  1. For my local lake probably the top-center, lots of gizzard shad and that's a close enough match.
  2. Do you know of any split rings that are light enough? Obviously I don't want them bending out but I need to shave weight.
  3. Im going to have to do something.. just my luck I'll take the middle hook out and miss 20 fish.
  4. All five I tested sunk with stock split rings and hooks; in all temps. None suspended. I would like to see a video or picture of a truly suspending STX if available.
  5. After further testing this bait is a sinker. Owner ST-36 Gama Round Bend SS Gama EWG Bronze Even the stock hooks. This bait sinks in water temperatures from 50 to 82 degrees. Infuriating.
  6. I've done a lot of testing today and these STXs sink no matter what I do. It's just a matter of how fast they fall. Even with the stock hooks they sink. I'm really disappointed to be honest. I was under the impression these were able to suspend. Also, of the five Pointer 100s I just bought 3 slow float and 2 sink. This is driving me nuts.
  7. So I'm going to revive this thread and ask for some help. I am trying to balance some RC STXs. So far in my testing Owner ST-36s sink, Gama Round SS Magic Eyes sink and Gama EWG bronze sink very slowly. However, the LC Pointers in the same water sink at about the same rate as the Gama Round SS's. I know my Pointers suspend well so should I figure that the STXs will suspend with the Round Gama's? I don't know if I should get some lighter bronze round bends on stick with what I've got. I will be fishing them with 10# mono which may help the bait to float. I am testing them in a big glass vase so I can see the sink rate. Is the water too cold, is the container too small?
  8. My DSG had the LiveTargets for $10.99. I'll take two for one any day. this bait surely has a time and place on the water
  9. So today turned out to be my STX tuning day. I went and got myself 24 #1 snap rings and 12 #2s, along with Mustad snap ring pliers. They were an absolute life saver. I went back and forth on which hooks to choose. Originally I had Owner ST-36 #6's on them but they sank way too fast for my liking. I opted against the round bend and instead went for the Gama EWG bronze #6.. and while they still eventually sink it is at a much slower rate. I was unsure about EWG trebles on jerkbaits. It seemed like most of the research I did said that round bends were more likely to hook the fish but EWGs would hold the fish better once hooked. A lot of people made the argument that fish often swipe at crank and jerkbaits, and because of that round bends would be the ticket. But then, and this might sound cheesy, I saw that VanDam has EWGs on all of his jerkbaits.. and that was that. I tested them in very cold water and they sank slowly, but at about the same rate as the Pointer 100s I compared them with, which gives me confidence they'll suspend in more realistic water temperatures and tied to mono. Hopefully they produce!
  10. How does the new Bucoo seem.. decent quality?
  11. Can't wait to start throwing my stutterstep. Funny thing is, if I were to see it in person I would've never bought it given it's sheer size. Buuut, after watching countless videos and getting a good deal online I had to have one.
  12. Just got a killer deal on two already reasonably priced lures. The Herringbone seems to be the more desirable paint job. $8.50 for the pair! I've put ST-36s on my other STXs and they sink a little quick for my liking. I'm going to have to find a lighter more suspend friendly hook.
  13. By chance, could anyone show me what their Herringbone Chartreuse looks like? When I first saw it a few years ago it didn't look great but now it's advertised much different. It seems to be less opaque and a bit more glossy with the "bones" less pronounced. Which is it?
  14. He throws his cranks 2000 times a day and catches 50 fish in the process. The hooks are good enough for the casual/semi-serious angler, but to a pro at his level they must dull and bend at a much higher rate. The upgraded hooks would drive the price up and I'm sure SK would rather sell a higher volume at a reasonable price.
  15. Ah sorry, $4.99!
  16. I scored! My local DSG didn't have them but my next closest location did. For $4.99 these things could have bobby pins for hooks it's too cheap not to take a chance. I held it up to a LiveTarget and the bodies are dead on identical. However, the Trokars are a hell of a lot thicker gauge hook. I won't feel bad beating these up.
  17. ..and Mustad hooks apparently?
  18. @nhpleasantlakebass any chance you still have the package? I can't find it anywhere online, I figured maybe a UPC would help.
  19. I just went to my local DSG and although they have a lot of new stuff they had none of these top water sunfish
  20. I think you need to reread my post .
  21. Saw the patch.. didn't help the uniform at all. Of course I'm jealous of your championships, but Pittsburgh might have some of the worst jerseys across their three sports. The Steelers alternates are the biggest eye sore in the NFL. Those stadium series uniforms from Saturday were the worst jerseys I've seen since the canucks Charlie Browns. Then there's the Pirates retro look, oh god. I envy the rings, but not the look. Dont get me started on the Caps. I went to college in DC. I loved bouncing them from the playoffs in 2007-08. Probably the biggest choke artists in the NHL. Win (or at least compete) for the Presidents Trophy year in year out.. only to fail miserably two weeks later.
  22. They were genuinely atrocious. The Flyers all-blacks were awesome though.
  23. Never realized Michigan was considered the northeast region! regardless, welcome to BR.. google maps is your friend!
