  1. I haven't, but thought it would definitely be interesting to try. Saw and read this recently... http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/3-d-printing-lures.html
  2. I miss my Ithaca 28 ga., was my first gun, given to me by my grandmother. As stupid kids do, I sold it so I could get a "real gun", 12 ga.1100. I've been hunting for a replacement for a few years, but it's hard to find a nice sxs, in something other than 12 ga. for a reasonable price. I found a 16 ga., but had my wife in tow("what do you need another gun for?"), by the time I returned, it was gone. In reality, I rarely hunt upland anymore, spend the majority of my time chasing honkers and the occasional duck.
  3. Too late for "rain dances" and Cali doesn't need rain, it needs snow. Desalination is coming in the future, but is costly and creates by products that have to be dealt with. The waste of water isn't the smelt or salmon, but ridiculous agricultural growing practices.
  4. Jeez, just a week ago they were catching DD pigs off the docks...now it's bed fishing. Time flys.
  5. I see a lot of people on here recommending taking lights. My advice carry a light, a head lamp and a flashlight, but try to use them very little. Better to allow your eyes to adjust. Once you turn on a light, your night vision is shot, and it will take many minutes for your eyes to readjust. Stealth is very important, so lights and noise are a "no-no". Rig everything prior to fishing, keep it simple and be familiar with equipment and surroundings. Saw the MS Slammer mentioned, yeah,I forgot to mention it, the mini slammer, in black, probably one of the best low light baits ever created. Good Luck, Be Safe. By the way, if I was in FL, I wouldn't fish from the bank at night, gators just scare the hell out of me, but that's just me. ; )
  6. If you've read the DCNR reports, than you know font bother fishing below 25', oxygen levels are too low below that. What's interesting about Google Earth, look for the boats, where are they fishing? To me, I like just north of the dam, pads, lay downs, looks "fishy". Good luck.
  7. I use "midnight specials" black with big thumping colorado blades. As for other baits, almost all my night fishing baits are black,(except for my CL8 bait baby possum) they just silhouette better.
  8. Hehehehe...I totally know what you're talking about.Use to happen to me a lot(still does when I transport my 'toon). I use Yakima Stackers,so my yaks and canoes are transported on their sides, and there is very little strap exposed so no noise, other than that generated by having a boat on your roof. I believe the noise is generated by the strap over the open boat, kind of like a guitar string, not by the length of strap directly attached to your rack. Solution? Dampen the strap to kill the vibration. How? A towel? Pipe insulation? I just live with it, but I don't travel far(or too fast). Good luck. *Please don't take offense to the little chuckle, I've just been there, and like I said, live with it now, when it happens, but I just recall how it would freak out some of my family or fishing partners...completely drive them nuts, and I would just crank the radio!
  9. 55 lb., what I use. Shall we all recite the mantras, "better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it." Or "bigger is better." If you're worried about battery usage, carry an extra. But I've found that extra power comes in handy more often than not.
  10. DCNR has some good information. Listed as a warm water fishery, it has LMB,SMB, walleye, plenty of pan fish, pickerel, and both Tigers and true Musky, and as noted, stocked with trout. Electric only though. Let us know how it is, so when we head up to Cabelas, we'll have a place to fish.
  11. I fish mostly topwater, but also throw large spinner baits, jerk baits, and swimbaits, but only when I know what I'm fishing. I found the key is getting your eyes adjusted to the dark, which means rarely using artificial light(flashlight, head lamp, ect...).
  12. I don't know, I watch that video, something about that erratic action, It's annoying, it p's me off, I just want to smash it...and I'm not even a fish.
  13. Is it an OG 250?! I know someone who might be interested! LOL. Yes, a sickness, my wife and children call it a "mental disorder". *Please show us those "garage pours". I find some of those "garage"/home-made baits the most interesting.
  14. Fish like to trap their meals up against something, so running (somewhat)parallel to banks is almost perfect. I always start with a slow steady retrieve. Then if I see followers or short strikes, mix it up, let it die, give some jerks ect...
  15. That's rub. Who's to say that 5 lb. swimbait fish you just nailed wouldn't have hit a jig, or any other bait? Fundamentally though, although swimbaits are meant to imitate bait fish as realistically as possible, they have to trigger the instinct in a bass to eat it. You do that by one, putting the bait in front of the fish, and two, by making it look like a meal easy to eat, so it has to stand out. When it comes down to it, a swimbait is just another tool in your arsenal. I'll give you an example. This past season, my partner and I were out early morning, it was still pretty dark out, I was in the front, throwing a Wake Jr., he was in the back, throwing a buzz bait. Top water bite was off the hook, and long story short, he matched me fish for fish, and actually had the biggest fish(we weren't catching anything "big"), and had me by numbers too(mainly because he had twice the number of cast). So, all I can say is do what you will with the info. I use swimbaits to target the largest fish in a body of water, but it's just another technique I use. I try to know as many techniques as I can and be as well rounded as I can. Hope that helps.
  16. Hehehe...if ya have to ask...SPEEDBEAD's four baits posted, would cost you nearly $2K, that's if you could even get them. Ya have to go to the flippers on fleabay. It's a very impressive collection, and we all know he has dozens more. He's the man!
  17. When stuck on the bank, with no visible "targets" it's best to try and pick spots that allow you to fish parallel to the bank. It's important to study your water. There may be no structure visible, but there are clues everywhere. You can identify points, flats, drop offs ect...just have to be observant. Even casting to the middle can give you clues to what's below the surface, just pay attention to your bait on the retrieve.
  18. Nice fish. Good to see the Spro rat hooking up.

Welcome from S.E.PA! Don't forget to read the FAQ and use the "search" function. They're a very valuable tool.
  20. WRB said it. It looks steep, except back in the coves on the south sides. North Fork Brush Creek inlet looks promising, and the cove furthest east looks like it has rip rap going to deeper water. I'd fish the creek, dam, opposite south side of the dam, right where that steep face splits, and the two coves, one on the east, and one furthest west on the south side. Stocked with trout, (only in the spring). I'd definitely be using a trout swimbait. Definitely fish in there, from what info I could scrounge up. Get a boat, and Good luck. Tight lines.
  21. It's such a huge bait, I was going to say, a LT baitball imitation.
  22. Dogmatic replied to boostr's topic in Fishing Tackle
Is that the "Mr.Hankey" bait that was referred to and recommended for "urban" fishing holes in the other thread?!
  23. *No boiling required. When the Sick Fish came out, I thought great! A cheaper version of the Trash Fish. Unfortunately, they just aren't the same. As always, you get what you pay for.
  24. You can purchase it off the PFBC Web portal, it's an add on, like trout stamp or Erie permit. I get one for my home water every year. I'm not saying a sabiki rig wouldn't work, but here in PA, check the regs but, I think you could only use a three hook rig(and how many gills will you catch too?).
