  1. I just saw this and dont really have a clue about a Quantum baitcaster but if it was a $300 reel it has to be one hell of a good reel for $99 right? http://www.cabelas.com/product/bargain-cave/rock-bottom-deals/fishing-boating%7C/pc/105591780/c/105642180/sc/105647580/quantum-174-exo-pt-casting-reel/1871578.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-boating%2F_%2FN-1102654%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_105647580 I see about once a day guys asking about the best reel for $100 surely this is a steal. OK experts so whats the deal is it a decent buy? Quantum® EXO PT Casting Reel Regular Price: $299.99 Sale Price: $99.99
  2. NetBait Paca Craw with 4/0 hook with or without a small worm weight T rigged is one of my favorites.
  3. I like the Footloose SB16 a lot of places i go 3 or 4 feet is all you want a crankbait to go. But I too am no expert on crankbaits. I just really started heavily using lipped crankbaits this year. The Bandit Footloose SB16 Crankbait still shows 4 colors and the Bandit 200 Series SB 16 Crankbait shows 6 colors. The Bandit 100 Series SB 16 Crankbait doesn't come up on the Bargain Cave for me but it is also marked down to $2.99 but currently only has 2 colors listed.
  4. No but the line was scraped up so I considered it garbage. I didnt cast but like 2 times though and it was obvious something was wrong.
  5. Thread was brought back from 2/5/2015 Manns jelly worms are neato for sure.
  6. Not trying to be a smartass as I have made mistakes as well but have you double checked to make sure you didn't miss an eye threading the rod? Im older and its hard to see in low light for me. I missed once went through the frame of the eye. Worked but wasn't a great performance.
  7. My current fishing partner takes all the fish and cleans them with his electric knife. So my knives stay put away. I use to offer but he takes it on himself I guess he wants them done his own way? I don't know but I sure as heck am not complaining.
  8. I fish usually with a partner but don't mind alone some too. From a safety perspective depending on where and how your fishing having a partner can be a great thing.
  9. I've used the invisabraid spiderwire. No problem. It casts a mile and does what braid does. It is white so as far as how the yellow fades I don't know. The white is easy to see for me.
  10. ×3 simple working for years and years 6 or 8 spinning heavier for casting
  11. I may look at the CT version but I couldn't see going to a bigger frame. Thanks for the info Kevin22
  12. I really like the Lew's SSH1 I have. Very dependable and smooth. I have been temped to look at the Daiwa Tatula but I read comments they are physically larger and I would not like that.
  13. I agree ^^^ Vintage design was improved on for a reason. Not all reels were created equal. Hence the new and improved versions that followed.
  14. I never peg texas rig worm
  15. Dont come in here with common sense. I mean seriously the OP asked about "a new jerkbait rod for around $70". For that price I don't see how it can be that bad. I mean seriously what other rod is really comparable at $70 with St Croix service and warranty? Sure you can get cheaper rods but at the quality at price point he is looking at he would be hard pressed to get better. The tip heavy argument is extremely debatable as there is no method to measure what is or is not tip heavy other than opinions. And a lot of that seems to be "over played internet gossip" or agenda based remarks as they dont offer any better suggestions just a bash on the company and or the rod supposedly in their opinion being tip heavy.
  16. Was my first spinner bait. The Original H&H Spinner
  17. I completely agree. ^^^ The issue is there is no standard way to measure. What one person thinks is heavy tipped another finds comfortable. There is no right or wrong it what works for you. If there were no identify marks on a pile of similar priced rods many of those who label the mojo rods as tip heavy couldn't pick them out of the pile. But it's fun to pick a team and go with what you hear or were convinced of.
  18. I like single bladed spinnerbaits as well. As a kid that was all I could get my hands on was a 3/8 H&H single nickle colorado blade. All the owner ordered was black and yellow ones at the little country store out in the sticks where I grew up. I made a mess out of those bass with my pistol grip rod and Zebco 202 with them. I still catch myself wanting to throw that same color and single blade style more than normal.
  19. Yeah there was another post not long ago zman rep made a unhappy customer give them another chance. Couldn't hurt to try.

    Welcome
  21. Hey I like the them just fine and at 40% off you would literally have to have mental issues if you turn down a nice brand new (not the best not a $200+ rod) rod with a 5yr warranty from a reputable company. Just my opinion
  22. Forgot what they are called (brand) but I saw a video and they move like crazy if its the same ones I saw. Good Luck.
  23. I agree except the last line I use each about 50% of the time. Really light lures seem to work better with smaller line, and cast better.
