  1. Fishing from shore I carry 1 or 2 rods max. And fish 3 baits.Max . Texas rig some plastic either weighted or weightless, chatterbait, or a top water, usually frog or yellow magic.
  2. I have the orochii xx leviathon and love the rod. It sounds great for the applications you're stating. All my other swimbait rods are customs. But I absolutely recommend the leviathan. I don't like throw much over 5 oz baits with it. you won't have a problem with 1 ounce spinners.its got good tip. I use 20-25 flouro. And cxx. Keep your line and knots immaculate. You won't have a problem.
  3. Mine is butch brown hoisting up a 65 pound limit
  4. I learned with big soft swimbait (head smasher xl)rigged weedless with an owner beast. Its by far the farthest, best, easiest, most forgive bait to skip for me. From there I branched out to jigs frogs and chatter baits pegged texas rig beavers.
  5. I wish I had more experience fishing diawas. I just can't bring myself to buy anything but shimano because they have been such great reels. But I'm sure Diawa is among the best of the best. Shimano an Diawa at the top then the rest
  6. I don't mind sharing anything and everything MOST of the time. Fishing for already caught fish is a pattern that's way over rated. The skilled anglers usually will do well no matter what. Unskilled anglers usually will not. Imo
  7. Ive done that with bedding fish a Few times. years ago Pond hopping my buddy broke off a "giant".. about an hour goes by. And I catch a nice 3 pounder with a black and yellow h&h broke off in his mouth. I holler across the pond "what did you break off that giant on?" Sure enough.
  8. I wanna get my hands on one of those shimano gloomis conquest rods
  9. I have both. I'd rather buy 300e at the sale prices they're going for its a bullet proof reel. The tranx is sleeker smaller profile. the The 5.8:1 tranx300 has slightly more ipt than the 6:1 300e. The tranx is a bad ass reel. But so is the 300e. I do alot of swimbaiting. That's mostly all I use them for. Can't go wrong with the 300e.
  10. Yeah I had trouble. And I don't even know how to upload pics from my phone anymore.
  11. Lol yeah I'd say something like that. I've welcomed other br members in my boat before and the offer always stands. I'd love to pay it forward one day . I've experienced the best gift of the forum sharing a good day on the lake with another of like mind
  12. Other than listening to the old timers talk about fork in the 80s and 90s, imo these are the good old days. Tournament sacks are getting bigger. Spotted bass records are getting smashed in norcal smallies up north are thriving. I'm catching more fish and bigger fish than I ever have. Take into account I've been an adult for 11 years always had a boat of some sort. But my experience is diluted compared to alot on here.
  13. I've launched off some pretty sketchy ramps and banks in my 18.5 foot fiberglass Thank God for 4 wheel drive. If the lake looks fishy I'll usually find a way
  14. Like yudo and kicker said the 873 is my go to t rig and jig rod. It's the only nrx I own. I have other 4 power Loomis rods. And to quote kicker don't let the 3 power fool you. It fishes more like a 4 power. Favorite rod I own.
  15. Most fish/amphibians have white bellys. That's how I roll. I try to dredge bottom with my cranks don't think they get a good look anyway
  16. Chumguzzlers
  17. After fishing many high end reels from all the big players I am a 100% shimano man. Havnt fished a jdm casitas, but I do own a aldebaran. My vote says 2 reels are better than 1
  18. Big thanks to James for taking me out on his home lake this morning. James Is a stick he really whooped them today. He caught 6 to my 1
  19. All my spastic mind saw was 10.2 in the title and got excited ready to see pics of a d.d. giant
  20. I guess I'm the only one that has good experience and high landing percentage with a spin shot hook. Trokars. Please don't let.my.opinion sway decision. I use a number 1 orn1/0 offset worm hook and t-rig weedless
  21. Time on the water. Eliminate unproductive water. And learn how to fish offshore structure. Simplify bait selection use a proven bait like a tx rig worm And just fish.
  22. I'd agree. but beware in areas with alot of timber buoyancy is you friend and sometime the more the better. But for sure to the op that's the trick of cranking imo if you're not on bottom you ain't doing it right.
