  1. I am looking to get an original generation Veritas or Verdict for the cheap. But the problem with these rods, is that on Abu Garcia's own review site, nearly half of the reviews said that the rods broke extremely easily. Has anybody else had Abu Garcia V-series rods breaking?
  2. 7'0 medium heavy fast action Okuma c3-40x Spinning rod
  3. Absolutely Crazy!!!
  4. Technically, I spend 0$ a year just cuz my parents for it. But in reality, I probably spend around 100$ a year. Most of that goes to rock bottom deals on rods and reels. I managed to get a Okuma C3-40X rod for 30$ off of amazon, when it retails for 160$ on TW. Also, RoadWarrior and Bruce424 sent me huge boxes of free baits and lures. Next year, I probably will aim for under 100$. Most of the gear I fish with is either discontinued or on clearance (Pluefger Supreme for 50$ and Okuma C3-40X for 30$).
  5. LMAO !! Are you joking or being legit?
  6. Congrats Andy!! Good luck with that rod!!
  7. I have the Okuma c3-40x. Its a step above the citrix, but it is a exceptional rod. You can find it for a 100$ on amazon, and it is exceptionally sensitive, as it is made out of 40 ton graphite. I would go for the c3-40x rather than the Citrix, considering that it is better and also can be found at a cheaper price.
  8. I was looking at that rod to. Over the summer though, it probably will discount to 29.99. Keep in mind that it is all glass, so sensitivity won't be good and the rod will prob. be heavy. But the guides are really good...... Another member on this forum steered me towards the H20 Express Ethos Composite Rods. They look really nice for 59.99$ as they have Alconites and are a composite of graphite and glass and also has a Fuji ACS reel seat. Here's a link http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/h20-xpress-ethos-7-m-freshwater-composite-crankbait-casting-rod/pid-148117?color=Blue&N=101118587
  9. They look like the Livetarget Baitball at a significantly lower price; the LiveTarget one retails for 15$.
  10. Okay thanks for the replies. I will probably just use a twistlock hook
  11. A weighted twistlock? Or a regular unweighted twistlock hook?
  12. I have had no experience in fishing swimbaits, and want to get started. What is the best way to rig a Zoom Salty Fluke? I fish mostly weedy northern ponds, and need the fluke to be relatively weedless.
  13. I have heard of braid damaging Chrome guides (Duckett Ghost). And Stainless Steel is WAY below Chrome on the Vicker's Hardness scale. VICKER'S HARDNESS SCALE Values for Line Guide Ring Materials 2005 Stainless Steel (SS): 400 [b.E.] Chrome: 800-1000 [C.M.] Carbaloy: 1000 [b.E.] Aluminum Oxide: 1200-1400 [b.E., C.M.] Alconite (Fuji): 1300-1500 [Fuji] NanoLite (Titan): 1800 [J.M.] Zirconia: 1000-1400 [M.G.] Zirconia PVD: 1600 [b.E.] SiC: 2200-2400 [b.E., C.M.] From what I have heard from most major line and rod companies, is that for braid, you shouldn't go below Aluminum Oxide. For the rod your talking about, I would advise going with some Fluorocarbon. FYI: I just found the Vickers Hardness Scale online from another topic.
  14. For the Ghost rod, I would advise against using braid. The guides are CHROME which get grooved very easily. I would just go with some straight Seagaur Fluorocarbon.
  15. Mono backing. It helps save you braid.
  16. My personal advice to you is not to buy siege. Go with elite unless you are fishing heavy cover. Siege has insane amounts of memory.
  17. Are you sure it is easier to get through cover than braid? From what I know, Braid cuts right through moderate cover. Also, what type of Fluoro were you using?
  18. I agree. The Arachnid looks like a Tatula on Steroids. It has more bearings (and better bearings), and a ZAION drag star. The ZAION drag star really sticks out to me at this price point.
  19. As long as it has treble hooks, you can essentially use any lure(excluding soft swimbaits) with a crankbait rod.
  20. For Flipping and fishing heavy cover, a 7'6 Heavy Rod is perfect. But for fishing worms, it is a little overkill. For worms, I'd just go with a 7' MH Veritas. You will find that it is much more versatile than a heavy rod and will also be able to flip.
  21. If you are fishing worms and Jigs, Go with a 7'mh rod fast action. For fishing cover, you need a stout rod and from I have heard, VERITAS's are like broomsticks.
  22. Lol... I just started a topic in the Rod, Reels, Lines, and Knots forum about a crankbait rod under 50$.
  23. What size is the Revo S? What are planning to fish for with the Veritas ( Crankbaits, Flipping, Pitching, Fineese etc.)?
  24. 90% of the time I usually eat crappie and bluegill. But I have a bunch of local ponds that are overfilled with 1lb bass. I'm guessing I should cull some of the bass, and I don't want to waste any of the meat. Has anybody ever eaten Largemouth bass before and how does it taste?
