  1. Hey Everyone, I’ve been looking for a quality jig rod and I’m thinking about the Helium 3. The 7’4 Medium-Heavy/Extra-Fast is what I’m looking at. I’d be mostly using it for pitching ¼ - ½oz t-rigs and jigs (#20 copolymer). What are your thoughts on this particular rod for my intended purposes? Are the extra-fast tips on these rods fine for my intended application? Thanks in advance!
  2. Any updates on these rods? TackleTour had a review, just wondering if anyone had any first hand experience.
  3. Booyah Pad Crasher. Not as lifelike as the Live Target but it gets the job done, has awesome hooks, a ton of great colors, and soft body for good hook-ups. Awesome deal for $5-6.
  4. Hey Guys, I've actually been on here for a bit just never introduced myself yet. So hi everyone, glad to be here. I've learned a ton from just browsing around on here and just absorbing everyone's wealth of knowledge. I actually joined a club this year and fished my first ever tournament Sunday. The results were better than I could've hoped for and I owe that to this website and it's awesome members and of course a great partner!
  5. I used 8lb with a 4lb leader attached to a swivel and I was pleasantly surprised.
  6. I believe it locks both wheels so they turn at the same time to give you more traction.
  7. Hey guys, First off, not sure where to put this. Anyways, I'm in the market for a new truck and found one that has pretty much everything I'm looking for. Then I had some one say if I'm going to be towing I'm going to want the electronic locking rear differential option. The truck I'm looking at is an f150 with a 3.55 ratio regular axle and is 4x4 since I am in WI (snow). Boat will be less than 3000lbs. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  8. I use a 7' MF micro magic w/ a stradic fj. Then I usually use between 8-12lb line depending on water clarity.
  9. I'm just going to throw this out there but Izorline XXX (actual copolymer) you can get at *** for 16.99 for a 1700yd spool depending on the size. Also similar breaking strength to YZ. But YZ is great too, I have it in 6 & 8lb for finesse applications and I like the smaller spool size.
  10. Exactly, except I use a bluegill imitation along with white and black/blue.
  11. One of the favorites on the Mississippi is Pool 5a. (Pool 5a extends from Lock & Dam 5a located near Winona, Minnesota upstream to Lock & Dam 4 located near Whitman, Minnesota.) A lot of the people in my club consider this one of the best sections of the Mississippi. It's great for both largemouth and smallies. It also happens to be by Winona. There's a main channel but there's enough backwaters including a couple bays for a smaller boat. It would also be a good time of year to fish those with this time of year and the current water temps.
  12. Both Zoom finesse and trick worm. Hard to beat 20 worms for a few bucks.
  13. I live in La Crosse and the Mississippi is still pretty frigid and muddy down here. Jigs (regular and finesse), worms, grubs, and hair jigs are on the go-to list at the moment. Might try yo-yoing a lipless crank if I'm really impatient. I'm excited to see some answers that I can utilize in my club tournament next week!
  14. Picked up some yellow power pro in 15lb to put on my spinning reel. Have a club tourney on the 17th and excited to try it out!
  15. I like a swim senko as a trailer. I hear siebertoutdoors makes a good one, that'll be my next purchase. Purchased some brush mata jigs and they are definitely as awesome as people say. I bought the 4.5" but the next time I would buy the 5" so I can bit off the end if I need to and have a little more versatility.
  16. when i started i wondered the same thing then i realized i can get a 1700yd spool of izorline xxx for the same price as some 80yds of leader material. Just use your favorite line for a leader.
  17. I have sunline supernatural on my topwater rod and it's pretty supple and casts great. It's relatively thinner than most monos too. I have 16lb on mine and its .33mm and breaks at about 18lb.
  18. Step one throw away the spiderwire (jk) step two use an Alberto/modified Albright. FG is really strong but also susceptible to knot failure.
  19. Never had a San Diego jam knot break.

    White ice or pearl
  21. Cut a slit in the belly. It will make it easier for the hook to penetrate the fish by having less plastic to go through.
  22. Can't catch anything if you don't try. This time of year is perfect time to start learning, pre-spawn and fall is when a jerk bait can really shine. They work all year round though but mainly when the water is cooler and the bass are more lethargic. Each brand has its own unique action but they all catch fish. Rapala, smith wick, megabass, spro, etc
  23. Izorline xxx or YZH #12. About 18+ break strength
  24. Izorline xxx is extremely strong with less memory than CXX and cheaper than YZH.
