  1. +1 he could get one or two Dig-In shallow water anchors with mounts and a decent sonar/GPS combo for the price of one power pole or talon
  2. A Ride 135 with rudder and Air Pro Max seat would do all those things well
  3. I have a JMSS II casting rod with an EVA split grip. the current one looks very similar but they went back to cork grips. I like it, but IMO you should never pay full price for a BPS brand rod. On sale they are a good value and even better value when you do the rod trade in during the spring classic. I think I ended up paying under $90 for mine.
  4. Lund has a glass Pro-V tiller. Larson FX has glass tillers up to 20ft
  5. Cabelas has the St Croix Rage 7ft MH on sale for $115. same blank as the Avid, with different handle and guides (and made in Mexico). I have 4 Rage rods and love them. I also have 2 Premiers that are nice as well (made in USA). http://www.cabelas.com/product/St-Croix-Rage-Casting-Rod/1253428.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch%2F%3FN%3D5100297%26Ne%3D5100297%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Drage%26Ntx%3Dmode%252Bmatchallpartial%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts%26WTz_st%3DSearchRefinements%26form_state%3DsearchForm%26search%3Drage%26searchTypeByFilter%3DAllProducts%26x%3D10%26y%3D6&Ntt=rage
  6. I think a Revo S is a good reel to start with and matches up with the Veritas rod. left or right hand is your call. I'd start with 40 or 50lb braid
  7. I've heard good things about the EVX musky rods and I'm planning on buying 2 of them
  8. as long as you arent fishing in heavy cover or for muskies, you can get by with 8lb Trilene XL for spinning gear and 12lb Trilene XT for baitcasters
  9. I handled one in the store and it seemed very smooth and solid compared to the Abu Orra SX which goes for the same price
  10. Anyone have experience with this reel? Seems to have good but few reviews on most sites. I just ordered one from BPS for a backup/loaner rod. Going to be paired with a Fenwick Silverhawk 6'6" M rod. Most of my other reels are Abu Revos, but was looking to save a little money. Got it for $80 after a $20 off coupon and there is also another $20 MIR.
  11. ah, how could I forget about the slidetrax. its a great feature to have on my Tarpon 120 and Commander 120. I can move rod holders and my fish finder between the two kayaks. however, you could always add a track system to the pescador as well. the hatches dont matter much IMO unless you are doing an overnight trip or fishing the ocean or great lakes
  12. IMO everyone should have at least one of each. sure you can get a high end supertuned baitcaster to throw light lures, but it's much cheaper and easier to get a spinning outfit. conversely, you could get a big saltwater reel and rod to throw heavy baits, but a heavy casting outfit is going to weigh half as much and be easier to fish all day. Everything else in between you could really go either way. I'm probably 60/40 casting to spinning outfits
  13. if the tarpon doesnt have the newer orbix hatches, then it should be the same as the pescador. I'm not sure but I think even the older tarpons had better seats than what you'll get on the pescador. the current tarpon is a different hull and has a much better seat than the pescador
  14. just bought my girlfriend a 30 size pink President. They are great reels but I prefer the lighter weight of the Supremes on my finesse rods
  15. 25 or 30 size pflueger, whichever balances better on your rod.
  16. as soon as their sponsors start making mushroom head jigs and TRD knockoffs
  17. I really like my Wiley X sunglasses that I got for free (plus $15 S&H) with a Abu Garcia reel about 5 years ago. I think they go for around $80 new. My next pair will have the facial cavity seals
  18. have you fished out of a deep V? my Lund gets into a foot of water no problem without getting stuck
  19. I dont see the need to ever go bigger than 30 size for bass. it will hold up to 8lb mono fine and if you need heavier just use braid
  20. I have a Lund, but also considered the Alumacraft Competitor and the Crestliner Fish Hawk. Those are both great deep-V boats with large casting decks. Get the aft conversion bench seats which when folded down double the size of your aft casting deck. Sometimes I fish from the back and use the I-pilot remote to control the boat.
  21. highly recommend this net from BPS. i have one for my kayak and just bought the bigger model for my boat. they do go on sale from time to time http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Gold-Series-Folding-Landing-Net-with-24-Handle/product/42745400/
  22. Plueger Supremes are my go to spinning reels. I have the 25 size on my Medium Light rod and 30 size on my Medium rods.
  23. I have a casting and spinning BPS travel rod and they are very nice and on sale right now! they also come with a free hard tube which I dont think the triumph has. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Extreme-3Piece-Travel-Spinning-Rod/product/1408121536/ http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Extreme-3Piece-Travel-Casting-Rod/product/1408121517/
