  1. How do you like the Carolina keeper? I moved mine once and it “burned “ the line. Never used them again. The line was dry but I figured if I got hung there was a possibility of damage so I didn’t trust them.
  2. I use falcon almost exclusively and feel comfortable buying online. their ratings are way different from other brands so if you’re not a regular falcon user I absolutely recommend trying it out first.
  3. Mine is labeled buzzbait on the blank and it is definitely more moderate than the lizard dragger 1 in the Cara line. I have used it for 3/8-1/2oz t rig and jigs. It worked good and is very sensitive it if you actually want a fast taper it is not the rod you want. I am currently using it for buzzbait, spinnerbaits and vibrating jigs. Would be good for heavy topwater and large squarebills too. i really like the rod but even with Falcons action ratings it is on the moderate side of mod fast at best.
  4. I get ragged extremely bad from my fly fishing friend. He literally harasses me for using 15-20 lb test. Says he can land 20+ lb fish on 4lb flouro.
  5. I’m bubba 99% of the time but there’s that 1% when I really need to hook up that I’ll go sissy. As soon as I get my Fix I feel really awkward and go back to bubba. in all seriousness, is this something that really bothers people? Lighten up and fish with whatever tickles your fancy.
  6. Baitcasters offer modern technology in the braking systems. Otherwise they are probably old technology as well. sorry to offend users of sissy stick or fairy wand reels. Lol.
  7. In my mind yes. The bail is opened and closed by hand. It spins around and round. Goes in and out twisting your line the whole time. Yep same old outdated technology.
  8. I would say the same for spinning reels but many people use both so to each his own.
  9. I only have one expert vs ......too many to count caras and I swear the expert is just as good if not better. Either way I’m looking forward to see what they bring to the table.
  10. Are graphite reels really bad? YES
  11. I’m with the op on clean hands. By the look of some of the cork on other people’s rods I bet they were blown away with the cdc recommend hand washing advice.
  12. I would only buy aluminum frame Lew’s reels.
  13. My wedge is what came with my boat. Simple ,easy and appears to do its job. It was recommended by the boat manufacturer.
  14. Training you wrist is equally important as your thumb. Arm action or even lack of is very important in preventing backlash.
  15. I don’t have any suggestions for a backpack but by all means keep any legal fish if you plan to eat them. If you catch a trophy size bass consider putting it back but that’s up to you. Enjoy your catch!
  16. I’ve had good results removing Lew’s ar bearings by pressing them back in with my thumb and then they will fall right back out. For some reason they back out just a tiny bit during normal use and get stuck in the frame. This method has always worked great and I never needed to tap them with a hammer or anything.
  17. Use it for another technique that is suitable for larger dia line or cut your losses and move on. Edit I just read the original post again. I’d cut my losses.
  18. Marine stabil goes in every can of gas I buy for small engines. The boat gets ethanol free and treatment every fill up. I worked at a small engine shop back when all gas was ethanol free. Fuel treatment is definitely needed for winter or extended storage.
  19. To my knowledge I’ve never thrown a Ned Rig. The closest I come is a beetle spin or ball head jig with a curly tail grub. Hell from what I read many people fish the Ned like a shaky head which means they aren’t even fishing a Ned rig. Smh
  20. This works really well for me too.
  21. I’d take the original tournament pro over any newer Lew’s reel. They are much better quality and fit my hand better.
  22. I’ve heard tongue hooked fish taste really good with cornbread.
  23. What? Big game can cure cancer.........surely there can’t be any issues with the line. Must be operator error.
  24. Carolina Rig. I think the gliding and darting action of a fluke works great for this.
