  1. Field and Stream has the Trokar flippin hooks in 3/0 4/0 and 5/0 sizes Buy One Get One Free! They have other Trokar hooks the same Buy One Get One Free! as well like the TroKar Magnum Weighted Swimbait Hooks
  2. I may have already solved it as I did rewire both tail lights and a section of the trailer wiring I replaced after the incident. However as a precaution I unplug the lights on the trailer before going on the ramp and plug them in as I snug up the boat for travel. My trailer is a single axle and has no brakes to deal with. Also most all my boat ramps are solid concrete way farther than my light weight aluminum boat needs backed in.
  3. That is why they bother putting stripes on roads with more than one lane. OP I do drive a Z71 4x4 but its in 2wd 90% of the time and never needed it at the ramp yet. It's always better to have it and not need it than to not have it and need it imho. And yes I always set the E brake before I get out of the truck on any ramp. YouTube has way too many trucks that ended up in the lake I don't want mine there. This is how I load /unload my 18ft on my own. Once arriving at the lake before ever getting on a ramp I do everything that can possibly be done. My phone, wallet, hat, tackle, cooler, etc is all onboard before hand. Both buckles are removed, the transom saver is taken off, unlock all lockers (easier to me done here than later), instal the drain plug. Then to the front of the boat. I remove the winch strap and attach a long rope to the boat. I tie off the excess in the bed of the truck in a manner it can peel off more rope if necessary as the boat drifts free of the trailer. I then unplug my trailer lights. I had a incident once where I blew the trailer light fuse while at the lake. Since unplugging them before entering the water I have never had it happen again. Our lake is usually not a issue with other boaters but once I commit to the ramp I try to run my plan smooth and efficiently. My boat comes free from the trailer just about the time my trailer fenders go under. My boat comes off pretty easy as I have pushed it off many times as it didn't quite drift free. Once it clears the guides on the back of the trailer I untie from the truck and just pull the boat over to the side of the ramp. Gently try and get it lightly stuck where it will sit long enough I can park the truck roughly 2 minutes away as our parking is right beside the ramp. Our ramp I use doesn't have anything to tie off to so I just be very careful and leave plenty of rope so that if it somewhat drifts I can still grab the rope when I get back from parking. Pretty much do everything in reverse to load it as I did to unload it. If it's calm I have shoved the boat out far enough I pulled it over and back into the guides of the trailer and pulled it on far enough I hooked the winch strap and finished loading it, But I have also drove it back on. I think it was almost as fast just pulling it on the trailer with the rope. But if there is any wind it ain't happening.
  4. I agree with the straight shank round bend appropriately sized as the best worm hooks. All these later style bent designs for a worm hook really have done more to decrease hookup % as every one of them closes off the hook point more and more. Of course there is this option as everyone likes to do their own tinkering. And hooks for the most part are relatively cheap.
  5. Well if I had my boat tied on the end of my line. Then cast it out away from where I was, and presented it in a manner to entice a fish to want to eat it I would put more consideration in to the color. My boat isn't a lure if it was it would be a huge topwater. But seriously I totally agree the extremes some of us go to over insignificant stuff is amusing. Many threads I read are strictly for the amusement when thing get to the rediciouls. Also if the trolling motor isn't spooking them off I seriously doubt the color on the bottom of my boat is a issue. But hey if someone wants to paint the bottom of their boat thinking that it's going to help, it's not my place to tell them different. I would like to mention we have different colors on these baits because fish react differently to different colors all the time. Sometimes within hours the preference changes. How often do these people plan to change the color of their boat? This could get to be a lot of work and expensive.
  6. Well how long ago did he have this done? What were his results like before the paint job? What were his results like after the paint job? Come on man you can't give us some inside info like that and not spill the beans on how it worked out. OP just my opinion No. But hey I was wrong 1 time before in my life.
  7. Sounds like it was worth the trip. Congrats on the PB.
  8. I throw these on a Fenwick HMG Crankbait rod with a Lew's Speed Spool LFS Series with no problem. This combo with the Bandit 100s has caught hundreds if not a 1000 fish. One of my go to setups for the 100 series Bandits and the Mann's 1- minus.
  9. Just wait as soon as a "pro" starts jerking the kids chains about how awesome it is they will sell. Just have to price it like its a Megabass $25 each and kids will have mom and dad buying them like hotcakes on Sunday morning.

What happened to the worm being the only lure a Bass can't remember? I believe there is some truth to this based on my experience. So the answer to your question for me is not really. I fish the same ponds sometimes 3 days in a row now and I have caught the same fish I had caught that same day or one of the previous days. As a kid I fished daily the same ponds almost every day with a 6" Mann's Grape Jelly worm and a Black and Yellow H&H spinnerbait and caught fish repeatedly the whole time I was a kid. These were the only 2 lures available to me way out in the country at the 1 store we had. But I also did this with a Zebco 202 and a rod that by today's standards should not be used for anything related to fishing. So in theory what I did as a kid was impossible using mono and a swivel snap 100% of the time as well. So maybe in this specific case it might be possible. Like if the pond was the size of a bathtub. I am sure there are exceptions to every rule as there are in all fishing scenarios. But based on my fishing and I do use plastic worms a lot I haven't seen it.
  11. Same ^^^ I can't stop cold turkey.
  12. Indeed these are some good ones. Large array of colors and patterns to pick from. Brown Craw Org Belly, and Splatterback are some nice colors for me. Here are some of my favorites. I get a lot of use from the Footloose, 100s and some 200s. They were much better before the prices jumped. It seems the price was hiked on them. Its like all of a sudden they are at least $1 or $2 higher recently.
  13. Technically the ones you posted are offset. If you take the exact direction the point of the hook is going it's not headed for the eye. The worm.in your picture is angled back against the tip of the hook this making it a better hook than a EWG for worms as it is easier to be exposed because it is not in line with the eye. If you Google "offset worm hook" all the images that come up across the top of your search are hooks just like your picture.
  14. DVT a forum sponsor and has many positive comments I have read through in these forums. http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/
  15. For here top right or bottom left should be better than the others based on past experience. But every one of those colors work here as well.
  16. Pretty much the same here. I don't throw the 1 oz. much but 1/2 oz is 70% of the time here. Some 3/8 oz. roughly 10% of the time and 3/4 oz. like 20% I almost always go 1/2 oz or more at the lake as its just more versatile to me having much deeper water. Bigger profile as I generally want the bigger fish. Also my lakes have little rock so the heavier jig isn't a issue so much getting hung up. I pretty much use 3/8 oz. in pools most of the time. Fish are generally smaller and no need to cast a mile usually.
  17. ^^^ I'm the same way. I started trying to upgrade at one time but it just made a lot of work and sometimes never worked out. Sometimes the old saying is right. If it aint broke dont ____ with it.
  18. I actually saw that they were on sale but didn't check shipping costs and tax. Ill probably just stop by Academy next visit to my daughters. No let me rephrase that I will stop at Academy as I always do, but this time I will check out the Ultimate Jerk Shads they have in stock. Thanks again for the input.
  19. Oh well now that changes things some. I just wish they had a little more color selection. But I am sure to make due. Thanks for the information fellas.
  20. I agree there may be others at a better price but I did really like a few of the colors and I wanted suspending not floating. I usually do shop Academy online they have some pretty decent stuff. Also I didn't notice Academy Sports having anything close to this color.
  21. Before anyone gets all crazy with Megabass is the only one we worship, I am just asking because not everyone wants to drop $25 on a single lure. I don't want to spend $10 either. OK so I was just looking through the suspending jerkbaits on Ebay and there are quite a few nice looking ones listed as KDS Custom Painted SUSPENDING 110 Jerkbait Vision The seller has a 99.9% Positive feedback but I wasn't going through all the feedback to see exactly what the feedback on these was. I did search for comments here at bassresource and searched the web for info/reviews on them but came up empty. Has anyone tried one to see what they are really like?
  22. The fail here is that they didn't pay an absurd amount of $ to a Pro or at least a wanna be pro / youtube pro to advertize it. Had they slapped KVD on it it would sell like hotcakes.
  23. For mostly laydowns and flooded bushes I use just as much weight as I need to get the bait in there. I'm not saying a 1/2, 3/4, weight wouldn't possibly trigger another bite but I don't think it would be worth it in laydowns and bushes. Just my opinion maybe someone else chunks heavy weights at laydowns and bushes I just don't.
  24. Exactly. I have also been using straight shank for years. I tried the EWG and it just never felt the same. I still have some EWGs I had bought and for some baits they do seem to fit the bait OK and do work but the straight shank just has the advantage with the point being so open. Not to mention if you like the action of the snell knot you can use it as well.
