  1. I like to throw crankbaits. I also like to play bass guitar.
  2. Thanks for the reply! Good to hear all those attachments are working well for you. I have the Thule ratcheting tie down set and some cam straps too. I have no regrets spending the money either. Saves so much time and makes life easier.
  3. What Yakima accessories do you use? I was thinking about getting Hullhound saddles or the Jaylow. The quick tool free attachment system looks cool, but I worried about the brackets being plastic. I read some people complain about cracks. How has whatever you have held up?
  4. That's strange. Here's what it showed. That generation accord is 2008-2012. No worries. I'm not sure the OP is interested in this anyway.
  5. You can order parts on the Shimano website. They have been updating the site lately and that section doesn't seem to be working. You could give them a call at 877-577-0600. I just called them for a parts diagram and they emailed it to me while we were still on the phone. They offer reel service so you could send it in. Don't know how much that would run. I hear the Calcutta 400b is a great swimbait reel.
  6. Looks like a Shimano Calcutta 400b. $240 new.
  7. Riazuli makes a good point. So if you decided to bite the bullet and get a good rack, you will need to make sure it fits. Thule and Yakima make specific rack feet and fit kits to hold the cross bars for almost every vehicle. I checked and Thule does have options for 2008-2012 and 2013-2017 Honda Accords. They don't have one for 2018, but that car is still fairly new. I'm sure they will come up with something soon. You could call them and see if one is in the works. I have called them before and they are very helpful. Yakima has options for both older generations and the 2018. The only thing I don't like about the Yakima bars is that they are round. It makes it harder to mount other racks as they sometime spin. I prefer Thule square bars. Note the Yakima Boatloader and Thule Outrigger only work with round and square bars respectively. I know a lot of people do use the suction cup style loaders. I tried wetting the cups and they still failed. Fishing kayaks are heavy and unwieldy so I don't trust something that isn't fixed anymore. YMMV. Good luck and enjoy your new car!
  8. I have a bad back and bought the boat roller. Big mistake! One of the suction cups failed a few times. The last time I used it, I lost control of my boat and twisted my wrist. Wasn't able to kayak for a couple months. I would avoid it. I wound up getting a Thule rack with square bars and their Outrigger II attachment. It's similar to the Yakima Boatloader. My friend has one on his camry and showed me how easy it was to load his canoe by himself. I just load my kayak straight onto the rack. I used to use foam blocks when my kayak was new, but I don't really care anymore. The Thule Outrigger is so easy to use. The total cost of the bars, feet and outrigger was expensive, but so worth it. They always have 20% off sales going on. I could not transport the kayak without it unless I bought a trailer or hullivator. Here's a great video of a double amputee using the Outrigger:
  9. I also have the Perception Pescador Pro 10 and use a Werner Camano 240cm. I bought both together at REI and while they recommended the 230, the 240 felt better for me. That paddle is great by the way. Expensive, but I got it on sale and it is so much lighter than any other paddles I saw.
  10. Thanks guys. That was a great review A-Jay. Thanks Poolshark. It's nice to know you use it for inshore and other baits. I went ahead and ordered the 200d.
  11. Anyone have one of these and what do you use it for? Deep cranking?
  12. I use a small Simms sling pack. It can hold a 3600. I also carry 3 bags of plastics, water, first aid kit and a rain shell. I keep it in the truck with a 2 piece spinning rod and I'm good to go anytime. It's a $100 but it's the best pack I've had. There are some cheaper fishing sling packs on Amazon you might want to check out too.
  13. Is use Norman Speed Clips too and remove the split ring first. They work great but are a little difficult to open especially when it's cold. This year I am planning to try Lazer Quicklink in a size 2 which is rated for 25lb.
  14. Walmarts have Berkley Lighting Shock rods. Maybe you can check there. On the deal thread someone reported that their local Walmart had started their annual pre-spring clearance and picked one up for $9. They are normally $40.
  15. Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap Hooks # 230411 size 1/0
  16. The bait monkey has been telling me it's time to stock up on low speed reels before they are history.

I use a small Norman Speed Clip. Also use this for crankbaits. I remove any split ring that came with the bait.
  18. I have a 6'6" Medium Veritas 2.0 casting rod. I sometimes use it for senkos which are 3/8 oz. I mostly use it for 1/4 Keitech jig with a paca chunk, which is probably 1/2 oz total. Works well for both baits for me. I haven't tried anything lighter.
  19. I am really happy with the NRS Chinook Fishing PFD. It's $110. Very comfortable and designed for kayak fishing. It has a high back, several pockets, a tool retractor, and a knife lash tab. (I also have the NRS co-pilot knife.) Also has rod holder loops and a d-ring on the back for a net in case you want to use if while fly/river fishing. More d-rings on the front. Check it out here: https://www.nrs.com/product/40009.03/nrs-chinook-fishing-pfd
  20. I know you want to be able to move it between your boat and kayak, but your kayak also has a recessed transducer mount on the bottom. Have you thought about buying another transducer?
  21. I usually fish from my kayak and only bring one spinning and one baitcaster. If it's a quick trip maybe only one spinning rod. I have 10 combo's but don't like to bring too much stuff. I like to focus on one or two techniques and will bring the appropriate setup. I'm still learning, so maybe this will change as I learn more.
  22. It's felt pretty cold the last 2 days. What are you wearing while kayaking?
  23. Do you remember which seller you bought it from?
  24. Thanks for all the great ideas guys! Can't wait for ice out to try these out.
