Fishing rods are good on amazon if you have prime i saved 30 bucks on a DUCKETT Ghost. But baits not so much
  2. You're on the right track. All i would say is sunny days punch the mat cloudy days fish the edges. Or do both it just takes time to work it over.
  3. Just reach in there and grab it behind the gill and the bottom space under the mouth. You have to grab it like you mean it. You can kinda see my right hand in this pic. This fish isnt 50" or a tiger but close enough.
  4. I use steel leaders on all crankbaits and spinner baits. I cant stand senkos or ned rig and i hate painted blades on spinner baits. Im am also right handed but fish lefty retrieve on casting and spinning gear. I also like the slip knot style bobber stops over the rubber ones for pegging weights
  5. Yea i think thats why we are on this site instead of fishing one more week and we can finally catch some bass
  6. I share all the time the only time i dont is if i feel that a fisherman is un ethical or fishes illegally ir is rude. But i understand people who don't because of heavy pressure or lack of good fishing opportunities. I dont have that problem im Minnesota especially with bass fishing its not a popular as walleye or panfishing.
  7. I think that would be a great muskie and pike bait i want to buy one to try it out fir some muskie action.
  8. Do you have toothy fish in the lakes you fish? If you don't braid is fine if so use FC.
  9. 20lb fc is super tough and probably better off using one or the other than tying a leader the leader has the biggest chance of breaking amd catching on youre guides. You would have to use a fg knot and thats hard to tie and the size of the lines kinda defeats the purpose.
  10. Why don't you strait FC instead of leaders? Just wondering if im missing something.
  11. Could have pulled your trolling motor battery and used it to start your motor. Im assuming youre starting battery died.
  12. Any spook type bait seem to work in that situation for me.
  13. I use sunline in 12 and 16 lb and use kvd conditioner i feel like it helps the line last longer and prevents damage from over runs but it is not needed for line the quality of sunline but for cheaper fc or mono it will really help. I fished 17lb stren and line conditioner really improved the efficiency of a really stiff line. Don't use on braid it will wash the color out of the line in a hurry.
  14. Seaguar invizx Sorry that junk fishes like over priced stren but it breaks more?
  15. Theres plenty of pros that fish for limits nobody knows there names. Fish for biggins small fish seem to hang around small fish leave them find better ones if you think biggins might pull into a spot later go fish the spot later.
  16. I feel the same way i really wanted to buy them and the jig head really got my attention. Then after closer scrutiny i realised its the most basic swimbait with the lamest action I've ever seen and the fact you only get one jig head turned me off.
  17. Thats how Al Linder fishes a drop shot. He has a video on you tube about it and he fishes it on those same weedlines. It works well if you go slow and you need the bait off the bottom more than a Carolina rig or lindy type rig would. A mojo rig with a 1/8 or 1/16 oz weight works well also when fishing massive edges of grass
  18. Whats really been my secret weapon is to pay attention to what most people are using on a certain body of water and do the opposite or use a more natural color. For instance if everyone loves chartreuse spinners or bladed jigs with silver blades ill use a bluegill pattern skirt with a black blade or swim jig seems to get the better bites size wise.
  19. I also wear face shields i like the SA brand. The also keep the chill off you're face on 40degree days with 20mph winds
  20. Duckett ghost 7'3" heavy fast kastking speed demon 50lb power pro braid 3/4 oz strike king tungsten punch weight with skirt keeper Boss bluegill skirt Strike king menace grub rigged vertically Trokar 4/0 flipping hook snell knot I also add rattles
  21. I feel the same way i just cut the shank ant pull the hook out opposite the barbe.
  22. I am also team power pro i like the sunline fx2 but the Power Pro is easier to find and I have not found any flaws with it whatsoever
  23. I own this boat and it should suit your dads needs very well it is very stable plenty if space for 2 people very ez to trailer and launch and affordable. I would suggest going with a 75 hp 4 stroke runs very well with that motor
  24. Go to a marina that deals with mercury motors and they should be happy to tell you all about your motor and what oils and gear lube to use and when to change them. If you are financing your boat get all the extras you want added into the loan i wish i would have done that myself. Also watch some yoi tube videos on the maintenance of your motor amd grease everything on your trailer motor ect
  25. How did you do in SD? I fished roy and cottonwood one 6lb largemouth on roy and a 4.5lb on cottonwood and a bunch of pike is what i got
