  1. There are things I forgot to mention, tracking and wind. Inflatables draft nearly nothing, so whether rowing or motoring, tracking straight can be a problem, especially important if you want to troll at all. There are solutions, the simplest being the addition of a skeg to the bottom of the 'toons(sea eagle sells them, but you can get them anywhere). Fixed the problem, tracks like a champ. The other draw back, because of your higher profile, you're subjected to the effects of wind more.
  2. LOL, I carry two plug knockers, and a pole lure retriever, goggles and snorkel, & folding saw, if I can I will. Sometimes I just cant...attached to a fish(My Baitsmith Shads and umbrella rig), or cold, moving, or deep water are some of the reasons why ya just can't.
  3. Comparison: Hudd Gill,Baitsmith Madgill,Mattlures Ultimate, Mattlures U2...
  4. Like when the grocery store is running a deal, buy the "staples" that don't go bad...hooks, weights, you know, terminal stuff, maybe some plastics, that you always have and can never have too much of.
  5. Yes, finding an actual topo lake map pretty much impossible(unless you do what you're doing, and create one). Have you ever tried the park office, sometimes they have a topo lake map(up on a wall) for their own reference? Good luck.
  6. Anyone ever use RediRigs "instant down riggers". A very easy way to get your baits down deep. http://www.redirig.com/InstantDownriggers-2.aspx
  7. My order was the same, but I just received the email that my order has been shipped, and I literally completed my transaction 5 minutes after the sale started. Might have to do with how many you ordered, and variety(?) I ordered one of each.
  8. Hmmm...can't fish after stocking, guess they're waiting for opening day? Kinda like these jokers?
  9. WOW! That's some customer service! Sounds like a great dealer, don't see anything like that around here. Congrats.
  10. I thoroughly agree with what has been said about personal pontoons. I've hooked mine with no problems. Maintenance almost nonexistent. They're light, usually lighter than kayaks, so, very portable. Easily customizable with plenty of space for gear, and trolling motor/battery. Above all else, the ability to stand(easily), even when sitting you're higher than a yak, and you can maneuver your craft while standing. I own several small craft, yaks, canoes, inflatables, and a small tin boat. When I am heading out by myself to small water, I grab a toon.
  11. East Branch of Perkiomen looks fine, just a little muddy, and the banks are a little slick.
  12. You know they've shipped when all the "flippers" start selling baits on eBay. Great way to make your money back, every listing is twice the original price. : (
  13. Don't know how extensive your research, but I haven't ever been able to find any actual Topos of the lake. I have found historical Topos of the area here: http://www.mytopo.com/maps/index.cfm?lat=40.3750&lon=-75.125& Hope it helps, the site might have maps you can purchase, let me know if you find anything better, maybe the parks office?
  14. With the 2 week forecast not showing nighttime lows above freezing until the middle of next week...I'm revising my prediction of "ice out" to April 8th! ...And Tom, those snakeheads are coming! Just take solace in the fact that our neighbors to the south seem to have adapted pretty well to the snakehead squatters ; )
  15. Kind of embarrassing how well stored many of you have your baits, I hesitate to post my boxes. So I'll post my multiples boxes that I don't carry.
  16. That is very cool, and like Jeff said perfect for rod customization.
  17. Is that a silver star attached to that VUA?
  18. Bigger is better, either way you've decided you're a lucky dog. Congrats.
  19. FDR Park, Newton Lake...at the front lines of the "invasion"...you catch any snakeheads yet?
  20. Nockamixon 3 mile ramp looking east. We've got a ways to go!
  21. Sure do. Thank you.
  22. I believe Cabelas sells small 12v, as a pair with a charger(cheaper elsewhere) that will work well too.
  23. I believe that's the problem, regular transducer is "boat" shaped, DSI transducer is long "bullet" shaped cylinder.(?)
  24. Don't want to start a new thread, and sorry for the "hijack", but does anyone know what paint to use to paint soft plastics, I'm talking airbrushing and such, swimbaits? Thank you in advance.
