Farm Ponds done for the season?
If not now, soon. I posted in the end of season thread, that I am usually guided by the Koi in our pond. It's about 5.5 ft at it's deepest. They stopped eating yesterday evening.

End of season for me
Where in the world have you been Tom? They have been excitedly ranting about Lake Fork for about three weeks now. Everyones going just about. Muddys cooking, guides and boats are being rented as we speak. I would absolutely love to go, but my boat should be here in Dec or Jan, and for this first season I doubt I will be able to let it out of my sight. Thanks for the invite though, and hope it makes it to 3rd annual! By the way, who in the hell is going to be running this board? With all of you guys on a trip, I should be able to easily get my post count up to 1500! ;D

End of season for me
Well the inevitable bad news was delivered last night. The Koi in our pond refused to eat. This has been a fairly accurate barometer for me in the past, so I guess I'm about done. NEXT YEAR!

Sinking the steel
Pure art LBH. Excellent video that will be helpful to many. Out of those ten or so scenes, I only noted one baitcaster. You need to up that ratio, as well as your caloric intake to calorie burned ratio as someone else mentioned ;D I also believe that the term "hookset" should not come into play when using trebles. Keep the pressure on and they will hook themselves up. GREAT VIDEO once again.

All around bass rod, suggestions?
I'm sorry, I just noticed you needed two-piece. I have no experience at all with those. You can't just throw the rod between the front seats with the tip at the rear window?

All around bass rod, suggestions?
I feel you. I don't have dozens of set-ups for specific applications either. I don't own any spinning gear, so I can't get specific, but I really like All Star rods. Made in USA and have several different price points. Welcome to the board by the way.

I need a slump buster
It happens to everyone. Each year that goes by though, your slumps will become less pronounced, because you will rely on what you have learned from the previous slumps. My antidote has always been..SLOW DOWN when the bite is slow. Soft plastic bite off? Dead stick it for 2 or three minutes before raising it. Use a suspending jerk bait instead of a crank, and finesse fish it like a plastic..letting it suspend for extended periods before sweeps. My disclaimer is this is what works for me in my waters. Other guys will have other methods. Good Luck! Keep in mind that everyone gets skunked.

Welcome, You'll love it.

Best overall mono fishing line?
If you are trying to get comfortable with a baitcaster, start with braid. It is much easier to cast than mono.

**VIDEO--New Member Intro**
Outstanding as usual LBH. Love the accent too! Welcome aboard Nathan! WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU? ;D

Is C-Rig only used on casting gear?
You certainly can use a c-rig with spinning gear, most probably do. I've never owned a spinning reel so I am not speaking from experience, but I think alot of guys prefer spinning setups for soft plastics, and c-rig/dropshot techniques.

Mann's Baby 1-Minus
I'm not sure where you live, but this isn't a great time of the year for shallow crankbaiting for me.

Tournament fishing--a negative view
I must quantify my above post by stating that two wrongs do not make a right. My partner is also an ex-D.C. cop and is now a Federal Agent, so we both suffer from the mental illness known as "contempt of cop". The tourney participants that do not operate their vessels in a sportsmanlike manner, invariably get close-fished by us, followed, etc. My friends boat has a pretty decent CD player in it so that comes in handy as well. It basically turns into a giant ticking contest and volley of threats, until we trump them at the last minute with our credentials. I realize that is not the proper use of police I.D. We have both spoken to the director at the ramp, and both parties are hoping to start over brand new next year. We'll see what happens. But I reserve judgement until then. My stance at this moment is that district 11 or 3 ABA (Ican't remember which) members are pompous *****.

Tournament fishing--a negative view
I agree with both sides somewhat, but am leaning towards RW's take. I fish a popular area off of the tidal Potomac called Mattawoman Creek, usually once a week on my friends boat. ABA has two tourneys a week out there in the summer, and I would say most if not ALL the participants from this district are very self important a-wholes. They will run WOT from spot to spot 1/4 mile apart. They intentionally wake you and always have that fake expression of concentration and importance on their faces. We are no lame looking newbies either. We look the part and are in a high dollar boat, so I'm not sure where their "pro angler" attitude stems from.

quick change snap used by kVD?
I waste time and tie everything directly to the bait. I'm probably incorrect but, I can't see how any kind of snap/swivel that close to the bait would NOT effect it's action.
