  1. Give the American Tackle Aero grips a shot. Most comfortable spinning grip I have ever held. Folks I have used them for on builds love them. Ernel and Andy nailed it - Alconites are the way to go. Can't be beat for the price. Eddie
  2. I 100% agree with Batson as Bowtech stated. Also, recommend Castaway from Swampland tackle. Eddie
  3. Was a great show. Was great catching up with another BR member, bowtech_182. Of course there was so much to do and see that I didn't see him again after our initial meeting Saturday AM. I stayed in the seminars about 80% of the time. Having done this for little over a year now I was wanting to learn some new some stuff. Learned a lot of great things that am wanting to try - snake skins, foam core and graphite, micro guides, etc. and learned a lot about lathes - that is next on my list! Best part of the show, one of my rod building hero's, Rich Forhan, gave me his jig that he has been using to determine grip locations for the rod's he builds. I will continue to use this jig and will be a special tool for me. Amazing all the sharing and discussions that take place. Eddie
  4. Just curious if others are coming to High Point, NC this weekend? Plan on driving over Sat AM and Sunday afternoon. Got some good seminars planned and always good to see what else is out there. Anyone else going?
  5. From a similar post a long time ago http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1205420436/8#8 My apologies for the length We sold our last house as a FSBO. There was a FSBO seminar that was offered in our area that we went to one night. Think it was $25 and worth every penny - highly recommend. Going FSBO is not a bad option if you have the time to sell. There were several factors that led us to go FSBO: 1. We had time 2. We were in a high traffic area. 3. Houses in our neighborhood moved VERY fast Time this, to me is the most important part. We were building so we had about 10 12 months to sell and we put our house up a month or so after we started building. We mapped out a plan that we were going to follow: 0-3 months: We would FSBO our self with flyers and free postings in the area. Cost: printing flyers. Our flyer was very SIMPLE. People sometimes go overboard with these but ours was one sheet front and back that gave general information. 3-6 months: List in the local FSBO magazine that would also get us in the MLS. Cost: $250 - $500 depending upon the listing package. After 6 months: Interview and list with a real estate agent. RW is spot on. Sell your house at fair market value. Do not take less just because you are not going to use an agent. The $10K that you could sell for less because you are not using an agent, use that for concessions during negotiations allowances, home warranty, offer to pay for inspection, etc. There are a number of web sites that will provide you a report for estimating the value of your home based upon recent sales in the area, comparable houses, tax records, valuations, etc. Think the one we used cost $95. Another reason not to discount the price, you have to consider that an agent might be needed eventually. If you do have to list with an agent, they will be hesitant to raise your already discounted price will send a bad message to buyers who saw the asking price when FSBO. So, what will happen is that your price will stay the same, but the agent will still take a commission then you are out more than just the $10K. Another reason for not discounting the price: More than likely you will end up selling to a buyer with a buyer's agent. In our area that commission is 2.5% to 3.5%. So you need to find out the minimums and factor that into your asking price as well. The lady that we sold our house too had a buyer's agent. The first question out of her (agent) was are we willing to pay her commission? My response was that we were not opposed to it, but would consider during negotiations just like stated on the flyer. That was the end of it and we did pay her commission as part of the negotiating process. Once again, do not discount your price. Ask a fair market price and use the savings for leverage during negotiations. Couple of things to keep in mind: The first 20-50 fliers will go to your neighbors and people nearby. So do not waste your best fancy paper and color printing on this first batch of fliers if that is an issue. Be sure to note in your flyers that you Will work with brokers and buyers' agents with qualified buyers those last three words are the most crucial. The agents and brokers will be ringing your phone off the hook the first few weeks - 90% of them are fishing. Tell them you will work with them if they have qualified buyers. They will try to push you into singing with them. Tell them you have a plan do not give time frames and if your house hasn't moved by when you need it too, you will be interviewing agents and will contact them also, use this as an opportunity to pre-interview and screen agents in case you do have to list. The first few weeks our house was on the market I logged every call. After 30 calls I quit keeping track. I probably got another 20-30 calls. BTW do not let agents host an open house for you. Several tried that with us. This is a tactic for them that does not help you at all actually works against you. They are looking to get people who would not normally go to an agent hosted open house but will go to FSBO open house. The agent is looking to get these folks as a buyer's agent, and, show them other properties they may have. This may take away a potential buyer. One thing that we really got a lot of compliments on that was very helpful for us and buyers that I highly recommend - was that I put together a notebook about the house. In it was information about the house taxes, evaluations, property disclosure (required by NC), manuals and warranties for appliances (we replaced A/C, hot water, dishwasher disposal, etc.), recent power bills, recent water bills, information on schools, nearby restaurants, grocery stores, etc., lots of good pictures, pre-sales inspection report (do not get a full blown inspection as the buyer will probably want this anyway with their own inspector), offer to buy contract, and the report that showed how we based our price showed what other homes in the area was selling for. Let me conclude by saying that I am not anti real estate agent. Not at all. After all the interviews with buyers, showings and phone calls, real estate agents earn their money. It takes a lot of effort and can be very disruptive when you work full time and then have to take time to let total strangers into your house and give them a hosted tour. We missed and had a lot of late suppers showing the house, but it was worth it. When we sell the house we are in now we will probably go with agent because we are in an area that does not get a lot of traffic. We will need the visibility that only an agent can provide. But, if given the time PM if you need anything else. Will be happy to help anyway I can.
  6. Those look nice!
  7. That is awesome. 8-) It's always good to see where your family is from. Italy? How cool is that!
  8. How to lose a guy in 10 days Dirty Dancing You've got mail / Sleepless in Seattle
  9. Congrats, Muddy!!!!! I remember when you started considering going to school. Tremendous accomplishment and says a lot about your character. Enjoy your accomplishment. Eddie
  10. I agree. Enough already. Let's drop the flag and get going! geeez....
  11. I work with a guy like that - argue with a flippin' wall. He once sent out an email to a bunch of folks explaining some issues. I replied back and agreed with him citing some other work he had done on another project. Even paid him a compliment for the research he had performed. He immediately emailed back and started arguing with me on the information I was using to support his case! Data that he had put together and done! I explained that to him later when I saw him. His response "oh". No apology, no acknowledgement, nothing.
  12. Another good "how to" from Larry Dahlberg tonight. Making a lure from RTV for the mold and super plastic. But, the most fascinating part was the end. Was talking about making lures and how we wanted us, the viewer to go and make lures that we wanted. He then stated that he left specific instructions for when he passes. He is to be cremated and the ashes are to be blended into and made into several kinds of lures - like he showed us. He then has specific instructions where each lure is to be fished and when. Once the fish is hooked, the lure is to be broken off. Thought that was kind of cool. Very fascinating, not for me, but fascinating. Eddie
  13. I have used the Booyah and Strike King buzz. Most of mine are black or dark colored to stand out in low light conditions. Really like the SK mini buzz for a different look and sound.
  14. The "Darth Doody" line from Stewie is classic - diaper going over to the dark side....
  15. Not a member of Team Pampers, but I totally dig the Peppers. Have always enjoyed their music. Especially their live music. As a bassist, respect Flea and what he brings to the song. Chad Smith is an excellent rock "power" drummer. Suck my Kiss, although don't like the language, is just one heckuva a tune. Great riffs and enough energy to power a medium sized city. Even makes me want to mosh. I used that song many years for sound checks on electric bass gigs as it worked the entire register and provided a great standard for mixing with the the fast runs and bottom end. Was amazing, as a Christian Musician I would check on this tune at Christian events/venues and there were always a few folks that would look up and say "hey, isn't that the Chili Peppers?". Good music is universal and not limited to one genre, age group, class, religon, etc. It's all good.
  16. Well, if it were someone's birthday, I would wish them a happy birthday. Hope its a good one!
  17. That top one looks great. Would love to throw that bottom one as well. Think the fish would like it - at least in my pond anyway.
  18. Very cool picture.
  19. Thetr20one, I watched the Guida fight again last night and I have to respectfully disagree. Diaz got some jabs in on Guida in the first round and was able to pull Guida in his guard. But, Guida controlled him from the top. Diaz got in a good knee and landed a couple of hard shots, but Guida controlled him the entire round. Second round Guida controlled beginning to end. Guida shrugged off an attempt at a hip throw from Diaz and kept Diaz in the fence almost the entire round except for the last minute or so when he took Diaz him down, controlled his guard and almost had him in a triangle at the bell. Round three was Diaz's best round, but Guida still controlled by clinching and taking Diaz to the ground mid-way. The beginning and end of the round Diaz got in some big shots but Guida I thought did a better job of controlling and defending him. It did look like to me that Diaz was gaining momentum as the match went along. Think it might have been different if the match had went longer. I do 100% agree on the Parisyan match. How he won that is beyond me. He had some moments of brilliance with his JJ, but, overall he was maintained and controlled almost the entire match and was definitely not the more aggressive.
  20. Hey, I saw that episode too a while back. Was great, had it DVR'd and went back and wrote down how he made Mr. Wiggly. Here is what I have: Model makers wax used to create form of Mr. Wiggly. Warm in the microwave to make a little easier to shape. Leave a high spot in the back that will be used as the pour hole. Mix RTV at room temperature for vulcanization - part A and B - mixed about 10:1. Glue gun to attach "box" sides to glass or other slick surface. Pour RTV in form, this will be the bottom of the mold. Let set just a little then place alignment pins and Mr. Wiggly in RTV. Sprinkle in mold release powder (found at hobby and craft stores) over bottom mold and Mr. Wiggly. Pour in RTV for top of mold leaving high spot on back exposed for pouring hole. After sets up and dries ~8-10 hrs, remove Mr. Wiggly form and ready for pouring. Mix Plastisol - warm in the microwave for better mixing and pour into mold. Here is what I had from that same episode for making big spinner blades from large table spoons: Use 5-minute (or slower) to create spinner blades. Use spoon, put wax (turtle wax)on the inside and fill with epoxy Flashabou mirage cutout and inserted in the epoxy. Drill out hole. I love his show as well. Eddie
  21. Agree, Big Tom. Amazing. GSP dominated from the opening bell. I didn't think BJ would get beat up, much less dominated. I thought it could go either way with either GSP punching out BJ, or, BJ using that flexibility to get a submission with an over agressive GSP. Had no idea how it would go that way and certainly didn't expect that finish. GSP is a class act. Duma, sorry I must have missed something. I thought there were several people ahead of Machida with a shot at Evans/title. I was saying, he (Machida) should be moved to the top of the list and let him have a shot at the title next fight. Didn't know it was coming. Very cool. Give my congrats to Guida, big fan of his. Love his intensity, energy and down to earth demeanor. Seems like one heckuva of a good guy - loved the belches between rounds and the full nelson. Eddie
  22. Yes, there are several of us. Getting ready for the GSP and BJ match. This should be good. I have no idea how this is going to go. I love Guida. He is one of my favs in all of MMA. Great match with Diaz. Glad he took him down. Machida is a beast. Give him a shot at the title.
  23. Glad things are looking better for you. Yes, the ice storms are miserable. We didn't have power for over a week when we got hit several years ago. The first few days were kind of cool - staying by the fire, cleaning out the freezer - we had steaks for breakfast. But, the novelty QUICKLY wore off for the wife by the third day, which means it wore for me as well. Was glad to see those lights come back on and take a shower. Also, check your trees around the house. We learned that the ice storm weakened a lot of trees and branches, but, they didn't come loose or got hung up in other limbs/trees. Some strong winds came through about a week later and did some damage in the area. We had a big 10" dia x 10' long pine branch fall about a week later during some strong wind that missed our outside AC/heat pump by inches. I noticed it hanging/caught in the tree after the storm but didn't do anything about it. Lesson learned.
  24. Those look great. Nice job on the color correction, LooksLikeSinbad, really makes a difference in seeing how nice these are. You lure guys are amazing.
  25. Looks similar to where I go often. Weightless senkos t-rigged thrown around structure and rattle traps thrown out past the deeper sections so you are pulling through them.
