Snack Daddy lures is my favorite and is a slim thin tube.
  2. My question has always been, "Where are the loons in February?" I'm fairly certain they go as far south as they need to to find water that isn't frozen. ALL of those states allow lead.
  3. I've used every brand of stabilizer and it doesn't matter. I'm using Baitplastics right now because of the free shipping over 39 dollar deal. All the other stuff, Barlows or Lurecraft is a good place to start.
  4. Best part of Mizzou/LSU? It was an SEC game without Gary Danielson.
  5. I always tell new guys to buy a Bass Tackle injector. The 6oz is 124 dollars, but it's worth it. The nozzle can't come off accidentally which is a safety feature I really like. To remelt all your old stuff, cut baits into small pieces. I use a presto pot, it holds the plastic at temp longer. You could go the microwave route too, but it requires regular reheating. I also use heat stabilizer for remelts. As for molds, if you can buy a multi cavity, do it. I have a 4 cavity creature bait mold and it is much less time consuming than single bait molds. Lots of facebook groups for bait making, its a good place to look for molds. Also, if you don't like a mold or your injector-the good brands hardly lose value. They are very easy to sell. I've bought molds, put 500 baits through them and sold them in the same week.
  6. Tom, thanks for the great deal on three classic Daiwas.
  7. Thank you, I do tie direct and I don't discount the fact that I just don't see very well...especially for 10 pound mono.
  8. I have the same experience. When I tried my 8.1 Fuego (33.9 IPT) my baits spun out unless I slowed way down. Those of you who burn your squarebills, what are you using? I have Rapala Crankin Raps and old Bagleys.
  9. I don't find it that easy to slow down. In theory it is, but for me focusing on slowing down is an every cast thing. I don't like it.
  10. J Lo still makes a killing in the Latino market too. She's done some great stuff with Álvaro Soler that was tremendously successful worldwide. (I'm a bilingual redneck)
  11. I use the Yucatán on all of my leader setups, never had an issue. It has been a great knot for me.
  12. Same here. I have spools of Silver Thread that are still good 15 years later.
  13. It doesn't bother me, I think it's low stretch compared to any other comparable diameter copoly. What i love about it is the low memory and how well it handles. Im surprised I hardly ever hear about it.
  14. I run them through a meat grinder, remelt them and pour things I will use. I also donate to a local hs team where I used to coach football.
  15. I thought I was the only one on here who had a bad experience with YoZuri. It had memory that wouldn't go away and handled terribly. I used to be a Silver Thread fanatic, but lately I've switched over to Mean Green on my baitcasters.
  16. I pour all the lead and bismuth jigs that I throw, except bitsy bugs. For less than $2 a jig it isn't really worth it to me. I have two full time jobs and work 70 hours a week right now. As for soft plastics, I only buy things that are difficult to pour or are on massive sale. Hula grubs are one bait I do buy, mating the skirt and twin tail is a pain. I also buy tubes, but when my supply gets low I'm grabbing a mold for those. Other baits not made by me include: -Senkos, the originals are great when fish are picky. If they aren't any stickbait will work-including mine. -Zman TRDs -Mann's worms
  17. Mann's worms have been in my box since the early 80s, especially the Augertail.
  18. Fishing without a doubt. Now that my springer is 11 bird hunting is pretty much overwith anyway, but even then I'd rather fish.
  19. Its a good idea to take pictures of your license and boat registration on your phone.
  20. For tubes, Snack Daddy makes the best that I've found. Original Gitzits are really good too, but for me it's a slender profile that always seems to work better. If I'm Texas rigging a tube and fishing it like a worm, any tube will do. For finesse fishing, I love the Snack Daddys. Also their Phat Head jigs are fantastic.
  21. You could unscrew the eye bolt and open up the eye by driving a punch or big nail through it. Then the hook or new split ring goes right in, and you close the eye back up using pliers.
  22. I've been in love with Crystal Gayle since about 1980.
  23. I'm still sitting on 3000 yard spools of Silver Thread that I store in my gun safe where its good and dark. probably got them 2-5 years ago. It has been discontinued, and I'm slowly auditioning for its replacement.
  24. I got a lifetime membership/subscription back in 2000. They still go to my parents' house and my dad reads them and I get them a few at a time. They are getting pretty thin these days, wish I was.
