:1 Reel: Light Line applications
  3. X2. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I have stuff I like, so I use it. I really like an old ProCaster... I still use it. I'll probably upgrade it soon, but I just like it.
  4. If the bottom is hard, I would use a walker and a crankbait to search for fish, then a jig to dissect the area.. If it is soft, I would go with a spinnerbait for searching, and a ribbon tail worm for dissectingm
  5. Body style is similar....http://m.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-XPS-Professional-Series-Hardbaits-Deep-Diving-Minnows/product/11083005011530/
  6. I like the Hart Tackle Justice jigs. They are good for the price.
  7. I don't think you need to spend lots if money to get a quality jerkbait. If you want something with the MegaBass style, try the BPS jerkbait for 6.99. You may need to replace the stock hook, but you are still not in for $25. Another good option if the forage size is very small is a YoZuri Pin's Minnow. Lastly, the XCalibur Edwin Evers 'EEratic Shad' has a good action, quality finish, and quality trebles, and usually retails for about $9. The XRap is a good bait for bass, and many people excel at catching smallmouth with them. I believe they are a better bait in slightly warmer water, because they have a lot of action and are good when fish are slightly more active. For colors I mostly use shad colors... I also bought a clown color a few days ago. I will let you know my experience w/it.
  8. Eagle Claw is generally trying to be low cost, and this result in low quality. The Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp series and the Eagle Claw Lazer TroKar series are great hooks in comparison... And definitely can compete w/other hooks.
  9. Cool, thanks! They do lol like great reels at the $ point
  10. I feel like if laid a pond like I'm thinking about doing if I can get some good land w/hunting to put it on.. I'd be that guy. I'd only want myself and close friends to enjoy such an investment. Especially with lawsuits to landowners, and trespassers ruining private ponds w/litter and introducing bad fish to a pond by dumping on left over minnows.
  11. Could you post a 100% un biased review after extensive use. I'd really like to hear your thoughts..
  12. EVA is OK.. But PVC knobs on the Gen 1s and Low end Abu's are god awful! This is my opinion, and you have yours, but I can't say I like PVC whatsoever...
  13. Ditto. They have St Croixs at the $100 price point that are better than the Abu's IMO. I came into a free Veritas and didn't like it so I sold it for $50.. Im sure whoever got it enjoyed the deal.. Whatever, $50 in my pocket.
  14. True. If you are tall, it is a good idea to find a kayak that fits you comfortably. Spend some time w/a local dealer or friends and find out what you like. Make a list of your wants/needs, and see what a dealer has that matches them. If they don't fit your exact needs, you can add stuff as you go for very little extra expense.

  16. If the bass are keying on shad, they will eat an umbrella rig. Just tune your presentation to what the fish tell you, just like anything else.
  17. Those are some fightin words around here brother!
  18. Dad's Bantum Magnumlite has been in the family 30+ years. His first, and later passed down to me.
  19. X2.. Palomar has a reputation for being weak w/fluorocarbon.
  20. Xcalibur and BBB are my personal favorites. They are both worth a try.
  21. X3. Plenty of guys will have small storefronts just w/shrimp or mjllet. If you can find live, get it... But if nobody has anything live, frozen will do.
  22. This is very true. I wouldn't lump Korea, China, and Japan in one group. Japan=Innovation... They make good stuff Korea=Quality build for the price China=Cheaper quality.. More features..
  23. Situational really. If you are fishing in gin clear water w/spooky fish I think that rattles are overkill. It also actually effects the way your bait moves... Crankbaits w/rattles have a different wobble than silent models.
