Beleive me I was big time tempted to just get a couple.

The PQ rod and reel combo is different than this spring classic combo. Instead of having the PQ on sale for $49, they have the Carbonlite rod and the good PQ reel for $99. It is a great deal. By all means it should cost $200. It is the same as the catalog option of the carbonlite and pq combo. Deffinatly not the black friday pq combo.

Went to Bass Pro for the Premier members rewards spring classic preview. One of the sale items was a combo rod and reel. Reel is a Lews Speed Spool Tournement MB and the rod is a cheap bass pro spiral graphite. Sale price is supposed to be $149 according to a flyer I received. I looked on the price tag for the rod and reel and it was $49.99. Not just one but all of the combos on the rack. Being an honest man, I brought the mistake to the attention of the manager and he promply pulled them all off the floor. The reel alone cost $139.00 Got a free spool of fishing line of my choice with my Shimano Citica purchase for my honesty. Never seen something like that before so thought I would share.

I set 2 of the centri brakes and then adjust the tension knob. I will add magnetic break when i throw a lighter bait or in windy conditions.

Any reel that you like and feel comfortable with will work. It is all user preference. I would up my line to 50lb braid but that is me.

Quite the wrong info here. The PQ, ABU, Lews, Pfluger are all made the same company and rebranded under each name. Look up Doyo in Korea and you will see many of your favorite brands there.

The spring classic flyer came out and it seems there is a new reel called the Titanium 8. Anyone seen these or possibly have one? Also there is a combo on sale. Lews tournament MB on a BPS Spiral Graphite. Anyone know about this rod?

Depends on the location of the bass.

Transom, transom, transom. Raise the motor up and put your weight on it. If the transom flexes, walk away. If the boat is fiberglass and older than 2000 there is a good chance it has wood stringers. If any part of the deck is soft there could be bad stringers as well. Not always but could be. If you look at the hull and see slight cracks on it, walk away. If you find one that you really like, pay the $100 to take it to a marine for a check over before you test drive.

What is multi purpose to one person is not multi purpose to another. You stated that you like to throw baits 1/4 to 3/8 so the medium action is multi purpose giving what you are fishing with. You the right choice for the baits you are using.

I get these kinks from storing rod over night. It is not a kink really. Go ahead and fish, it will go away and does not hurt the line. When you store your rod, it will be back over night. I have caught a crap load of fish on first cast with this "kink" without line break.

Silly question. Have you checked the fuel filters? I have a 76 Merc thunderbolt that did the same thing. And when started, would bog down at full throttle. I pulled the cowling of, primed the bulb and fuel was spraying out the hoses and fittings. $9 all new hoses and fittings. Also cleand filters and it runs great. Try pulling your cowling off and prime it. Could be sucking air.

Great year for me. Finally got a boat to call my own and caught my PB.

I know that my BPS does not do reel service. Do not think any store does. The have a service that would have to send it to. They do not carry parts either in the stores.

I use C21 for my crankbait rod with great results. However, I beleive that for jig, t-rig probably not the best. If you do not like braid, I also use P-Line floroclear with good results. Great knot strength (I use the Uni Knot exclusively on all setups and line) and can bend hooks on snags. I have used the P-Line CXXX but did not care for how stiff it is. I ended up using the CXXX for leader line. Keep using the C21 for your crankbait setup.

Go to a store and check them out. Much better than asking everyone to start arguing about it on a forum.
