  1. I have no experience with Raymarine so I cant comment on their products. I use Humminbird and have two 788ci HD DI's on my boat and a basic Piranhamax on my kayak. I use the Piranhamax because I took it off my boat when I upgraded to the 788's, but it is a nice basic unit to give me depth readings and water tempature, which is all I really need for fishing small lakes on the kayak; plus I can power it with 8 AA rechargeable batteries in a little dry bag so I dont need to bring a bigger battery in a battery box. GPS would be nice but I know alot of people use the navionics app on their phone for that. If you have a sit on top kayak with scuppers, lowrance makes a scupper transducer that is easy to install. you can get a unit without the transducer and buy the scupper transducer separately; or I think you can contact lowrance to exchange the standard trasducer with the scupper mount for a small fee. Also keep in mind that color uses alot more battery than grayscale units. From what I've heard, you want at least a 7" screen for side imaging. they make some 5" units but they arent very popular.
  2. DI is a very narrow cone compared to normal 2d sonar. pretty much only useful for vertical jigging directly below your boat. I'd get something with 2D sonar and GPS if possible.
  3. if it is one of the new mojo's, they are much lighter than the old ones. Scorpifish, save your money and just get a Pflueger supreme 30 size. no need to get a superlight reel for a mojo bass rod. or spend more money on your rod instead of the reel
  4. I have the same rod. no need to spend $200. get a Pflueger supreme 30 size its a perfect match
  5. thank the internet and price matching for that. exclusive products are the only way to make good margins
  6. I like sufix 832. 10lb should be plenty but you could go 20lb
  7. as far as I know, pflueger is the only brand that has 25 and 30 size reels.
  8. I'm not a fan of fluoro on spinning reels. I'd go with braid with fluoro leader or good old 8lb trilene XL
  9. look at them in person, totally different looking and different braking systems to boot. regular supreme looks nothing like any abu reels
  10. I'd go with the 7ft medium. it is designed for tube baits, grubs and small worms.
  11. this is not true. they are completely different frames and weights. I have a current gen supreme and it is very nice for the price and much better than a comparably priced Abu Orra or Max series reel. I also have current gen Revo's and they are nicer than the Pfluegers, but for my money I really like the Supreme unless you want a really light reel.
  12. 2000 shimano and 20 size pflueger are completely different. 20 size pflueger is ultra light and equivalent to a 500 shimano. OP, I like 25 size pfluegers for ML rods. 30 size would be fine too if you like the balance of it on the rod
  13. not my cup of tea, but my dad catches a lot of pond bass on senkos with a 6'6" medium ugly stick and 8lb mono. Pflueger trions are good budget reels. BPS has the Sedona on sale for $39 right now.
  14. what are some good downstate lakes that dont have a HP restriction and would be friendly to a Lund Deep-V boat? looking to do an early spring trip
  15. too many guys with Avids and Avid X's upset that they can get basically the same rod for a lot less just a different color and made in mexico.
  16. I go multiple times every year but mostly because I live 5 minutes away. I usually do at least 1 rod trade in but i've pretty much run out of cheap old rods to trade in. my store was about as crowded as usual and they were sold out of most of the Sufix 832 and speed shads that i wanted to get. Went home with a new 8wt Mojo Bass fly rod though!
  17. great versatile rod. I have two and they work for smaller spinnerbaits, swim baits, t-rigs and plastics
  18. I think you're getting too caught up in semantics. St croix claims their mexico factory is identical to their Park Falls factory. if they are using the same material SCIII in both rods, it is going to be similar, whether or not "blank" is the correct term. if you look the Rage and Mojo Bass rods have identical actions to the LTB rods even though they use a different material.
  19. I have 2 Revo SX paired up with st Croix rage rods. you might still be able to get one in their bargain room. if not I'd look at the new Mojo Bass series
  20. I got a dig in shallow water anchor and motor mount from TW on sale. great deal and works fine
  21. at special events you can usually get 2x, 3x or 4x points on certain brands
  22. you can use any reel in salt if you clean it. the XT has a sealed drag, the regular does not
  23. nice reel for the price and better than the abu orra's IMO. Amazon has them for ~$83
  24. I'd just get the regular supreme unless you're fishing salt water
  25. I'd suggest a wide arbor spinning reel to increase your casting distance. Pflueger has one, BPS makes them, Lews might have one as well
