  1. Can't go wrong with dobyns champion R.M. line of rods. I've used glass but prefer graphite. I like to crank down fast and then really slow down once I'm on bottom but work fast enough to keep it on bottom and feel the bait through the timber and lay downs. Graphite allows me to distinguish bites from cover. Imo. If you ain't cranking on bottom and knockin off all the trash you can you ain't doin it right
  2. Thank you sir. I may not ever get that lucky again
  3. I keep a fillet knife and gallon freezer bags in the boat. For that reason or crappie or cats sandies. Fried fish is probably in my top 5 all time favorite eats. If you use dikes and cut from the gills to the spine while they're still alive. They will taste awesome. I like to do this on a stringer and then put in ice.
  4. Ah gotcha. Seems petty but I understand
  5. Man idk. Probably not. I was soo woozy when it all happened. Wasn't thinking straight didn't get a length or girth. I just know it was an over for sure.
  6. Man just buy a curado spool it with 15 flouro (sniper,seagar,trilene100...) And be good with it. No need to pay twice as much and get a marginal better reel. Curado is the lowest price point reel I own. And I have a pile of shimanos, conquest, metaniums, cores, chrons, but for the price . Curado gets the win imho
  7. Not a chance Would Pam Andersons bolt ons fall into this category?
  8. I have to hold the rod in my left hand while fishing. Rod positioning, body positioning, and hookset mechanics are paramount for consistently putting fish in the boat. It drives me crazy watching people miss fish from poor body position. Because I'm handy capped to being a good fisherman with a right hand retrieve that's what I use. I cast left. Retrieve right. Always. I'm left handed
  9. Yessir I appreciate your concern for this fish health. As we take a lot of pride in our fisheries. And overs here we go the extra mile to ensure the fish is as healthy as possible. The fish was either in a live well , or weigh bag (for a very short time while walking in and out of the marina) full of water. And revived in the tpwd holding tank. She was out of the water for maybe a minute max. I just wanted s certified weigh. We didn't have a scale or ruler in the boat.
  10. Not big enough. And they won't accept any for several more months. If I ever catch a teen she will absolutely not be donated to the share lunker program
  11. I Think those fish would have bit regardless.
  12. Move to the south
  13. Imo... one set up for shallow and" deep deep" cranking is an oxymoron. No way I can throw a deep crank on my shallow set up. Could probably get away throwing shallow cranks on my deep setup but wouldn't want to. However... To answer your question imo the perfect set up would be a dobyns 805 rm cb with a 200 shimano
  14. Not today. P.b... stoked
  15. Gotcha. Is it a solid bait like the keitech? Or ha e a hook slot
  16. Is that the same as the swimming fluke?
  17. When I hit the backing. I try and fill backing to leave enough line for 2 long cast of fresh lin
  18. Not at t.w. anymore ; (
  19. E6x rods are good rods. Good for the price with great accessories and that Loomis cork. But they are heavy. Literally. I wouldn't even consider one for bfs.
  20. Yes? I'm pretty sure every bass I've ever caught on a 6 inch lizard would have eaten an 8 inch just the same. Most of the time I'd rather throw the bigger one
  21. I've probably caught a dozen small mouth bass in my life and I think they all had red eyes. Countless large mouth I can remember one with red eyes. She was a beautiful fish. And had almost an iridescent green golden glow to her. Unlike the other fish we caught around that same day
