Otter Problem.. what do I do?
I've witnessed first hand otters ruining good bite. I fish a heated reservoir. When they run the pumps from a neighboring lake that shares the dam. fish move in by the thousands to get in that cooler oxygenated water. 2 guides and i were fishing it catching fish for a few hours hundreds. Several otter moved into the area and the bite came to a halt.

What baits should I use for a shallow grass and missy clear lake with some tree limbs
Something weedless and natural. Make a good presentation if they're on any kind of a feed they'll bite if they aint spooked. Clear water fish spook easily. Make longer casts. Take mental notes of fish you may bump and locations. Let them settle. Come back later. This works for me in similar conditions. Be easy on the trolling motor.

Fishing in florida or california
Id probably spend my week in north florida and go south. Waay more lakes to choose from. I agree with everything said almost...You don't need a guide to fish clear lake effectively. I believe any good fisherman can go there and have a good day. I used to fish it often. Didn't have very many bad days. I am not of the opinion you NEED a guide to fish anywhere. Plus it's way more satisfying catching your own fish.

Plain sight... it's simply more efficient. And takes the "feel factor" out of the equation.

durability of Daiwa Lexa 300 and 400
I had a lexa 300 for about 2 years maybe it was made on a monday. Used it on a xheavy swimbait rod mostly used it for rats . And 250s. It started out great. But it felt like it started to flex over time and the gears got rough and in a bind. Then after more time and hard use. mid cast the thumbar Freespool would disengage stopping the spool .casted off 2 baits.I had it rebuilt and sold it. Have had a 300 curado since and like it better.
