  1. Austin Kayak has free shipping. keep checking their site often, they'll have closeouts on a lot of models, but it is usually very limited quantity so you'll have to act fast
  2. Pflueger Supreme would be my choice
  3. probably because you live in Maryland and not Musky country you must have giant hands or you dont palm the reel if you prefer round over LP they are used for Musky, never said anything about bass. The Tranx is even bigger than the Lexa 400 at 20oz and the Tranx is the gold standard of Musky reels right now for burning double 10 bucktails
  4. same reasons guys dont use round reels for bass fishing anymore. low profile are smaller, more comfortable, easier to use, lighter, faster gear ratios. most guys are using abu revo toros, shimano curados and tranx, diawa lexa 300 and 400, and the okuma komodo 350 and citrix 350. you can hold plenty of 80lb braid on those reels.
  5. Pflueger supreme. just as smooth as my Revo 3 SX but a little heavier
  6. I'd go with a low profile reel like the Okuma Citrix 350 or Komodo 350 with an Okuma EVX musky rod. very few people are still using the round Abu's anymore for musky fishing
  7. +1 for the supreme. the 35 size should match up well with a MH rod
  8. +1 on the Supreme. I like it almost as much as my Revo SX's
  9. I get $20 off coupons from BPS all the time. Just log in, add items to your cart and dont buy them. After a day or two you'll start getting the $20 coupons emailed to you. also, Amazon prime is $99 per year unless you are a student, then it is $49. anybody can get a student email by signing up at their local community college even if you never take a class. it also gives you free 2 day shipping. overnight shipping you still have to pay extra for.
  10. flipping it for a $2300 profit seems like the thing to do. on the other hand it sounds like you like a good restoration project, so go for it if you think you'll love the boat long term
  11. I really like my 7FT MH St croix premiers, but thats over $100. Cabelas does have an in store special on the split grip premiers; $30 off right now if you can find one in stock
  12. I really like my Rage rods. I have 2 casting and 2 spinning. also I prefer a 30 size pflueger for a medium rod. 35 is for medium heavy IMO
  13. they should both be moderate actions. probably a typo online. go in a store and check them out, I bet you they are identical actions
  14. cabelas has the abu garcia black max for $30. you can add a rod like the cabelas pro guide or berkley lightning rod.
  15. I just picked up 2 Revo S on amazon for $83 a piece. could be an option to consider since its only $13 more than the Pro Max
  16. two new gen3 Revo S's from Amazon to replace my gen1 Revo S's. Saw them for $83 each and couldnt pass it up. I wonder if they are coming out with a new model at iCast?
  17. I'd spend a little more for the Pflueger Supreme 30 (the lighter weight is worth it). I think a 6'6 MF or 7' MF is a better all around rod option
  18. name some others in his $700-1000 price range then... PS. I have a commander 120 and it isn't the best for standing (preferred my Ride 115 for standing, but sold it because I rarely stand in the kayak)
  19. If standing is really your top priority, I'd go with the Ride 115 or Lure 11.5. The lure is wider and heavier (slower) than the Ride. If you need something to travel longer distances, get the 13ft version of the Ride or Lure.
  20. Pflueger Supreme 30 size and any of the $100 rods others mentioned
  21. I got a big spool of Big Game 12lb on sale this spring, have been using it this year and I think it's pretty good. last year I used sufix siege 12lb and I think I liked it better than the big game.
  22. I have two BPS Extreme travel rods. they go on sale for $70-80 and include a hard tube
  23. good luck with that. GM used to have lifetime warranties on some of their rods and they no longer honor that warranty
