  1. Lots of selections to try now. Has anyone tried Jackall Clone Gills, or Fry?
  2. I thought about dabbling in the "bird pattern"
  3. Yeah, personal preference, but as a Chef, whether a specific species taste better than another, has a lot to with preparation.
  4. No one said it was wise, no one said using a lure you want back, just large 2/0 trebles. The question isn't whether it's legal or not, but is it correct behavior, no, in either case. A boater cruising a bank where there are FELLOW fisherman. Legal, yes, Ethical, no.
  5. After my hookset its the last gummy worm they'll touch. ; )
  6. I've been known, when fishing from shore, to throw a heavy big trebled plug when a boater decides that the other 90% of the water they have access to just isn't enough.
  7. I used them once fishing, but it is tough unhooking those little kids!
  8. As mentioned in the spray thread, does this thing produce a cloud that is toxic to insects...and humans? I don't like putting poison on my skin, and I don't like breathing it either. Now, excuse me while I go have a smoke.
  9. I am an avid "pond hunter" with Google Earth and have found some awesome fishing holes. I always just drive up and ask(unless there's a gate, then I leave a note). I've only been shot down once. I now fish 6 private ponds regularly, with another dozen on the "occasional" rotation. (Some just aren't productive, or convenient).
  10. I dont fish tourneys, so sometimes,days!
  11. Find the spot on the spot, and I throw swimbaits, big cranks, big spoons, big plastics.
  12. Looked at PFBC regs. and it says nothing about the use of live bait, if you're getting discouraged or losing confidence, get the biggest minnows you can find, dunk a few of them and you will be catching fish again. By the way, we should abandon this thread considering, as far as PFBC is concerned, there are no smallmouth bass in GL.
  13. Just wondering about the height of those seats?
  14. Anyone say Wenonah Fusion???
  15. What we're they using?
  16. Not poppers, but Fin's Gill, and it's not a bad swimming bluegill bait. Haven't fished it too much, since I have baits that are higher in my rotation.
  17. Colorado or California.
  18. Good rule. There are exceptions to this rule. Castaic does make paddle tails that work, and I had a floating Platinum that worked well as a large deadstick/slow wake bait before there were higher quality equivalents. And now there's Savage Gear that are "cheap" and effective. I purchased Reaction Strikes before I knew better, and as poor as those baits were, the Tigers loved them. I also had a "no name" bait, horrible swimmer, but it was in a creek chub pattern that I just couldn't find anywhere,(until I found a custom painter), and it would catch everything(bass, walleye, crappie, musky) within 50 yards of main inlet to the lake I fished until I lost it(I seriously thought about purchasing a new one, but I found a large custom painted Jerkbait that worked). But overall, you get what you pay for, and I will never waste money on "cheap" baits again, especially Storms.
  19. LOL, I told my 11 yr old daughter that closing the bail by hand was the ONLY way it's done...then one day fishing she calls from the back of the boat "Hey Dad, did you know if you just crank the handle the bail closes all by itself!"...thus proceeded the long explanation of why she must continue to manually close the bail.
  20. No, but it could be just as bad.
  21. I always wondered about breathing what the thermocell puts out???
  22. Doesn't really matter, it happens with everything, sonar,reels,baits...you name it. Like someone posted earlier, people are just dumb. Sometimes I wonder though, could there be collusion, between a seller and a bidder,or just a seller with a separate account bidding items up???
  23. Sonar units, and yes shipping is the same. Exactly what I described is happening again. Also, retiredbosn, if you are looking for a Helix unit si/gps units are available on eBay for less than $499.
  24. Nope, same exact Helix models...it's just dumbfounding.
  25. Best fishing partner I ever had, R.I.P. Rock Eldorado Peak, and on the other hand, his brother, Simmerdown Jumpin Boo Jangles, was the worst.
