Mine is allways "have I tightend my drag back down?" Caught a 16" smallie my first cast of my first wading trip last spring with spinning reel drag all the way backed off. It took me about 15-20 seconds to figure out what was going on. He ran stright downstream and almost spooled me before I got myself sorted out.

I carry a handful of Band-Aids, some sterile gauze pads, a roll of sports tape, and a little airplane bottle of vodka. I need to throw some emergency hook removal supplies in there but I have yet to get around to it.

Also, PayPal's arbitration process is very heavily weighted in favor of the buyer, so it's pretty easy to get your money back if you are patient. I had a friend who made a pretty good amount of money selling sports memorabilia on eBay but eventually he got sick of being scammed by buyers without any recourse so he gave it up.

Nuts, I have been working under the comforting belief that my larger and more expensive lures were somehow safe from the slippery little SOB's. So far I have lost a small handful of LC78s, two poppers, and more perch lures than I care to count to them.

Deep cranks, anything over 3oz, a t-rigged senko the "right" way, I am sure a dozen others. You guys who have never fished a fluke are missing out, imho it's the most fun lure out there to fish and once you get a little time in with them you can get a pretty insane variety of different actions and retrieves out of one.

If you ever get a chance I would love a pic of the Ryoga next to the sv103. I want to pick a Ryoga up but I dont have a good sense of how big it is.

What size spinnerbait are you getting pickerel on? I almost never get one, even bigger picks, on anything other then small/finesse bass lures. Most of my "on purpose" pickerel fishing in done with the same tackle that I use for dinky litte white perch.

I will go against the conventional wisdom and say that I find making very very small adjustments to the cast control knob can really help in keeping both distance and control when fishing into the wind. I don't think I've ever gone as far as the "slow drop" , but I've definitely found that choking down the cast control knob a little has proven pretty helpful to me when the circumstances dictated it. Normally it is set as everyone else of explained, but I do find that I get better results from leaving the brake say 3/4 of the way on and adjusting the rest of the way with the cast control knob when I need max control rather then turning the brake all the way up.

The "classic" seems to be 10lb braid to like an 8lb floro leader. I am an ass and therefor keep fussing round with different low-diameter floros and monos, but have yet to find a real winner. I am also giving 8lb braid a go at the moment but am unconvinced that there is any practical distance gain over 10lb but a for sure an increase in wind knots.

I'm a sucker for a good pun, so I'll buy one just based on the name alone.

Ha, my mom bought me one of those for Christmas. Like five years ago when I was in my mid 30s. I have no idea what she was thinking but it lives in the trunk of my car waiting for the day I need it.

I have room for four, three spots on my crate and one built-in holder up front. I try to pick based where I'll be fishing on any given day and have never felt the need to bring any more along. As most my fishing is from the bank, often a fairly good hike for my car, having more than a single rod feels like a luxuy.

Oh, the monkey is already howling about a $250 rod, so he is going to have learn to live with disappointment in this case.

I catch a lot of smallies when I am chasing panfish with an UL rod. I use micro cranks a lot and the bass love them. As others have said, just keep your drag low and don't cast too close to cover.

I've never found a bobber stop that will actually hold even an 1/8oz weight on thin (5-8lb) mono or floro. The Carolina Keepers work ok, but they have sharp edges that pick up muck more then a cylinder weight seems too.

I have a pair of Wiley's with the gasket I bought when I was a gun nut. I liked them, but could almost never wear them as they would fog up constantly. All wrap around glasses do that to me to some extent, but the gasket made it way way worse.

I had a Daiwa that made a sound kinda like the "sound of a baseball card hitting the spokes of a bike tire, but softer and a bit more metallic", which ended up being a bad pinion gear. It would only make it when retieved under a litte load though.

I need to work on comitting myslef to jerk baits. I bought a couple Pointers 78s this fall and even got a rod for them, an Avid M/XF, but I have had so much fun throwing flukes and small jigs on it I have bearly touched the jerks. I still haven't busted out my kayak yet this year and the ponds I usualy fish seem so shallow that the jerks inevitably get fouled a quarter of the way into the retrieve.

I use 12lb Invizx as my general purpose line, I've only experienced abrasion in extremely ridiculous circumstances, like when I accidentally cast over a concrete retaining wall and have to retrieve my line across the corner of it.

Interesting, I'll try two brake shoes on and the dial set lower, but I was still getting terribly chopped off distance from it set up that way. I really don't wanna have to open up the side plate and fuss with the shoes when I'm out on the water. I'm gonna try to flush the bearings and see what that does for me. It's a nice little reel, as much as I hate to say it, and palms better then my beloved Alphases. I got a pretty screaming deal on it so if I cant get it set up like I need it, I should be able to offload it for most of what I have into it. If
