  1. What size shakey head jig do you use most often?
  2. Yeah, I know but we usually are trout fishing during that time and wait for the keeper season to open before we switch to bass.
  3. You jest but we still had ice on all the ponds/lakes at the end of April up here...lol. Our season opens the 2nd Satyrday in June.
  4. So I know it's just post-spawn (and the season just opened a week ago) here in Vermont but I haven't had the chance to get out yet...how's the fishing? What lure/technique seems to be hot right now?
  5. I decided to hold off for now until I see more reviews out there about them. I know that I thought the Double Plopper would be a great bait and it blew chunks, not saying that these V's would perform that badly but they do appear similar in shape. The build quality appears to be good but I'd like to hear a few more positive reviews to reassure myself these aren't just a gimmick before pulling the trigger. The Bait Monkey seems to stalk me on a regular basis though...
  6. Has anyone tried the spinner baits from Evilution Lures...specifically the Evil V and the Evil V 4x4? They look interesting.
  7. What do you guys(gals...being PC) use for shakey head fishing? Do you want a worm that floats somewhat so the tail stays upright and doesn't droop down towards the bottom?
  8. I feel your pain! I have a hard time figuring out my sonar too...I just can't properly read the arches and give up and just look for where i think the bass might be holed up.

  10. Okay, so i've heard people talk about using a "search" bait to find where the fish are. My question is two part...first, if you are using a particular bait as a search bait and you get bit what do you do...stick with the bait that is getting bit or switch to something else (non-search bait)? If you DO switch why if you're getting bit on the search bait and what bait would you switch to? Thanks for clearing this up for me!!!
  11. Hahaha...the thing is, if she's interested in something the purse strings will open up...if not, they tighten up significantly .
  12. Nah, they only show up when she starts fishing and they go away after the season ends.
  13. They do look like little blisters almost. She's tried popping them before and I think some clear liquid comes out but I told her to stop as she'll just irritate them more.
  14. Okay, not sure this is the proper forum for this but it IS about fishing line so here goes. My wife's pointer finger that she uses to flip the bail back on her reel (spinning) and release the line with has these little bumps all over it right where the line passes over it. They don't hurt or itch they just don't look good. Could she be allergic to fluorocarbon? She only gets these during fishing season and when she stops fishing they clear up. Just wondered if anybody else out there experiences this type of reaction and what they do to combat it?
  15. They're not in stock. When you try to select a color it won't let you.
  16. Has anyone tried the Savage Gear Lily Ninja frogs from DSG...are they any good?
  17. Okay, for those frog guys out there which is the best hollow bodied frog and why? The ones I'm looking into are the Spro Bronzeye and the Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect Frog...pros/cons of these? I know Booyah and Strike King both make some too but it seems Snag Proof and Spro get the most love but I'm open to suggestions as well.
  18. I have these and they work really well... https://www.walmart.com/ip/KVD-Mustad-5-Split-Ring-Pliers/23704230
  19. Not necessarily...just saw this "flash sale" deal offered by DSG and wondered if it was worth it. I like Power Pro and I'm thinking of trying some Sufix 832 too.
  20. I see those all the time...always wondered if they actually worked or were just a gimmick.
  21. I've heard Ben's 100 works great but it's close to 100% deet so I'm not sure how often or thick I'd apply it.
  22. Okay, what do you guys use for bug spray and does it work? I just about got carried away by black flies yesterday and I'm a big guy so that's sayin' something :). I first tried some organic non-deet crap that's supposed to be good for kids and pets too but the flies just laughed at that (no ****, I think I really DID hear them laughing) so next I doused myself in Deep Woods OFF and that worked marginally better.
  23. I will also be getting a Shimano Curado I in the 7.2:1 ration so...two new reels.
  24. People are saying to use the 8.1:1 for frogs but when you're fishing frogs they are generally going into the middle of lily pads are other nasty vegetation...to me that would be when you'd want more torque to pull those big bass outta' there so why would you want a reel with the lesser amount of torque like the 8.1 versus a reel with more torque like a 7.3?
