  1. IMO their tackle is pretty good factoring in the < $, they're mostly good to go in my experience.
  2. All signed up, just waiting for my package
  3. Trust me when I say, 2 ' in this or any boat makes a huge difference. When considering the limited space it already has, the extra 2 feet is even more valuable!! Always buy the biggest boat you can afford...
  4. One quick solution is to keep a bungee cord handy to hold down the rods if you rest them on the sides. Hook one side under the rub rail and the other side to your seat support.
  5. Never been in the sales business but if I were buying a boat (fishing) I would be looking for accessories that would be a necessity rather than baits and tackle. I'd stick to the higher end stuff like shallow water anchors, raingear, fishfinders and graphs, trolling motors, etc. Just my .02 but if I were buying...I'd be looking for that type of stuff first...not baits and terminal tackle.
  6. Transom mount and bow mount are two types of mounting systems for TMs, not positions on the boat. I have both MK in the back (transom mount) and a MG Bulldog in the front (transom mount) of my Pelican 10e. I can also position the MK on the front end (bow) using the transom mount by unbolting the control head and rotating it 180 thus allowing the tiller control to face aft instead of fwd like it would when mounted in the rear (stern). I'm pretty sure your Sun Dolphin has both fore and aft transom mount areas allowing the TM to be secured to the boat in either position.
  7. Doubt you can get a more stable small watercraft, perhaps, but I'm not aware of one. Distribute the weight appropriately and there is no need for a rudder. A carpeted floor is a nice addition, plus some paddle clips for the paddle/lure retriever/push pole etc. Oh, and you may want to upgrade those seats, at least for dear old Dad, his butt will thank you
  8. Zoom Shakey Head Worm 5" cuz it works - WELL!
  9. You can mount a tiller controlled TM with a transom mount up front, no problem. You just have to unbolt the control unit and reposition it 180 from where it was before (assuming that your TM is designed to mount with tiller facing fwd).
  10. What do mean by "normal" TM? Is a normal TM tiller controlled, or foot controlled, and is it a bow mount or transom mount? I have both foot and tiller controlled but both are transom mount. BTW - Both work beautifully but the foot control is up front and the tiller is in the back. Do not always mount both depending on planned trip
  11. I was basing my retail price off of Academy 580g Zane for $189. $239 is from Costa website, and if anyone buys direct from Costa, they have more money than sense btw - green mirror
  12. Hmm, $100 off of a $189 retail price, point me to where I buy pls
  13. What specifically don't you like about the Gliss line? Just wondering because I recently bought a spool of it (hi-vis green) and am fence sitting on which rig I want to put it on, finesse (spinning) or jig (casting). Leaning towards the finesse...
  14. A Bass Raider's CG is relatively centered (empty) so with you and the trolling motor up front it's difficult to imagine a battery that weighs enough to compensate. If you believe you need a rudder, chances are it's probably not that balanced as the sponsons (8 or 10') provide more than enough rudder effect when the boat is properly balanced. Try getting an extension for your TM that allows you to control it when sitting more aft. You may find that a rudder is not required.
  15. Wind was howlin so limited my fishing spots severely. Being in a Pelican 10e, stayed inside the no wake area at the main launch, water surface temp is at 41, lake is full, fish were not where I was.
  16. Going to hit Lawtonka this morning. Will give report later.
  17. I subscribed last Jan. Sub is up now and I won't be renewing, a ton of info but did not help me IMO. Most videos are short, like 2 or 3 minutes short
  18. Z-Man bladed jig (aka Chatterbait). Scale was in the truck so I can't really call it a PB, plus she was a little skinny. I'd guesstimate in the upper 5's though. See profile pic, Cross Lake, LA.
  19. Can't complain about '15, could have been better but then that's always a constant when I reflect on the year. Did not catch a new PB but caught plenty within a pound of it. Don't really keep accurate numbers but if I had to guess, it would be 15 or so over the 5 lb mark, same with 4 lb, a few 3's and a boat load of 2's and dinks. My goal was to learn how to drop shot, I fished that technique nearly every time out, caught 90% of my fish that way. Very effective IMO, 2016 I'm going to concentrate on the JIG!! Happy New Year
  20. I purchased a Lowrance Elite 4 HDI last year and was happy with it until I realized that the shallow water images I was looking at very distorted and full of clutter. Yes, I had the unit set to shallow water mode. My son had bought the same unit and he had the same problem. After hours of research, I decided to go with a Raymarine Dragonfly unit. At only $169, I've learned to temper my expectations but it's only a downscan unit and have seen it perform it shallow water before. Will let you know when I conclude the "lake trials" which are imminent.
  21. Hard to tell without more specifics but sounds like a line twist prob
  22. This thread is strong evidence that it's fishing "off season"
  23. I use 20# braid (P-Line) tied to 6# Yo-Zuri leader. I fish my finesse rig a lot
  24. I use both of my Shimano Bantam 10x pretty regular, have never failed me in 35+ yrs
