when i first learned baitcasting i wanted to throw mine in the lake.i was 34 yeras old at the time.after i mastered it i wound up prefering it to spinning.i still have a spinning rod but most ofmy fishing is done baitcasting.

a guy i know does the same thing but when the lure hits the top of it's way up he whips it down HARD and rockets it through the matt.he usually uses 1 oz. grass jigs for this.

i'm with the guys who use braid.i use 20 lb sufix on spinning and 50 and 65 baitcasting.i have lost fish but not because of line failure.we all lose them sometimes.

like i said,it's just me!!!i usually don't get skunked.i went 2 years without a skunking and just had 1 so far this year.of course i go to catch fish.i just like the challenge of artificials.there is nothing wrong with live bait.i just don't use it.to each his own.

personally i would rather get skunked than fish live bait.i get serious satisfaction out of artificials that i don't get with live bait.but that's just me.

i hate c-rigs even though i have caught fish on them.i hate drop shots even though i have caught fish on them.

not with braid!!!but it is true that it's far more important to have precise casts than long casts.i've never measured it but i think a 1/2 oz.lipless crank should be able to go about 150 feet if you wing it good.

i agree with marty.here in ny a 4 is a nice fish but not a bragging fish.a 7 and up is a bragging fish.i have caught plenty of 5's but only 2 fish over 7 in 40 years of fishing ny.

don't go for 2 weeks.at the end of 2 weeks you'll be shaking for a fix!!!

nothing goofy about it.i play with lures in the bath tub sometimes.

going by your clarified definition i have to say 95% landed.i rarely lose a fish that's ON.it does happen but not that often.

i agree that people who waste the fish are idiots.

nobody should say anything as long as you are within the law.some lakes actually need to have fish harvested.some have stunted populations because of overpopulation.in fisherman had a show on this before the linders sold them.it was very eye opening.btw,i also eat bass sometimes.i keep maybe 5 per year.nothing over 18 inches.i believe in keeping smaller fish and leaving bigger ones.

that method works most of the time.it's still not easy on a live fish.

4 fish per year under 3.5 lbs each.this increaes the chance of them being males.it also leaves the big ones.

southern ny.the bass are pre spawn moving up in the shallows right now.if wood is around i flip a jig to it.if weed flats are present i fish them.sometimes they are cruising the shallow flat spawning areas with no cover.

i've heard it's more important to put the male back to guard the nest.i heard a female caught and released during a tourney will spawn somewhere else.the theory behind that is the female doesn't stat and guard the eggs but the male does.anyway.i find lizards and jigs to work good for me.

i fish finesse as a last resort.usually you will get bigger fish on power techniques.but when you're not getting bites finesse can definately save the day.
