  1. Anybody aware of eBay codes?
  2. I own a Shimano 2016 Antares DC and it is the farthest casting reel that I have (I own Conquest, Steez, Metanium and others). And with the right lure and line, nothing can touch the Antares.
  3. Which one is better to throw heavier lures (up to 1oz)? Are they are capable of heavy cover flipping?
  4. Thanks. Drag is def. part of the equation but I think equally important is the torque that the reel can provide without feeling geary or simply overwhelmed. I am wondering on the general ability of the Metanium here and the longterm view as well.
  5. likewise! I have to overcome a arm injury but then the search is on!
  6. Hi, I am wondering if the Metanium MGL 8.5:1 capable of flipping 1oz jigs in heavy cover. Any experience on this? Cheers!
  7. My Kistler Helium 3 7 HXF weighs 3.6 oz
  8. Assuming the PA14 is in a good condition I would go with the PA for that price if you can afford it and have a way to store and transport it.
  9. Yep, I have seen guys putting their PA14 onto their Mazda3 without a problem. The 14 is too big for me though, I have no garage and need to store it in the garden of my apartment complex...
  10. Yeah, I was looking at that too. Might put it into the equation. It is too close though to the PA12 imo though.
  11. I hear you on the weight. THat is why I am getting one of those https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwjwvJmv9YDZAhUUZX4KHV4yA54YABAKGgJwYw&sig=AOD64_0Tg8lBh3eP5mvh5uFiT9GSAnoVUA&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwjSnpOv9YDZAhUO5GMKHTx5AEEQ9aACCEg&adurl= That should take off some weight from the roof/rack.
  12. Thanks guys! Yeah, there is a big price difference. Hobie does have some better quality imo. The seat on the hobie is really top notch. the one from the Titan looks rather cheap (I have not tested it yet though). Really need to get my butt into one of those to judge.
  13. Hi all, with the tax return money I am planning to buy my first fishing kayak. I have test driven the PA 12 and the Outback so far and I am leaning more towards the PA12 since it was far more stable for me (the Outback also felt a bit cheap, it felt like it was bending when I paddled it hard, also in the end it is 'just' 20 pounds heavier than the PA12). I would like to test drive the Titan 10.5 but I am not sure if there is a dealer in my area (Marin County, CA) where this would be possible. I am 6'3. 210 pounds and I love to sight fish. I would be using the kayak 60% on lakes and 40% inshore. I need to carry the kayak on my Honda Civic (Thule 480 R roof rack + going to buy something like a Rhino Rack T-Load Hitch Mount). I have to store the kayak outside. Per outing I would like to carry a minimum of 6 rods with me and a couple of tackle boxes. Standing is important to me since I want to be able to pitch and flip. Anybody that had to make the same decision between these options. What are the cons and pros in your opinion? Thanks. Cheers, Seb.
  14. I have one. Here are my thoughts on the reel: Pros: * Super light but still feels solid. * Good torque to fight bigger fish (my biggest was 4.1#). * good combo for a decent price (I got mine through Black Friday for 260 USD) Cons: * MGL reels are in general very vounerable to scratches (be aware and put a reel cover on it when not used) * Shines with lures above 1/2oz. FOr lighter lures I dont think the spool and the breaking system is refined enough Overall decent reel but did not necessarily blow me away. Is my frogging reel now (had bought it as my Jig reel, but did not handle lighter lures, so bought the Steez SV TWS for it instead).
  15. Try a Histler Helium 3 7-7'3 Heavy XFast. Should be close to your budget with the current 20% off. Super light and sensitive rod!
  16. Agreed. That actually was the point that let me hesitate with the purchase, particularly that I have already a 7' Helium 3 HXF. Was thinking of replacing the Helium 3 with a Shimano GL Conquest Cast Rod 7' Heavy 844C MBR or a Shimano GL Conquest Cast Rod 7' Heavy 843C MBR if it turns out that I still have a need/itch for a dedicated high end 3/8 -1/2 oz Jig rod. For now I am planning to use the Helium for paddle tail swimbaits and my Orochi Spinnerbait Special for Jigs in the 3/8-1/2oz range. But I heared that the ZBONe can throw 3/8 oz lures as well We shall see... first world problems
  17. Purchased a used Kislter Z-Bone model LEXF-5H-73 Heavy X-Fast 7'3" 1/2 - 1 1/2oz for 270 USD. Seems to be in a very good shape. I think that this was too good of a deal to pass... Will see how I like it and maybe switch my 7 foot H3 HXF against a St. Croix Legend X Series Casting Rod 7'1" Med Hvy or Shimano GL Conquest Cast Rod 7' Med Hvy 843C MBR to have a super sensitive rod that I can throw 1/4-1/2 oz Jigs with. What ya guys thinking?
  18. I did. I LOVE the Helium 3, but I feel that the Conquest or Legend X might be slightly nicer...
  19. Thanks! Yeah, I think it will boil down to the Legend X (that I can get for 300 USD) and the COnquest (not sure where I would get the best price here)
  20. I have a 7' Helium 3 HXF and I love the rod. Great sensitivity, super light and good build. Just feel like I should gone a little bit longer (longer casts, better hook sets and ability for slight pitching). With the named rods, I also hope to get an upgrade in sensitivity, rod construction quality and components.
  21. I ordered one for 260 USD (including shipping), for 499 I wouldnt have ordered it. But hey, I want to try the lightest reel on the market and some people actually think that it throws further with less effort than a Steez SV TWS or a ANtares (see here: )
  22. Hi all, I am looking for the ultimate Jig rod (3/8-3/4oz) and I here is what I boiled it down to: * Shimano GL Conquest Cast Rod 7'6" Heavy 904C MBR * St. Croix Legend X Series Casting Rod 7'6" Med Hvy * Daiwa Steez SVF AGS Casting Rod 7'6" Heavy * G. Loomis NRX Casting Rod Blue 7'5" Heavy 894C JWR Important to me: * Weight * Balancing (with Steez SV TWS) * Sensitivity Thanks for your thoughts!
  23. Well it is still an awesome reel. Just not suited for applications where u need a lot of drag. Jerkbaits , open water bottom contact lures, etc. I AGREE that it is a bit disappointing, but oh wel..
  24. lots of people have actually complained about the rating and said that it is more like 6
