Is this rod with the twisting handle the rod that replaced the broken tip rod? I know that once you receive a new rod from Duckett on a replacement for warranty, the rod sent is now void of warrenty. If someone knows different, please correct me. The warranty page has changed since I registered my micro magic. If they are willing to help you with your reel seat on a replacement rod for minimal cost of a new one I would go for it. I believe you just have a bad circumstance for the defect. I agree though that it sucks none the less.

Duckett are good rods. Not even close to white carrot sticks as they have been called. Completely different blank. Last year's models probably on sale because of the new micro magic pro that is out replacing the micro magic.

I highly doubt blood in the water would be a deterrent to bass since bass will eat smaller bass. A blood trail in the water means dinner time. If had to worry about human scent on my bait I wold never be able to tie a bait to my line. Noise on the water depends on what kind of noise I suppose. Every time I cast a bait into he water there is a noise and a splash. Bass are curious and will check out what made that splash and noise.

I would look at it this way. The Smoke is one of the Quantums I do see getting higher praises than the others. From what I understand and have read or heard, Quantum customer service is good. So if there is problems with the reel then you can go that route. Every brand has a bad apple in the pile. You buy 20 Shimano, 20 Daiwa or 20 Revo reels and have 19 that are great and one that just does not measure up.

Sorry if I was bashing. Not my intention. I was just mentioning because it is not only here that I see Quantum getting a bad rap.

Glad to hear you have a reel you like. It makes going fishing more enjoyable than going and cursing your gear all the time. Keep fishing it and have fun. Don't worry about everyone talking it down. If you enjoy it that is all that matters.

I find it curious how many bad reviews the quantums receive, including from myself with bad experiences and how many of the professionals use them. KVD, Swindle, Bifflet, Dance, Grisby. I often wonder if they get different reels to use than general public. I would have to assume that with big money on the line that pros would not want issues out on the water fishing and would use the best that was offered to insure their chances. But perhaps they make more money from the sponsors than winning the tournament. However to keep the sponsor you have to do well.

If it is a micro magic, 20 year warranty. If it is a ghost, 1 year from purchase. Give Duckett a call. Might be surprised with their response.
