  1. the problem with that is you would go broke very soon. todays shoppers like to demo them then go home and order from the cheapest online supplier. i see people on this forum admit to it and recommend that others do the same.
  2. a guy in the local tackle shop told me some new reels were coming out soon that dont have bearings. said they "ride on magnets". same thing?or some junky reel?
  3. arkie would be good
  4. i am too. but i have learned from my previous mistake and have been quite happy since then. it was very embarrassing that i had a problem with it as i am a mechanic by trade and am used to working with tools.
  5. how does this jig differ from your current arky style head jig?
  6. i bent the pin on hedge hog toolbut i was pushing the spool pin the wrong direction. poor lighting ,40 something eyes and my ingnorance caused that mistake. i was able to straighten the pin and its worked great since .
  7. tw told me they were discontinued only to have the new ones back in stock less than two weeks later. the new ones have the speed dial thing but still use the same model numbers. guess they were confused or mistaken.
  8. senkos do seem to catch a few more fish but i usually buy dingers for price and durability. if the money is on the line I'll take senkos every time. they just seem to shimmy better than the rest!
  9. i'd say a 7' mh falcon bucoo trap caster . it has a softer tip good for cranking yet enough backbone for a decent texas rig worm rod. should be ok for up to 3/8oz jigs. may not be perfect but its pretty versatile.
  10. ive heard of guys using wd40 for scent. you should be fine
  11. not to hijack but, whats the point of the bearing in the side plate ? my lews reels have them but they dont actually fit the spool shaft in the area that they fit.
  12. as some of the others have mentioned, topwater can be pretty versatile as well as jigs. just add a few different lures and techniques slowly and you will figure it out as you go.
  13. dont be sorry, some people cant help it.
  14. like floro is my opinion. a quick, dirty, dry clinch knot will burn the line. san diego jam or palomar seems to work better for me.
  15. nice job. they look great!
  16. i have emailed him before with some questions about his jigs with no reply from him. he is running a business, i would not expect to have to p.m. someone for business related communication.
  17. thanks i'll stay away from these
  18. ******* so what kind of frog are we talking about?
  19. jbrew73 replied to Cootz's topic in Fishing Tackle
hopefully this isn't too off topic or hijacking but, how do you guys set your reel up for skipping?
  20. i have speed spool lfs, tournament and tournament pro's. they are all nice and adequate for the task at hand. lfs vs tournament.....basically mag brakes vs dual brakes. lfs vs tournament pro.....tournament pro is in another league as far as smoothness and adjustability . I've owned a few cheap reels and some nicer quantum reels. i think any lews reel is a better bang for you buck and each step up in the lews line is worth the money.
  21. can you not grease the drag on a lews?
  22. i narrowed it down to the ignition module. i sent it off for testing and rebuild.
