  1. I've had my water temperature start reading -- on my HDS7 on occasion. I found the fix is to remove it from the overlay, then re-add it. Then the temp starts working again. One of the little quirks.
  2. So what's groundbreaking, revolutionary, and legendary?
  3. I bet the price will be revolutionary! LEGENDARY EVEN.
  4. I'd guess that means hummingbird & garmin will be copying them soon.
  5. The vexus marketing campaign is so ridiculous. Their videos/promo materials have about 1400 adjectives about quality/performance/engineering/craftsmenship/experience and everything is LEGENDARY. All while not providing any useful information. Just a constant string of word soup. I really want to slap their marketing people and tell them to knock it off with the superlative's when you haven't sold a single boat yet. Sorry, just wanted to rant.
  6. https://www.lowrance.com/help-and-support/software-upgrade-nos59/ This is actually a pretty cool idea. I didn't even know they were cooking this up BUT apparently there's several videos on youtube showing it off. I'm definitely going to be using this this summer on my HDS7. Are there any other finders that have this on their downscan? I can't think of any.
  7. Wow, I never would have thought to use powerworms as ned baits. Mind blown.

I've been using the x-rap prop bait for many years.. it's a very good "big bite" topwater bait that I've had very good luck with on hot sunny days. Bigger fish seem to be attracted to it. Prop bait topwaters SEEM to be a little more effective for me in a little bit of wind. It can be a decent shallow water 'search bait' when there's a little breeze.
  9. Good call, we could hit a taproom or something? Is anyone going to the Sportsmens show next weekend? I'll be there. Either Friday evening or Saturday. Haven't decided yet. Great show to oogle all the new rods/reels/electronics and get a buncha gear at 20% off.
  10. Welcome! Nice to see some lurkers come and post. What kind of kayak are you looking at? We really should do a Bass Resource MN meetup at a lake one of these days. I'd be happy to organize it. Maybe some of the guys without a boat could pair up with some of us who have boats. Could even do a little tournament or something for fun.
  11. St Croix actually has a legend glass 7' moderate spinning rod coming out this spring. I think their stuff is meant for tossing Rapala shad raps, or any other similar lightweight balsa crankbaits. I think the term being used is "finesse cranking". Really, St Croix knows there's a market in the walleye angler world for guys who don't use baitcasters but want to cast crankbaits. The shad rap is a walleye fishing staple and is difficult to cast. I think a standard fast medium or medium light would be perfectly fine for throwing light balsa cranks, BUT these rod companies need to expand their lines and get anglers to buy more stuff.. so having a moderate/glass application for this MUST be better, right?
  12. Dangit.. the eBay monkey got me. $52 shipped for a 600 yard spool of FC sniper 16lb? Oh Kay.
  13. @misho187 What tournaments do you fish? I'm sorta the opposite.. I mostly fun fish and travel around the state with our RV & the boat. I'm just recently dipping my toe into club tournaments. I'm all in on Boss skirts & Boss Swim Jig heads. Only ones i'm using anymore.
  14. Welcome! What are theory crafted lures? Just curious. I'm most excited for traveling to some new bodies of water like the whitefish chain and vermillion. I really want to get up to Rainy this year too.
  15. Wow so you're fishing BOTH the Wednesday series? Wow that's a lot of tournaments haha. I gotta get your number man, if you ever go fun fish Big Marine i'd love to tag along. I've only been on it twice and was a little perplexed both times. I'm usually pretty comfortable fishing clear water lakes but BM kicked my butt.
  16. Got a equipment question for you guys.. what are your summer milfoil flipping setups? Rods/reels/line? Just curious.
  17. hah, whoops.. i hate when ancient threads get bumped
  18. Where are they on close out?!
  19. They look nice.. but what's the advantage over a DT4 or 6??
  20. @rascalP are you guys signed up for the Greenhorn Wednesday night league? We're locked and loaded. Anyone else on here fishing GH?? I'm excited for all the lakes on the schedule EXCEPT Big Marine. I've fished BM a few times and had bad days. Gin clear lake, very big.. couldn't find any bass.
  21. I have some avid x's and some LTB's and the only thing I don't like is how much more tip heavy the LTB's are. The Avid's feel way more balanced. The LTB's blanks are VERY top heavy. It's kinda weird when you hold LTB's with other high end/mid range rods. I don't get why they are so tip heavy.
  22. We're now officially into panfish season. Boo. Minnesota needs to get wise like Michigan and open bass year round to catch & release. I do like catching me some crappies though.
  23. Anyone planning trips to new water this year? Last year I was able to check Kabetogama off my bucket list, this year we're going to Vermilion. They opened a new state park campground on Vermillion and I'm going to take the family/RV/boat for a long weekend. Northern Minnesota has so many amazing places. I'm trying to expand my horizons and get out of the metro.
  24. I think because its a pain in the ass to take down/setup your shack AND people want to hang out and drink... catching fish is kinda a bonus.
  25. I'd argue there's more legit than fake on eBay.
