Norman lures quick clips
I used them in the past. The small size is plenty strong and doesn't seem to change the bait action. As I get older they are getting harder to open so I switched to these P-Line Technical snaps: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/P-Line_Technical_Snap/descpage-TPBB.html The smallest size has a 33lb breakage strength. That's about 32lbs more than most of the bass I catch up here. ?

St. Croix Rods
Thanks. Some cashiers have done an override for me in store in the past. None of my local stores carry St.Croix so I was trying to figure out a way to use it online to pick up a travel rod. Oh well. I appreciate the explanation. Enjoy the Mojo Bass!

St. Croix Rods
Sorry I didn't understand that. Did you print out the in-store coupon and use it online or in-store? I am trying to buy a rod they don't carry in store. did you get it to work online?

BPS Fishing Classic Info?
I was wondering if there was something different too. My local store also didn't have the regular PQ2 on display which I thought was strange. The limited one still felt pretty good for $50. I didn't need another reel and managed to leave with only one new rod. The bait monkey is telling me I should go back and pick up a couple reels anyway....you never know when you might need another one or two...right?

BPS Fishing Classic Info?
They told me they changed the policy this year. There is only one coupon this year. I traded in a reel for a rod yesterday. They also said they had reels for sale for $5 too that you could buy and trade in. Probably a zebco spincast or something like that.

3 rod kayak fishing setup ?
That's good to hear you love the 783c GLX. I also wish the handle was shorter. Thanks for the heads up on the SJR line. That looks like a good option.

3 rod kayak fishing setup ?
Thanks for all the detail! I've never seen a mbr784c. Did they just make it in the GL3 or also the IMX and GLX? I have similar setups but with cheaper rods. I just bought a mbr783c GLX for jigs and t-rigs. My first Loomis. Haven't had a chance to fish it yet as we still have ice. After feeling it compared to my $100 rods, the bait monkey says I need upgrade everything else. Thinking I should also get the mbr782c GLX, but not sure what spinning rod to get. Looking for a 6 foot M/F with a short handle.

3 rod kayak fishing setup ?
Switch up the third rod depending on where you go. Either H/F frog rod, M/M crankbait rod or M/F casting rod.

Wow that's a great deal! I wish they had Academy up here. I visited on in Texas once. Was so jealous of the selection and prices.

Best ultra-light rod $30 and under
I have the same rod for trout fishing. Got it for $30 at Dick's. (Same company as Field and Stream.) Works great for trout. I've even caught a few small (1-2 lb) bass on it and it's held up well. Very comfortable and has good action. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/okuma-celilo-trout-spinning-rod-15okuucll5ft6l2pcrod/15okuucll5ft6l2pcrod?recid=Product_PageElement_product_rr_1_9073_&rrec=true Another option is a Berkley Cherrywood 5'6" light rod. $25 at Walmart. Dick's has it with a BlackMax spinning reel for $40. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/berkley-cherrywood-hd-black-max-spinning-combo-17bkyuchrrywd105fcom/17bkyuchrrywd105fcom

Length difference in kayaks
Thanks Jaime! I like the mods you made. I subscribed to your channel a while ago. Glad to hear that your back is better!

some questions re: curado 70/71
I just wanted to update that I did an exchange and the external brake dial on the new one is super smooth and much easier to turn. The first one must have been bad. Thanks to everyone for the line recommendations. I think I will go with 15lb invisix and use on a mh rod for jigs. Can't wait for ice out.

Length difference in kayaks
Sorry to hear you had to have back surgery. I hope you heal soon. Which kayak do you have that is 30lbs? With my bad back I need something light like that to put on my 4runner.

Length difference in kayaks
Forgot to mention that Perception makes scupper plugs for their kayaks that fit perfectly. https://www.perceptionkayaks.com/us/scupper-hole-plugs You can find them cheaper on amazon, just search for "Harmony Scupper Plugs." Harmony is the parent company of Wilderness Systems and Perception. No doubt 12 footers are the sweet spot. I bought the 10 for slightly lower weight as I have a bad back and every pound counts when I have to hoist a kayak on top of my 4runner. I wish the places I fish had room to park with a trailer. I wound up getting a Thule Outrigger to help. I think I am ready for something lighter. Can anyone recommend a light 12 foot sit on top with a lawn chair style seat?

Length difference in kayaks
I have the same kayak. Its actually 10’6”. I bought it after renting the 12” many times. (I had an unlimited summer pass at a local lake.) I also debated getting the 10 vs 12. I think the 10 tracks really well. I fish mostly small ponds and wanted something easier to load on the roof that had a comfortable lawn chair seat. Also both sizes are terrible for standing. If you want to stand you need something bigger but it will weigh more. As James mentioned the rod holders are totally useless. I fact I lost a rod one time when I was renting the 12. It was a cheap spinning combo, but still a bummer. (On the upside it gave me an excuse to get something nicer. ?) I got a crate and a 3 rod holder and zip tied it to the outside of the crate. Added some paracord with carabiners to clip the rods in place so I don’t lose another rod. Definitely need scupper plugs especially under the seat as it doesn’t drain well and water will pool under your seat. I haven’t done any mods. I also don’t like the built in handles. I would like to add some handles but haven’t decided whether to put them on the side or the top. Feel free to ask any questions.
