Marin county is a "short drive" to clear lake and casting distance to the Delta. You can find plenty of bass clubs (delta bass club) in those areas. I follow some websites for tips and stuff. Look them up.

I bought my new tarpon for less. I picked my yak for the size of ponds I fish, transporting and weight to lift. Have you physically seen the yak? I saw one, big, wide and heavy. You mentioned small bodies of water, would that yak be too big? For the marshes, no problem. Maybe two? Just a few things to think about. And welcome to the crazy addiction.

If you have a Dicks sporting, bass pro or kayak store near you, go and get on or inside all possible kayak. If you have a kayak rental place or have friends with one, get on the water. Wilderness system, Hobie, Jackson, emotion, Ascend, Perception and Ocean kayaks are just a few of many brands. It can be fun and overwhelming but mostly fun.

My first BC reel was the bantam chromica. Still have it.
